I got off work at 7pm and decided to ride to Zips to pick up my comforters. I parked got out and noticed the middle door was locked by not fully closed. I saw that the door on the end was opened and walked in. Immediately, a lady on the ladder started yelling " We are closed, " We are closed! I stated " I just want to pick up my comforters. Again she said we are closed. Two ladies said they would help me get my comforters. The lady got off the ladder and said to the guy that she was helping " We close at 8pm not 8:02. I asked the ladies her name and they didn't want to respond so I asked the rude employee what is her name and she rudely said " You don't need to know my name". The customer she was helping said to me that was not necessary. It really wasn't. My review is for Zips to address with the worker. Everything is about customer service and I did not get that tonight. I am leaving this review for the proper management to get in touch with me in regards to this rude employee. After moving to the area, I chose Zips as my dry cleaner since my previous provider was no longer conveniently located. Typically, I evaluate service after three visits before sharing feedback. 1. On the first visit, the staff member was attentive and took notes for each instruction. The pressing on several pairs of slacks resulted in two creases rather than one. 2. The second visit was also handled by helpful staff. When picking up three long evening dresses, the covers did not fully protect the dresses, causing them to touch the ground. 3. During the third visit, the staff was friendly. The person assisting did not take notes but indicated instructions would be followed. A formal skirt suit with sequins was declined for cleaning due to concerns it could be damaged. 4. Upon removing a shirt from the protective cover, there were oil spots present that had not been originally targeted for removal. 5. Some items were laundered instead of being dry cleaned as requested. While Zips offers an efficient and cost-effective model, my preference is for more thorough garment care, which I have experienced at my former dry cleaners. This might be my first ever review. I rarely review places but this zips location is so horrible I have to. If I could give a zero. I would. One of the worst dry cleaners. DO NOT USE. I sent my white comforter to be dry cleaned but when I went to pick it up, a lot of brown/orange spots were suddenly on it. Their customer service is absolutely horrible too. I asked if a manager could speak with me and they made a bunch of excuses as to why they couldn't. The workers said the manager would call me but I am still waiting. First the folks who work at this location are always very polite but I took a pair of slacks there to be hemmed as it's original hem fell out on one side which cost 16.00. I go pick up my order and I get home and find that they didn't hem the pants but dry cleaned them. I took them back and was promised to they would be ready by 5 pm the same day. Well I haven't had time to go up there and pick them up but I hope that they can find them as the agent told me that I didn't need a receipt to pick them up. I think there is too much volume at this location and the reason why they can't deliver the type of service a smaller more expensive in cost cleaners could provide. Again very polite staff and I typically don't give reviews but I think feedback can improve service long term. read more

They say you get what you pay for so I guess the labor it takes to put clothes on a hanger and the cost of plastic costs $3.49 because my clothes have never been satisfactory after multiple attempts. It's unfortunate because its a great business model but the quality is fair. read more

I have been going to this cleaners for years. I recently toook my pants/ slacks to get dry cleaned. When I picked them up. They scorched my black pants. I then call and spoke to store manager Gina. This lady going to tell me that they did not do this they don't use an iron. She tried to convince me they did not do this to my pants. So she claims it looks like a spill and put it in for a redo and she will call me. I did not like her answer but will give them the opportunity to fix it. I am happily surprised at the quality of this location. Most zips I've been to in the past are hit or miss. I've been coming to this one for the last 2 months and so far it's been a hit. This dry cleaner is incompetent. I explicitly asked for no straight pens in the skirts because they leave holes and of course the staff still put them in there. When you pay $200+ for work skirts (Elie Tahari)and $295 for a Sandro Paris skirt from Bloomingdale's, you'd appreciate staff following directions. And If they lack proper hangers, they could at least put the pins in the inside lining do avoid DAMAGING someone's clothing. This Dry Cleaner will never get my business again. They ruined one of my dresses 2 months ago. Said they would order a new replacement dress online from the store I purchased it from. It has been over 2 months. No dress. I have been to the location 3 times. Have been given a different story each time. The Manager has yet to call me about the dress after the first call 2 months ago. I ordered two dresses from the company online last month and they came within 1 week. They could have just paid for the dress by now and I could have purchased a new one myself. Don't use this cleaners. I recently brought in a pair of pants just to be dry cleaned and when they were returned the same day the patch on the side was missing like someone took it off or made a mistake and replaced it with tape. Well, I really want