We signed with Zen Windows at the end of July after being told--in writing--that installation would happen within 4-6 weeks. It's now mid-November, and not only are the windows still not installed, but the installation date was just pushed again to mid-December--almost five months after signing. We specifically reviewed the timeline because we wanted this done before it gets cold. We have booked dog daycare which has to be rescheduled, it affects our schedules, plans, and will massively impact our work, which is WFH. The measuring process was chaotic. The person sent to measure always gave last-minute notice and had to come out multiple times because they kept miscounting the number of windows--always short by one. Communication throughout this process has been terrible. You have to constantly follow up for updates; Zen never reaches out proactively or takes ownership of delays. Every update comes only after you chase them. When we brought up these issues, the company's response was to blame the original sales rep, who is "no longer with them." Convenient excuse, but the timeline and promises were in writing. Zen has taken no accountability for the misinformation or poor service. Yes, they may be cheaper than competitors, but you truly get what you pay for--unreliable timelines, lack of professionalism, and customer service that's downright egregious. Buyer beware! read more

Cheap horrible windows. All rooms and styles. Total waste of money. I am extremely disappointed. We could not even get the design we were quoted that set the whole project in motion. Thousands of dollars out the window. Pun intended. I'm so aggravated. read more

I contacted two window-replacement companies who refused the job citing bizarre problems with their insurance. A third was willing to take the job but wanted to come have an hourlong conversation with me about the specifications I wanted. Since I knew what I wanted, with Zen Windows I was able to make all my specifications online. No salesman came out to talk with me, only a technician to take the needed measurements. I was entirely happy with the transparency of the process and the results. I had also talked with another contractor, but the quote from Zen was significantly lower. read more

Outstanding. No pressure, no ridiculous in-home sales pitch. Clear and detailed info with multiple quote revisions & great suggestions from owner Matt throughout. We got quotes from lots of other places - save yourself time, money & headaches. Go with Zen. Responsive, great product, great install, & reasonable price. 10/10 read more

I hired Zen to replace 4 windows in my home 7 years ago. Horrible experience. I explained everything I wanted/needed, including insulation around the new windows to deal with drafts, and my requirements were ignored. Then the installers placed smaller windows inside the existing frames instead of using the correct larger window size, filling the gaps with raw wood that they chopped up out in the yard, and the window replacements are crap. Two have committed suicide (heard the loud CRACKS from across the room - the frames breaking, who knows why). Now they can't be opened or they slam down (once on my hand). I need to replace the crappy windows and I will NOT be calling Zen to do it! read more

Great experience dealing directly with Matt on replacement of all my ancient basement windows. Professional and timely, good communication.

I loved working with Matt at Zen Windows for the estimating and scheduling, and he and his crew were great during the installation - fast, professional, and cleaned everything up afterwards. The windows they installed are so superior to my other windows that I wish I could have them replace every pane in the house. Their prices are the same as other installers in the region, but I liked them a lot better than any other company I've worked with. I would work with this company again in a heartbeat, and will when I have my next window project next spring. Highly recommend. read more

Outstanding service, excellent high quality materials, hard working and locally owned! Zen Windows gave us amazing, efficient and affordable service from start to finish. Matt generated multiple quotes patiently, and he and his team got to work right away on total window replacements for our family home. It is a very rare thing to have the owner personally oversee a project directly onsite, as he was always available to answer questions thoroughly. He and his team did a complete cleanup as well - not one nail or wood piece left in the yard on cleanup. Even now, several years after the windows replacement, we are feeling the effects of fantastic energy efficiency! There is never a draft, the temperature is fully regulated, and we are saving hundreds (if not thousands) in our choice of windows! Thank you Matt & team for a truly enlightening experience! read more

