We dropped off our son white dress shirt to have it cleaned and pressed for an event he was going to attend. When he picked up the shirt it was actually dirtier than when we dropped it off. How is this even possible? there was no apology or even an ounce of remorse. They said they could put it back through the cleaning process but it would be tomorrow because the workers who clean the close already went home for the day. I guess looking at the cloths before you put them under the plastic isn't part of there process This was at 12:30 what a way to do business. guarteneed you won't have mine anymore. DONT GO HERE!! I took in a pair of pants here to get hemmed and they told me it would be ready in a week. I came back the next Thursday and it took them 10 minutes to find my pants by looking at the video camera to make sure they had the right ones because they weren't tagged or anything!! I asked ABDUL if they were done since I saw him putting the plastic over them right before he handed them to me. He said they were. I tried them on the day of the event and they were STILL 35" inches in length not 32" like they were supposed to be hemmed to. I brought them in the next week, and asked for a refund for the inconvenience and to have them redo them. ABDUL ( I'm assuming the manager or owner) said I would get a refund and they would be ready the next day. I came back the next week and they were finally ready but no refund. He told me that since he had to redo them I wouldn't get a refund even though he told me I would on the first place. He argued with me and I walked out, telling him that he lost a customer. He didn't really seem to care. GO ELSEWHERE, DO not waste your money on this cleaner with a manager with the worst attitude I have ever seen ABDUL!!!!!!! I had been using this zips for the past year for all my work clothes. I took a white linen dress there a few days ago with a small stain on it. They marked it like they would take care of it. I picked it up earlier just looked at it now and the stain was still there. No one mentioned anything to me. I just was able to take oxy clean and wipe the stain out myself. Also, when I picked up this one dress I dropped a few days earlier they start pulling all these hangers of clothes of mine. I asked why weren't these given to me previously. I was given an excuse about the computer. One of skirts was not in the bag and I asked about it...since no one apparently was going to say anything to me. They didn't clean it because of the lining. Say what...thats how it's made! They said they would credit my account...i asked how but obviously they weren't if I didn't say anything. Oh for next time...yeah right. I will check my last set of clothes carefully and go elsewhere from now on. Such a shame since it's convenient and for the most part the staff is friendly. I decided to try Zips because I'm a college student with very little money and needed dry cleaning of the few suits that I do have. I sent in 11 items and they all shrunk. I have a suit jacket that doesnt fit anymore, suit pants that are considerably shorter than when I brought them in. I am saddened and distraught. As someone attending law school, this is devastating because I have to wear a suit everyday. Zips I dont think I will be returning. Went here for awhile - tried to have button put on and they took one from the collar instead of the new one we picked out, they also stained the shirt. 4 weeks later told owner would call. Eventually I go in there when the "owner" is supposed to be there and he pretends to be the manager and says he knows nothing. Horrible. I've been going to Zips for years, thought they were always reliable until I moved to the area and tried this Zips. HORRIBLE!! Never again. I'll drive out of my way to another Zips or pay more at another cleaners before I ever come to this location again. First strike was when they wouldn't clean my wool coat because it has leather trim on it. Second strike was when I picked up clothes from there, cane home to find black marks splashed all over the back and inside of a red dress I had just bought and worn only once! I took it back, spoke to the manager Abdul, he denied that his machines did it because they don't stain in "patterns" and that his insurance company wouldn't cover it but he still insisted that I find the receipt for the dress anyways. He said he would try to clean it again and told me to come back three days later to pick it up. I go back three days later and am told the dress isn't ready. I was waiting to speak to Abdul after another customer was complaining to him about his pants going missing from the store. When that customer was done complaining about his issue, it was my turn to ask Abdul why would he tell me to pick the dress up on Friday and not call and let me know it wouldn't be ready and that they needed more time? I wasted time and gas and added even more to my frustration about my brand new dress being ruined. Abdul rudely shook his head at me and said " no, we don't call customers." Then he said he sent the dress out to his warehouse to get the stains out." He told me to come back on Monday. He called me on Monday to say "my warehouse said the stain is hair dye." I was like "hair dye?" That's not from me! Then he kept saying if it was his shop, the stain wouldn't have been in a pattern. I didn't care about how his machines leave stains, all I know is that those stains were not on my dress when I brought them to his shop. It looked like something splashed on my dress and he wants to make it seem like it didn't happen there. Then he said "come pick up your dress, I couldn't get the stains out and there's nothing else I'm going to do about it." So the receipt I went through the trouble of obtaining for the dress, for him to file an insurance claim, was another waste of my time and effort. I took my clothes there to get clean. I trusted them in the care of his shop and two weeks later, am left with a dress with stains I didn't put there and will never come out. I'm never ever going to trust this store with my clothes again and I urge everyone else that this store is not reliable and they don't want to take responsibility for their mistakes and will blame you for their mistakes and won't care about wasting your time and money. read more

