    Chicken tostada

This is my "Golden Ox of Reseda." If anyone's been to The Golden Ox in Bakersfield, you'll understand. Diner food, generous portions, at takeout prices. Cashiers that recognize like family. Random coin toy machines in the back. Couple of TVs showing movies. Good amount of seating. Transparent menu and pricing. Specials on a dry erase board. One wizard chef in the back that makes the world go round. It's everything I ever wanted in a hometown meal. Word to the wise, hit up the fried zucchini, best in the valley. Super crispy, healthy portion, get lots of ranch. The chili cheese fries are messy good fun (also with ranch). Fries are also scrumptious; the Athenian special mix of seasonings make this a special salty treat. The have the seasoning mix in small to-go containers as well if you want a stronger helping. Burgers are solid, the chicken tostada is filling, and I love myself a good patty melt. This is also perfect drunk or hangover food. Power up that GrubHub app and order from here if you want to soak up the libations with happiness.

Saw the reviews of their breakfast burritos and I finally tried them today. What I really appreciated was the burrito was not oily. It had a very generous amount of potatoes which was overkill for me. I wanted the bacon a little more crispy (just my liking). They could use a better salsa as well. Not too bad, but I feel like it could be worked on a little bit better. I got the 2 item breakfast burrito - sausage and bacon inside.

WOW!! Food was amazing and so was the service. Upset I haven't found this place sooner!! I found my new place for great food and deals. Ambiance was very sweet as well, love how it was decorated with Greek embellishments. Hidden Gem!!

Dinner special, with a half serving of rice and half serving of fries, Greek salad, one chicken and one beef kabab.

Our adult children go to school in Santa Clarita and Malibu and we were looking for a place to meet up for dinner that is about half way between the two. We enjoy middle eastern and Mediterranean food and after looking at reviews of restaurants in the Canoga Park area we landed on Athenian Grill based on their reviews and the price point. It did not disappoint! We ordered the kabob dinner for four, with two chicken and two beef kababs. The food was excellent, very tasty and generous portions. While the ambiance was a bit dated and could use a refresh, that did not detract from our experience. The atmosphere seems more like a fast food restaurant, but the experience was anything but. You can tell that the food is made fresh on site and is prepared with care. Juanita as managing the counter and she was so friendly and helpful. We would definitely come back again.

One of the best Greek Salads I've ever had The chicken is fresh, the veggies are fresh and it's perfect every time! I don't recall ever having a bad experience out of 100+ times I've ordered from here Great service and great staff! Atmosphere is also stellar, 5/5 Stars easy

One Breakfast Burrito with 1 Item $10 The green salsa is so so yummy, and the breakfast burrito was also a very yummy. Been struggling to find a solid simple yummy breakfast burrito here in the valley and have now found my new spot. Would 100% buy again!

Not the best Greek bites. I like mine with generous meat servings, and some decent sides. So while they are flavorful, the overall plate or sandwich is probably a fair 6/10 on the satisfaction scale. We had both the lamb and chicken, but neither of us were ecstatic. However, the burgers were a surprise hit. I went with 3 of my kids, who are the de facto family burger connoisseurs, with very individual preferences (one likes grilled onions, nothing else, two of them hate tomatoes, one hates lettuce, etc, etc). The great thing is that each of them was more than satisfied, and have regularly requested return visits. Highly recommend for the burgers and value prices.

Kabob place with chicken and beef so freaking good!

He ordered the K-style toast and I got the tteokbokki--both were absolutely delicious! Word of caution: I completely missed the warning on the menu stating that the tteokbokki is meant for two people. They were definitely not kidding, and I couldn't even finish it! The setup here is super student-friendly. They have free water available, plenty of tables, a bathroom, and even an upstairs area we didn't get to check out yet. We stayed for about two hours and got so much done. Just a heads-up that it does get a little busy, so if you need absolute silence to focus, it might not be for you. But for us, the background buzz was perfect. We will definitely be back for future study sessions!