I had some fairly significant water damage to a pair of windows in my Boston condo, and Matthew (the owner) responded to my call very quickly. At the time, I had thought we were going to have to rip out either the whole window set, or at least everything but the actual windows themselves, and since we're in a historic district, any replacements would have to meet a bunch of standards, and it looked like it would take several weeks to get the windows. Matthew took it upon himself to call around and do some additional research for us, including about some options we had never heard of before, some of which he didn't offer himself but was happy to direct us to someone who did. We ended up being able to (mostly) salvage our existing windows, so didn't end up needing Matthew's services in the end, but the fact that he took so much time to help us out -- even in ways that wouldn't have brought him any direct work -- was really commendable. If we do end up needing replacement windows in the future, he'll definitely be my first call. read more

We got two windows replaced at our condo with Matt and Zen Windows. It went exactly as you would want any transaction to go! Upon setting up the appointments, Matt was responsive, prompt, and friendly. Sent out all of the documents by email and we had a great paper trail. Updates on the status of the window order were also punctual and kept me in the loop of the status of everything going on. Finally, on installation day, Gammon & Kevin were polite and clearly knew what they were doing. They were on time. They handled the job with great care and made sure everything was done correctly. Matt, the owner, came by to check on how things were going very shortly after they began to replace the windows and was present to make sure everything was going as expected. Overall, a job well done all around. Highly recommend Matt and Zen Windows of Boston! read more

Last summer I used Zen Windows to replace most of our windows and they were great! I am going back to them again now to replace the remaining windows that we skipped last time. I would recommend them again and again, I am very pleased with their work - very professional and quick installation. read more

When we decided to replace 8 windows - nearly every window on the first floor of our 1920 house, we shivered with delight (and also the cold draft from said windows). We got multiple quotes, including those in-home creepy high-pressure sales pitches from Anderson Renewal masquerading as "free consultations" - and decided to go with Zen Windows because Matt was clear, concise, and not creepy. Communication was good, and they worked with our work schedule. Install took a day, and the guys were self contained and cleaned up after themselves. Matt's been back to our house a few times now, replacing additional screens and helping us choose a sealant for out older window frames. We're excited to have windows that open and close, and looking forward to a hopefully lower heating bill this winter. Zen's Lifetime Guarantee and Matt's responsiveness has made us really happy with our decision! read more

We had a great experience Zen Windows. Matt was very responsive to all calls and emails regarding the large picture window we had installed. We haven't had the best response to many home services contractors so this was refreshing and saved lots of time. The men that completed the installation were great. They seemed knowledgeable and left the house tidy of their materials. I would definitely recommend Zen Windows to anyone in the area. read more

I have never gotten a window replaced in my life, but I had a great experience with Zen Windows. I got 4 windows replaced. Matt was great and super low pressure. The installation guys that came to the house were professional, courteous, and quick. They did a wonderful job and we love the new windows! Thanks Zen Windows! read more

We're very happy with the windows! Kevin and Gama were excellent workers and pleasant and polite at all times. We enjoyed having them here. They knew exactly what they were doing and went about it steadily without a break until it was done. The windows seem to be installed very well. As best I can tell the fit is just right. They are very easy to use and the quality seem first rate to us. The process of choosing replacement windows and installation is confusing. It's hard to get the info you really need to comparison shop. Matt Rotondi, the owner of Zen Windows Boston, was very helpful with this. He answered all my questions and enabled me to do the needed research to make a sensible decision. We're very happy that we found Zen Windows and Matt read more

Having started with a different company when getting replacement windows, Zen Windows was a breath of fresh air. Matt is great to work with and made the whole process easy. The windows are fantastic, great quality and very reasonably priced. Plus, they look great! Install was fast, painless and professional. We can't recommend Matt and Zen Windows enough! read more

Zen Windows Boston manufactured, and installed, a replacement for a 1830s arch-top cottage style window for our home on Salem Commons. Their design fit right into the existing opening with almost exactly the same amount of clear glass area, and the divided light spacing as the existing unit. This was a challenging project with all the scrutiny of a "Historic" structure, and Zen handled all of the permitting and Historical Committee review. After taking detailed photos and measurements, the window was manufactured within 4 weeks. Installation took only 2 hours and was completed before cold weather set in. Workers were very friendly and professional. Finish trim and calking matched existing casing and trim. Excellent job! read more