I wish I could give this place less than 1 star. It's just terrible. It's staffed with children who play around at the front counter. The most egregious thing is that if you give then your dirty clothes to clean, they will take your money press those dirty clothes and give those dirty clothes right back to you for a small fee. I've tried several different zips locations with the same results...dirty poorly pressed clothes. I say spend the money and go to a real dry cleaners. read more

RUN DO NOT WALK BUT RUN PAST THIS LOCATION!!!!! If I could give this place zero stars I would!! I read the reviews and went against my better judgement and decided to try it. I took 3 brand new dresses (2 white) in to be dry cleaned. None of them look like they had been cleaned. I actually saw a worker put a burst of steam on a shirt then put the clothing item on the presser for about 5 seconds then hung it up!! One white dress looked like it was like a dingy grey instead of white. The other dress had a removeable "stick-pin" bow. I picked up my dress and the pin was missing and the dress was DIRTY!! The bow looked like a second grader ironed it with a cold iron!! How can a brand new dress be dirty????? I went back and forth with the manager because he did not want to repair my dress!!! I became more angry and insisted that he do something to compensate my damage. The manager said he could get the seamstress to sew the bow onto the dress. I said "NO" the dress had the option of taking the stick-pin bow off or on NOT TO BE SEWN ON. He then took a safety pin and demonstrated what I wanted and I said, "Yes, just do not sew it on, use a stick pin." Well I picked up my dress and it had two snaps on the collar!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!??? My dress is RUINED!! I specifically asked him not to sew anything on there!! If I take the bow off, there are two big snap devices on the collar which are noticeable if I do not wear the bow!!! I am beyond angry!! Did I forget to mention that there is now a stain on the back of the dress, a brand new dress??? I asked to speak to the manager and he was gone for the day!! You better believe I will be back up there tomorrow to express my ANGER AND FRUSTRATION!! I'm begging you, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS PLACE!! I had going to K.S. Okay for everyday stuff, but, you definitely get what you pay for. The shirts are all bunched together with the sleeves crumpled in front of them and they don't press the pleats in your dress pants. Also, they can't seem to put the crease in the same place twice. I wouldn't trust them with a nice suit, I'll pay a little more and take it elsewhere. One other thing, if you ask for a price to clean something, expect it to change when you bring it in. I was very clear about what I wanted done when I asked and I was given two different answers. Always breaking buttons on normal places for buttons to be. Doesn't matter if it's old shirts or new shirts or new buttons they just put on the week prior. They will not replace them, even when it's obvious they damaged it due to carelessness, and will be condescending to you when you call them out for it. Terrible care, horrible customer service. This place needs to be shut down or have its manager changed immediately. You take clothes to places like this because they're supposed to be professionals and be good at what they do. If all I'm losing is either time if I do it myself or a dollar more per garment if I go to any of the other dry cleaners in town or ANY OF THE OTHER ZIPS, EVER, then I'll gladly do so. read more

If there was a way to give this cleaner a negative zero rating, I would! I have given them numerous chances to be professional! My clothes either come out dirty, torn, lost or not cleaned at all. Today was the last day I will ever go there (except to try and get my money back!). I had five items. Two of them had sequins on the top. When I dropped them off, I was told they could clean it. When I picked them up they changed their minds! I also had one winter shirt that was placed on a hanger, with no plastic and never cleaned. Out of my five items, they were only able to give me two back. When I asked for my money back, I was told they could only give store credit! Why would I want to come back?!? Stay away! If you have a problem, they won't fix it. Zips in Crofton lost 2-pair of my pants. That was in December 2016. I had the receipts and they even showed me video of the wrong people receiving what they said were my pants. They then had me fill out a form for a refund; which I did. I AGREED TO a refund of $54 which was supposed to be sent within 10 days. That was 4 months ago. Now, after three in-person visits to the store, I've received one run-around after another. The Manager Abdul has been no help, always saying "the refund was submitted" to the corporate office and I should get the check this week. He will not give up a name to contact at corporate. I was contacted by Zips corporate office the same day I posted this and was told the owner of the store would contact me. Well, that was two weeks ago and not only has the owner not contacted me but their corporate office is also ignoring my calls. On a side note....I just picked up my cleaning from a different dry cleaner and although it cost me about $15 more, the satisfaction knowing I was being taken care of and the customer service was well worth it. I took 2 dresses with jackets to have them cleaned of course, when i came to pick them up i found out that they didnt clean one of them because they thought that the fabric would bleed even though i took the exact same dress a while back to a different dry cleaners and they cleaned it no problem. To top it all off he didnt offer to refund me the money i had to ask for it; he reluctantly gave it back. Upon coming home i checked to see if the other dress was ok and to my surprise it wasnt, two brooches on the top of my dress were broken in half and the jacket was even more wrinkled than before. I will never be going back to that zips or any other zips and i advise you all to do the same. read more

