Finally....a restaurant that knows what it is, and executes it beautifully! Don't get any big expectations here. This is a typical neighborhood "joint". A greasy spoon, without the grease. It's standard diner fare, but they get it right! First, it is clean! You can tell that they actually care about the restaurant. It's a very small restaurant, and whenever we have eaten here, there has only been 1 server, but the server has always been a pro. A good old-fashioned server who doesn't tell you their name, (who cares) and doesn't try to upsell you constantly, but who anticipates when you need an iced tea refill, places the proper condiments on the table prior to the meal arriving...and does it with a smile! One of the few restaurants where it seems that the servers actually know how to be servers, and are able to juggle more than two tables at a time, while being upbeat and friendly. You will be amazed at just how low the menu prices are. 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast are just 4.99! An Angus burger with bleu cheese for 4.99!!! Excellent prices, and the portions are actually decent! The food is very flavorful and properly prepared. Lots of nice little touches, such as special seasoning on breakfast potatoes, and fried mushrooms that look and taste like they are hand-battered. While the menu is basic, unlike most diners, it seems that many of the dishes are completely prepared from scratch, and I have yet to experience a meal that isn't really, really good. read more

There business is terrible. Food was terrible and made me want to puke. The manager is a fucking dickhead. And the waitress is a total bitch. God bless her soul. They have been there forever. Servers are really good, greet you when you walk in, and come right over to get drink orders, etc. Food is basic diner fare, good breakfasts, burgers, sandwiches. We went for breakfast, and I had the 2+2+2, which is the same everywhere...eggs, sausage (or bacon) pancakes (or french toast.) Zig's also serves it with potatoes. Food was good, not greasy like one might expect at a place like this. Only complaint is that the potatoes are way too garlicky. Especially for breakfast. Otherwise, a really good meal, for an awesome price! (Two of us ate breakfast, including two coffees, for $20 which included a generous tip.) Looking forward to going back for a burger. Interesting little joint we have here. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the extremely short bar. I must admit that I had a good laugh about that. So if you're tall like me, the bar is out of the question. The waitress we had was a bit frightening. She sort of shouted at us the entire time. Nice girl though. I just ate at Zig's for the first time and loved it. The atmosphere is that of an old school Truck Stop Diner and still has Rounded Bar seating, which is where I chose to sit as opposed to a table. The walls are decorated with their regular customers. I love when places do that bc it means they value their customers. I had the Biscuits and Home Made Gravy with Eggs (which was huge btw ) The crowd at Breakfast time seems to be older gentleman that would appear to be regulars. The waitresses were very nice and attentive. I felt like I was at one of those down home truck stop diners somewhere in Texas like they always show in the movies, which is why I liked it so much.