When i asked about my order i guess another person misheard their name and accidentally took my order (which happens) but after letting them know other people's orders were still sent out and similar to our order which was a beef tapa plate and Sean's burrito. An hour and 15 mins in I had to go up and ask for a refund because we had to go and I was told they just started my order and I saw the order on the end of the line. Personally I would've made the order who was waiting the longest first and have new orders wait a little more since they haven't waited as long as us, especially if the orders are very similar because everyone was getting the same plates and burritos

On that visit, I met Joyce the owner, and she happily served me my meal that day, and I had an exceptional experience. I left Joyce's coffee shop a very satisfied five star review later that day. The last time I came, Joyce was not present again (she works weekends). Today I tried to visit Joyce again, but forgot she works weekends--but today I met Ms. Faith. Faith's customer service was above and beyond. The warmth. The friendliness. The pride in her work and her role in the Joyce's Coffee Shop family. The joy. The most charming smile and energy. The enthusiasm. The work ethic. I wanted Faith to join me for my meal, but she never stopped working, and she had no break planned. Faith is actually a former bartender with many years of experience. She made millions of dollars in tips over the years, because all the drunks would fall in love and hand their wallets over to Faith. She was great at what she did. Patrons would go to her bar, sit down, and blackout just because they were there to chat with Faith for as long as possible. Of course they couldn't just sit there--so they'd just order drink after drink. And drink. And tip. And then ATM. And then more drinks with Faith. Tips tips tips. Faith made millions as a bartender (that's how she bought her Bentley coupe). As a bartender, she even got a 3 wedding proposals, and 4 "modeling" offers . And Faith LEFT the money and the fame--once she discovered Joyce's Coffee Shop. Faith knew she wanted to be in that warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere--as often as possible. Faith applied for work at Joyce's, then followed-up daily with Joyce's for 2 weeks--and ultimately earned herself a spot on Team JCS. The food was 5-stars--as always. It's as goods as eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes and hot coffee get. The environment was another 5-stars--always clean, always welcoming and always playing carefully curated playlists of yesterday's biggest hits. Joyce's Coffee Shop has been in business since 1955, and they've done such a great job of not only preserving the original dining room setup and upholstery, but also the original owner's commitment and dedication to great food in a welcoming environment--produced and served by the best customer service. And sitting in Joyce's Coffee Shop is like sitting in a blast from the past. It's classic. It's retro. It's vintage. It's well-preserved. Joyce's Coffee Shop is part of San Fernando Valley history. It's kinda like a Valley historical landmark. It's definitely a San Fernando Valley treasure. It's on its 4th owner, and it was never sold to a new owner that wasn't fully committed to the original owner's original mission. The diner mission of "as good as it gets," and "keeping it that way"--I love that. All staff is warm, friendly and welcoming. Even the customers are warm, friendly and welcoming--they all seem to know exactly where they are, and thats why they are there. Have you ever watched the classic TV show "Cheers"? That show about a bar where everybody knows your name? Just like that TV bar, Joyce's gives that "local feel"--the best feel. You'll never get that at Denny's, IHOP or Norms. I live in Woodland Hills so I'm rarely in Northridge, but if I am around in the AM or lunchtime -- I hope to visit again. Food -- 5 stars (I'm still stuffed) Environment -- 5 Stars (clean & cool) Service -- 5 [hearts on fire emoji] 5 stars -- (only because I can't give 6) PS: I forgot to mention that Mrs. Joyce's husband Mr. Joyce is the head chef at JCS. I forgot to mention this because I have yet to meet Mr. Joyce--but I guess Mr. Joyce's reputation will precede him in my case, (that's if I ever even get a chance to meet Mr. Joyce). Not only is Mr. Joyce the head chef, he's there 7 days a week, making somebody's love-made food. And for anyone that could not connect these dots: he doesn't work 7 days a week because he has to. Mr. Joyce works 7 days a week because there's nothing he would rather be doing, than preparing someone's great food with total care, at a business that's known for customers leaving with huge smiles for many decades. Nothing makes Mr. Joyce happier than ensuring everything coming out of JCS is "5 Star Quality"--as good as it could possibly get. He does it because the San Fernando Valley is lucky to have Joyce's Coffee Shop. 5 STARS.