Horrible business!! We wish we had read all the negative reviews about this cleaner BEFORE leaving our matching bedcover and shams with them. They lost the shams. They gave us they runaround. They didn't offer to help us make a claim. THEY CHARGED OUR CREDIT CARD for the items they lost but didn't credit it. The owner hasn't returned our phone calls. Filed a complaint with the BBB. They haven't responded to the BBB. The BBB gives them an F rating. It is much deserved. Don't give them your business. read more

I appreciate the frugality of this Zips, but I can't keep going there to have my sweaters hung on a hanger that stretches out the shoulders. When I asked if they could fold them over a hanger so this wouldn't happen, I was told that's why we should pick up our dry cleaning the next day. I dropped off 7 pairs of pants and a dress to be hemmed. I was told they would be ready by the end of the week. When I came back, I was able to pick up the dress but the pants were not ready. 2 weeks later they still weren't ready and no one knew where they were. Finally my pants were found and I was able t pick them up. The hem job looked great but after wearing the pants 2X the hem came out. This is after "normally" walking around at my job, nothing difficult! I have already re-sewed the hem on 5 of the pants after wearing them 2X. What a waste of money! I wish I could give it a big fat 0! I have had 3 shirts ripped on the left sleeve near the elbow as a result of Zips. Of course each time they told me that they received the shirts that way. That is truly not the case but they continue to tell me this is on me and not their fault. I have been getting dress shirts cleaned for over 40 years at various dry cleaners and not once have they denied cleaning because of a tear in the shirt. Yet with 3 tears in the same place on 3 different shirts at Zips and somehow they want to tell me that this is on me? Sweaters come back twice as long as they were when I put them in your cleaners. I guess this is truly a situation where you get what you pay for. I highly recommend that folks stay away from this store, not that it matters because the overall attitude there among employees and management is that they don't care. Terrible. $1.99 is overpayment, considering you have to take your clothes to a REAL dry cleaner immediately after Zips. They don't actually clean anything. They press everything, half of it poorly, at that. if it was dirty, it still is. If it smelled, it still will. If it was stained, it's still stained BUT ALSO the stain has been heat pressed in. They accept credit cards now, do a fine job with their service, and they are relatively pleasant to the customers. I don't expect a red carpet rolled out, they're busy. I don't even need them to smile if they don't feel like it. This location has satisfied what I went there for every time, consistently. Not sure where all the hate is coming from, but I was surprised to see it. Their prices went up 30 cents a garment. Big deal, I don't see why they wouldn't. I dropped off my Army Service Uniform (ASU) trousers for dry cleaning; they have a bright gold nylon stripe down the sides. I've owned these pants for three years and have never seen a dulling effect. (I only wear them 1-2 times per month, so they are practically brand new and worth about $135.) When I picked up the pants, I noticed the gold was completely dull! I asked to speak with the manager (Abdul); he said it didn't happen there because they don't put any metal up against the material. Why would he say that? I didn't claim that metal rubbed off or anything, just that something they did caused a major dulling of my gold stripe. I told the manager I disagreed, but I had to go to an appointment. I went back today and showed his assistant the damage and she said I needed to come back when Abdul is there. I should have read these posts before going because I'm sure I'll get the same run-around. Oh, and the pants are part of a matching suit -- the jacket, which they did not clean--is nice and shiny, so now I have a mismatch and my whole uniform is unserviceable! Thanks ZIPS! NOT! read more

Please do not go here. They've ruined two sweaters and 5 button down shirts. They use a press system that rips buttons off and/or breaks them. They hang sweaters on hangers so the necks stretch out. Even after going back to them many times with problems they accused me of breaking them and trying to get them to pay for them. I've lost over $300 in clothes in just the past few months. Yes, this is a discount cleaners but I have given up. They cannot clean or press shirts. I recently took my shirts back to them because they were clearly not starched, potentially an oversight but they were also extremely wrinkled and the collars were not folded correctly by any stretch of the imagination. The kid I took who helped me seemed ok in getting them redone but an older worker interjected and said that older shirts don't hold starch. If that is true that is fine but many of these shirts are less than 6 months old, so the other worker may have been wise not to presume that the issue was the customer. Regardless, when I returned to pick up my reworked shirts I noticed yet another customer inspecting his shirts and picking out many to get redone - must be old shirts. In addition a woman was in line behind me with a collection of her own that she was not satisfied with for some reason. Way to ruin a good business model. Gambrills location is not worth using and I will be forced to go elsewhere that is either more costly or less convenient. Shame. read more