to like this particular cleaners because you are able to drop off clothes 24 hours if you buy the laundry bag & it's convenient. However, my first experience with the drop off was not a good one. When I went to pick my clothes up they were not ready. Ok, I arrived a few minutes before 5 pm. Ok, I get that. I returned in an hour and a half later and was able to pick up my clothes but the problem was when I was about to wear them the next day, I discovered they only pressed the pant legs so they appeared to be dry cleaned but did not dry clean them at all, and of course, I could not wear them. They did not smell clean & still had wrinkles at the top of the pants as they did when I bought them to the cleaners. This is unacceptable and I got ripped off and was deceived. That was rachet!!! A total waste of my time and money! NEWS FLASH!!! They did it again with 5 pants. The pants did not smell clean but were pressed to appear like they were clean. I had to Febreeze spray them!!!! Most clothes that are dry cleaned at least smell like the dry cleaning solution they use. These smelled the same as they did when I bought them in to be cleaned, sadly enough. When i dropped off my comforter, I advised the front counter person of a stain (oil or lotion), I even pinned the stain so that the cleaners would be aware of it. Once I picked up the comforter, I noticed the stain was still there. Used stain remover and soapy water and gently rubbed the fabric. Once dry, the stain was gone. What are you using to clean with? Or are you just throwing in a tub, and hope for the best. Very disappointed. read more

I had the worse experience at Zips dry cleaners. I took my curtains there to be dry cleaned. I took them there on Thursday and was told they would be ready by Monday. I decided to go at 9am to pick them up but they said they weren't ready. I was ok with that so I came back after 5. When I got there the employee went to the back to get my drapes but came back WITHOUT MY DRAPES. I said to my self oh boy!!! I tried to stay calm, but I knew something was wrong. Another lady came back who I assume was the manager. She said "we had a problem with your drapes". I looked in the back and they were laid out on the counter. I could tell they were not finished. I asked what was going. She said the material was too delicate and they could not be dry cleaned. I decided to walk to the back and take a look at it. Literally, it looked like someone took a pair of scissors and cut up my curtains to shreds : (( I couldn't believe it. What bothered me the most is that they didn't want to take any responsibility. All she kept saying was it was the material. I told her if they knew the material could not withstand their machine, someone should have contacted me before they started with the process. No one called me! No one said anything when I dropped them off. No one said a word about the material. Also it seemed like they were trying to cover it up when I came to pick it up. She refunded my money, and then had the nerve to ask me if I wanted some curtains that someone had left behind. I was so upset and disgusted. Do not go there to get anything dry cleaned, especially if its something special that requires extra attention. I guess if its a old shirt you don't care about I guess it will be ok. They are only $1.99 and I see why. You get what you pay fore. They put no time and attention to their work and take no responsibility. The cost of my curtains were $20. I am going to write a letter and ask that they refund me for the cost of replacing these curtains. They were part of my home and I am so upset that they ruined them. I asked for my white shirt to be washed and pressed. i noticed when I got my shirt home that there was a stain on it and the shirt was not pressed. The spot appears to look like the black writing that is on the cleaner tags. When I took the shirt back, the young lady at the counter took it to the back. The lady tried to say that she remembered my shirt and that it had another stain on it. There is no other stain on my shirt and the stain is basically under the collar. Cleaners receive tons of white shirts so how can the lady say she remembered my shirt?? I left my shirt to be recleaned. The spot is still there and they still did not press the ties on the sleeves. They did not accept any responsibilty for damaging my shirt nor did the lady come out to speak with me. She sent messages through the young lady at the front counter. So disappointed! I really wanted to love this ZIPS! They totally ruined my brand new pleated skirt. My skirt had crisp pleats when I dropped it off; however, when I picked it up, no pleats AT ALL! I took it back to them, and they gladly said they would fix it! Went to go pick it up again...NO PLEATS! This time, I didn't leave and immediately asked for the manager. She was nice and saw exactly where the staff "steamed the pleats out." She said give her until Monday (it was Saturday morning) and it will be ready! I said no rush and no problem. Just went to pick it up after two weeks and still NO PLEATS. This place completely ruined my new skirt because of their lack of attention to detail! I brought clothes for the first time last week. I've never used a dry cleaner in my life but I thought I'd try it for my work uniforms. Heavy starch, pressed. The shirts and pants were great, the aprons didn't seem starched at all so for attempt#2 I decide to take everything but the aprons. Pants again look pretty good (I haven't looked at the pair for today yet) but the shirts didn't seem to have starch based on the shirt I wore to work last night. Today I go to grab my shirt for the morning and it's FULL of wrinkles and likely no starch. So here I am rushing to redo what I paid to have done before I have to work. If I have to do it myself anyways, I think I'll just stick to that or find another place to take my stuff. I don't know what was done to my shirt but it was put on the hanger with the collar folded so that entire part of the shirt was full of really deep wrinkles as was pretty much the rest of the shirt. 