We probably waited about 15 minutes for our food. The service is ok and the food wasn't bad, the subs reminded me of NYC deli subs. I gave it 4 stars because this establishment needs organization and some renovations. Plus the area where the beverages and condiments are kept was messy and jumbled up. Otherwise not bad for a quick lunch.

Or chicken nuggets at 9? This place has you covered. The food is average, nothing to crave for, but it's filling and really aside from 7-11 who's going to give you a corn dog and onion rings at midnight? The staff is very friendly and you're greeted with a smile. And the food comes out quick. Overall three stars. There is a decent variety of items to pick from the menu. The prices are cheap and the food comes out hot.

So I wasn't sure how I would feel about this spot that has drawn such praise. Tonight I was gifted a barbecue sandwich with coleslaw on the side from this Janaf area location. It was the best barbecue sandwich I've ever had. The barbecue was perfectly prepared with a sauce that had a little bit of a kick, just enough hot to really add to the taste. The pulled pork couldn't have been better. It had absolutely no hint of fat. Normally I order barbecue without a bun because the bun overpowers the barbecue. Not so with Cook Out. The bun was small & flat and the barbecue itself was the main course of the sandwich. The coleslaw was perfect. It was prepared without all the sauce that some restaurants apply in an over abundance. After my first taste of Cook Out I will now "brake for a stop" to have that yummy sandwich again. Hurray for a fast food restaurant that's tasty and prepared well.

The restaurant was consistently busy as soon as I walked in but we were able to find a booth. Very cozy, no complaints on seating. The tenders are a little different from other chicken spots, but the toast is definitely the best part for me. The Cane's sauce is soooo good and the unsweet tea was actually really good too. My mom did say the chicken could use a little more seasoning, but overall it was a good experience and I'd go back.

My visits to the Raising Cane's Chesapeake location were two different experiences. The first was…read morea solid 5. The second was rounded up to 4. The food was equally good both times. I chose the Chicken Tenders Box Combo both visits. It consists of 4 large pieces of tender juicy chicken & true Deep South Cole Slaw prepared with a light sauce, just like I grew up with. Also included were Crinkle Cut French Fries & awesome Texas Toast. I opted out of their Special Sauce, which I am told is delicious by those who like dipping Chicken Fingers. Lemonade, which is really good, was my drink choice. Perhaps the difference in the visits has to do with time of day. The first visit was mid afternoon, having had a doctor's appointment in close proximity. The personnel were friendly & welcoming. What must have been the manager told us we should come back the next week, on their First Anniversary. We decided to support the restaurant on their Anniversary, meeting friends who lived in Chesapeake. The drive from the Shore Dr corridor to Greenbrier at rush hour was much longer than anticipated. So it was in the midst of the dinner hour when we arrived. The restaurant was extremely busy. The staffing seemed similar to our mid afternoon visit, which wasn't quite adequate to handle the dinner hour level of business. It wasn't an Anniversary crowd. My Chesapeake friends indicated that the restaurant was always that busy. The food tray came so quickly that I was still talking to one of their pleasant personnel, maybe a manager. Although we were able to order quickly, very soon there was a long line snaking past our table towards the back of the store. I was shocked when we left the restaurant at the extremely long line of cars waiting to go through the drive thru. The parking lot of the restaurant didn't come close to containing it. Told that it was always like this, I understood that the staff must be struggling to handle that many customers at one time. One big complaint on my second visit is that one of their 2 unisex, spacious bathrooms was completely out of toilet paper & paper towels. The soap dispenser had the front taken off, obviously by a patron trying to find soap. The inside replaceable plastic bag of soap refills had been squeezed, obviously in an attempt to get the last of the soap remaining. I planned to tell an employee the state of that bathroom but they were so busy that I decided to just return to my table. Obviously this was a good location choice for a Raising Cane's. But I do think they should increase their staffing level during the busy dinner hours. The location was filled with framed Chesapeake History. It was fun to walk around and see the articles & pictures. One was even a page from the 1955 Oscar Smith High School Yearbook. I'll return to this location both for takeout after a doctor appointment or to meet my Chesapeake friends. But I'll definitely leave earlier or take a different route. And I look forward to the opening of their planned Lynnhaven location.

I ordered gyoza dumplings as an appetizer and shrimp fried rice as my entrée. I like the fact that the food took a little longer than expected because that let me know that it was made fresh! The appetizer and entrée came all at once. I first tried the dumplings, and they were delicious. They were fried and filled with chicken. The fried rice was also tasty. It came with 8 large sized shrimp, peas, carrots, and eggs. Tasted authentic--not like your typical Chinese food from the corner. You can definitely taste the freshness. Seasoning wasn't overwhelming. It was perfect. The establishment was clean including the bathroom. The only thing is that the older lady that served us never smiled. Not once.

You can even buy the Grinch fries separately -- so the seasoning is clearly a core part of the promotion. We ordered two Grinch Meals and a Happy Meal ahead of time on the mobile app to save everyone time. We arrived at the drive-thru around 5:42 PM with only three cars ahead of us to get to the ordering screen. By the time we reached the order screen (6:03 PM), we let them know we were there to pick up our mobile order and gave my name and order code. After creeping through the line and finally making it to the pickup window, it was already after 6:16 PM. When the last items were handed out, I checked the Grinch boxes -- mainly to make sure our sauces were included -- and noticed there was no dill pickle seasoning. I told the attendant, and she went to check. She came back with, "Sorry, we've been out." Honestly, I was shocked. The seasoning is half the gimmick, and each Grinch Meal costs over $3 more than ordering the exact same items individually from the regular menu. If you buy "Grinch fries" separately, you also pay extra. So paying a premium for something the store didn't have -- and didn't warn customers about -- is incredibly misleading. When I said that the seasoning was the whole reason we ordered those meals, the response was basically, "Yeah, everyone's coming up asking and we're out. We don't have any." And that was it. By then it was well past 6:20 PM. We'd prepaid, waited nearly 40 minutes, and ended up overpaying for a promotion this location was completely out of -- with no notice at the order screen or anywhere else. We were never given the chance to change our order or request a refund before wasting all that time. Overall, the experience was ridiculous and honestly felt like a scam. If a store is out of one of the two main items that justify the higher price, customers should be informed before they pay or wait in line, not after the customer figures it out on their own later.