No. They seemed more focused on processing your order and getting you out the door and that's perfect for me. The quality of work is great. Zips is good with me. Terrible! I've always been disappointed with the pressing job they have done; I was more concerned about dry cleaning and understood that I would have to fix their poor pressing job myself. But A couple of weeks ago I dropped off a tuxedo to be dry-cleaned and pressed. Again I immediately I would have to press the tuxedo. But I then saw that ALL the buttons on the tuxedo were gone. When I complained to the manager, I was told that a) they were not responsible for any buttons and b) that this was common and it was due to the caustic chemicals that they used melting the buttons. I have used this dry cleaners for several years. I believe I have finally come to my point of never returning because the service is abysmal. If you don't point out issues, for example stains, they will most likely be on your clothes when you pick up, with no indication that an attempt to remove was made. I frequently bring in my husband's button-down dress shirts and I constantly have to ask them to clean the collars and cuffs. Even after making that request the job is usually not done well. Many times I pre spot and wash before I even bring them; I'm really just bringing to be pressed. They take no pride in ensuring that your clothes are actually clean, I believe they just get to the final press to get it out the door. There is no quality assurance or quality of service for this establishment. The people are polite and accommodating but they do not take pride in their work. They are also amenable to redoing the work if you have issues but it is additional time and money to do this. Today is the last day I will deal with them. I guess you get what you pay for, it is the cheapest gig in town. :-( read more

Dry cleaning is a racket, everyone knows it, which is why discount cleaners became popular in the first place. But if you are going to have a discount business in a town like Crofton (where the majority of the demographic has the disposable income for expensive dry cleaning but would rather spend it on something else if they can) you might want to act like you care about your clients. Because my considerable dry cleaning volume will now be going to some other place that will cost me twice as much but at least I know that if they accidentally give my stuff to someone else, I'll get it back or it will be replaced. Oh, and Abdul, have you heard of a 'market maven'? It's a term used for someone who's opinion is held in high regard by their peers...when they love something, they tell everyone, and everyone buys it. When they DISLIKE something, the same follows. Unfortunately for your business, you are in my 'DISLIKE' column. I get that ZIPS is a discount cleaner...thus, I never bring my 'valuable' clothes here, but rather my 'regular' clothes....the ones I wear to work and replace every year or two. Up to now, by biggest complaint was when they pressed my pants the wrong way (how is it that people who do this for a living don't realize the crease DOES NOT go along the side seams???). I have given ZIPS every opportunity to fix their error, but after 3 weeks of waiting for an acknowledgement of my issue by OWNER ABDUL (my husband has gone in person three times and called twice and left messages each time) I'm ready to let people know how this dude handles customer service and fixing things when his people mess up. HE DOESN"T. A few weeks ago, we brought in a number of items, one of which was a pair of black capri pants (approx. $40 value, not breaking the bank). When my husband brought home our cleaned items, he had the correct number, but instead of the black pants, we had a white shirt, which was clearly not ours. He called, explained the situation, and promptly returned the other customer's shirt. He was told that the other customer would be contacted and that we would get a call when my pants had been returned. After a few days, my husband popped in to see if the pants were there....they were not. He left his contact info for the owner/manager (neither of whom are ever there, FYSA) to call us about the issue. He did not receive a call after waiting a reasonable amount of time. He stopped in a second and third time, at different times of day, with the same result...no manager or owner on site, left a message, no return call. Oh, and still no returned black pants. At this point, we don't even know if they contacted the other customer at all. Today, my husband called at lunchtime and was told that Abdul has been given our messages, but only comes in a couple hours a day. The manager doesn't come in until around 4 (but has never been in when my husband has gone in after 4) but probably won't be in at all. I don't hold the dry cleaner responsible if a customer doesn't return my pants that were mistakenly given to them....but I DO hold them responsible for making the error and either reimbursing me for the pants, or giving us services of equal monetary value to make up for their mistake. The fact that our issue is still yet to be acknowledged is bad enough, but these people clearly have no care for their clients, no care for customer service, and no system for handling loss and damage issues, which are bound to arise in this business. read more