Zen Windows was awesome to work with! Matt was efficient and accommodating in scheduling the installation and the windows look great. Highly recommend them! read more

Have you ever tried to get a price on replacement windows, and not devote hours to listening to salesmen pitches, in your home, requiring both parties with names on the property to be present. It's a major time commitment. Zen brings a fresh new way to engage with a qualified and professional contractor with solid products. I took a couple of pictures and measurements and sent them off to Matt. Within a day, a no pressure quote (quite reasonable) and offer to site visit to confirm my data was sitting in my email. I'm glad we chose Zen, as MAtt's team arrived when promised, and replaced my broken windows in a very satisfactory and workmanship fashion. Everything was cleaned, nice straight lines, not overly caulked, nothing was left behind ( now I need to wash all of my windows). So in the market for windows, drop Matt an email or call him. I'm sure you'll be happy you did. read more

Zen windows was amazing and our dealer, Scott Hale was professional, responsive and showed up the day of the installation to make sure all went well. We chose Zen after checking out about 5 other window places and the price, quality, warrantee and energy efficiency were the best. Sure there may be cheaper windows out there, but you pay for quality and these are going to last a really long time! read more

Zen Windows provided excellent customer service all around. We had a tough job - replacing an old bay window, with the exterior stairway right outside making installation complicated. We called around for quotes from several companies, and while the pricing of the job with Zen was commensurate with the other quotes we received, the communication and customer service from Zen was far, far above par. We never had to chase them for information or timing. Matt responded immediately to every question. The installation was complicated and took longer than expected, but at no extra cost to us. The crew took care with every step of the installation and even when they hit roadblocks, we never felt like we couldn't count on them to do it, and do it right. They did tremendous work. The window is gorgeous. They left the place clean and neat afterwards. Matt himself came by two times during the process to make sure it was going smoothly and to check in with us to see if we had any questions. All in all, a truly excellent experience. I highly recommend Zen Windows, and would definitely work with them again. read more

Zen Windows is absolutely the best!!! We have been wanting to replace all the windows and sliding doors and front door of our townhouse condo for years, but were held back by finding the right company. From the first exchange, we knew that Zen was the company for us!!! The owner, Matt, led us through the process of selecting and pricing with great support and no pressures at all - which had been a problem in vetting prior vendors. The team that installed our windows and doors was made up of the highest level of skilled craftsmen - each one talented and experienced, and thoughtful while working in our home. Cannot say enough about the amazing experience we had with Zen, and recommend to anyone in the Greater Boston area looking to replace their windows, sliding doors, front and storm doors. We are so happy with the end product and thank Matt and his team!!! read more

Fantastic experience with Matt and Zen Windows. I actually spent five months going back and forth with another provider--with no tangible results to show for it. I called Matt, and within two days I had an estimate, within one week the measurement was done, and within 2-3 weeks the whole job was done. Phenomenal customer service and great work--they made the process painless and easy for me. What a well-run company! I'd do business with them anytime. read more

The whole experience with Zen Windows and Matthew Rotondi was absolutely delightful. This is such a rare occurrence when it comes to a myriad of vendors. Knowing about my very busy work schedule, Matthew made sure that not a minute of my time went to waste. Showing a great level of expertise, Matthew was able to provide all the details I needed to make informed decisions, and he made sure that my needs were met in the most effective way. The quote provided was rapidly generated and clear, and no down payment was required; the full payment was given upon completion of the work and when complete client satisfaction was ensured. The installation of the windows was performed efficiently, cleanly and on-time. Throughout the process, Matthew was accessible by either e-mail or phone, during and after office hours, and he would follow up as quickly as possible. Overall, the level of professionalism and courtesy were impressive and unparalleled. The installation crew was respectful of my home, which was treated like it was their own. I have already recommended Zen Windows to my friends, colleagues and homeowners who are looking forward to do some renovations. I cannot express how grateful I'm for a job well done. read more