25 minutes later I steamed most of the wrinkles out but I'm very disappointed with the work done this time around. The shirt had been hanging up in the bag since I picked it up Friday evening so I was expecting to take it out looking pristine. Not the case at all. Rude and with an attitude. I often use this location for my dry cleaning. Today I went to drop off a suit. I pointed out a stain on the sleeve. As the employee was about to put it in the bag I asked her if she was going to put tape on the stain to mark it. She said, with an attitude, "we don't have tape". I said that when I dropped off another item a few weeks prior the woman put a piece of red tape on the stain. She said it again, with a little more stank, "we don't have tape". I asked if they don't use it or if they are out. She again said, with a roll of her neck, we don't have tape. I asked why the attitude. She accused me of having the attitude. Huh? Not only did I not have an attitude, but unless I missed something, I am the customer. I just wanted to make sure my items were going to be cleaned properly. Needless to say, I took my items back. I'd give this Zips 0 Stars if I could. So, this was my first time going to a Zips cleaners. Recently opened not too long ago so I thought I'd give it a go. Wrong choice which I regret. I live in Bowie and work in VA so I always drop my clothes off on my way to work every week. I took my clothes to Zips on Saturday and they created my account. I gave the cashier my information and even spelled out my name for her, yet she managed to misspell both first and last name. She asked me how I wanted my clothes cleaned and I told her all pants with the crease (should've been more specific by telling her to use the same creases the pants already had) and NO STARCH on my shirts. She wrote the information in my profile for future drop offs and I handed my clothes in. I paid and the clothes were going to be ready on Monday. I receive an email on Monday letting me know my clothes are ready so I go pick them up after 5pm. The cashier that helped me on Monday was very nice. She brings the clothes over and I let her know 5 of the 6 shirts aren't mine. Somehow, they managed to mix up my clothes with someone else and even had my name on all of the tags. They go look at the cameras to see what my shirts look like and found them after several minutes. They had someone else's name on them and I'm assuming that person had my name on his clothes. I get home and hang my clothes up. The next day I take one out to wear and the button from the collar is broken. Not only that, since that other person wanted I'm assuming extra starch on his shirts, guess what all of my NO STARCH shirts had? Yup, extra starch. I had to drop them off to my regular cleaners to get everything cleaned and fixed again. It doesn't stop there. The pants I asked to have creases now have TWO creases going down the middle. Worst experience I've ever had at any cleaners. I will never go back to this place even if they offer free dry cleaning. I learned my lesson. BEWARE read more

If I could give this place a zero stars I would. While the staff was professional and kind, the finished product was garbage. My clothes came back to me wrinkled and as dirty as when I took them there. The smelled of perfume and all of the smells that clothes that have been worn but never cleaned would smell. I took a quick look at my clothes before I left and they sent one shirt back for what they call a redo. But, when I got those clothes home I was so disappointed. They were wrinkled from being in my clothes bag and they were covered in lent. I know you say that if you pay so little for your clothes then you get what you pain for. This should not be the standard for this business when they boast that they clean your cloths like other cleaners who charge more. This will be my new cleaners!!! This ZIPS is pretty new, I asked and they said they opened about 6 weeks ago. I tried this ZIPS because it's on my way to/from work. This store is very clean, as expected, it's new. Based on other reviews I was a little nervous. On Friday 2/8 around 6:30pm, I took 1 pair of dress pants(with crease)and 1 dress shirt, sprayed them with perfume before I left home, and crossed fingers when I dropped them off. At ZIPS, I gave them my info and received the keychain card. The cashier asked about how I wanted them cleaned(shirt-no starch, pants-creased), she informed me they'd be ready on Saturday 2/9 after 5. I picked my clothes up Saturday, tried on both pieces to make sure they didn't shrink, checked the crease to make sure they used the existing, and sniffed to see if I could smell the perfume I sprayed prior to drop off. Everything was great! Even while I was waiting to pick up my clothes an associate was asking how was service and asking for suggestions. I take clothes to my regular dry cleaners about once a week and being a female every piece costs a different amount and way more than it would if I were dropping of men's clothing, so this is a welcomed cleaners. I hope when people choose to review ZIPS - Lanham they are leaving it on the correct location. Both locations, Bowie and Lanham are on Annapolis road!
