Recently my wife and I decided it was time to do some renovations to our home. We we're in need of a new kitchen as it was the original one to our 1970s home. We were looking to install 2 exterior doors and chose DLM Remodeling to do the work. We were impressed with the knowledge that Dave showed during the initial proposal for attention to detail.The owner was not going to be available on the install date so showed up in advance to review the job with his project manager. Steve is absolutely excellent. I initially had him install new Harvey windows and a new front door and Bay window in my home. They came out great. During our initial conversations, I mentioned I was also looking for a new roof and new deck. He completed both of those jobs as well. I could not be happier with the results. He is always available, and responds to both emails and texts in timely manner. Almost unheard of in the contracting world. We have a house in Arlington that has been in our family for approx. 80 years that had fallen into complete disrepair and was in major need of a facelift. we were the ugliest house on the street, without question. I called multiple companies for bids, and I decided to use DLM after mainly because Dave was the most responsive owner who actually seemed like he really wanted the business. He came out to the house right away and met me to see what I wanted to do. I felt comfortable from him from the beginning, as i asked many, many questions, and he patiently answered every one. We went back and forth with very quick responses from him via email as i worked myself through the process of deciding exactly what I wanted to do (with his guidance). I settled on having 35 windows replaced, and a full siding/aluminum trim job on my entire home, which was a pretty big project in my mind, as its a two family home, and there didnt seem to be any surfaces that werent in need of major work. Dave assured me they did this all the time and if I chose his company I would be blown away by the results. He was right. The 35 windows were replaced in approx. 1.5 days of work, The siding project, which was LITERALLY removing every piece of old shingle and then replacing 99% of our home with a new facade, was started on a friday, the guys returned on Monday, worked through the week including Saturday from 730 until 630 or later every night with MINIMAL breaks in HOT weather in August up on scaffolding. They took Sunday off, then completed the job on Monday. The guys worked non stop. I am blown away by the transformation. My mother, who owns the house, cried when she saw the results. Ive had multiple people go out of their way to stop me to tell me we now have the best looking house on the street. if you had seen what our house looked like before, you would understand what a huge deal this is. Throughout the process, people walking by would stop to stare and talk about the results. I had two different people YESTERDAY who i dont know approach me outside of my house to get the contractors name and number. The biggest compliment that I can give Dave and his workers at DLM, is that as they were cleaning up my house, getting ready to leave on the final day, my mother took Dave aside to ask her when she could talk to him about a project she wants to do at her house, and I was trying to convince him to allow me to get back on the schedule so I could pay him for more work. The amount of cold air blowing through my old windows was anxiety producing and so was the task of replacing them ALL. Previously when I had considered the update I was harassed night and day by some shady "replacement window companies" that I knew I couldn't trust to do the job. Thus I put the project hold indefinitely until I felt I could manage and afford it. Later with the financial support of the MAss Saves program loan I set out to better my circumstance. Dave and his team really saved me (David himself came on Christmas Eve morning to measure). DLM also gave me the most competitive quote for Harvey classic windows, the best for my Cambridge triple-decker. My windows were installed in one day and fit perfectly. The added insulation blown in means my home is quiet and warm in the worst of Boston weather. With my old "ghetto" windows gone I now live in a palace! Even better was that they left my place clean and were kind to my dog who insisted on greeting them. Highly recommend this team for any project. I had 3 estimates from 3 different contractors to have 4 windows replaced. DLM provided not only the best price but I found them to be the most professional and honest. They didn't try to sell me more than what I needed or was looking for nor did they try any of the scare tactics that the other 2 contractors tried to pull. They told me 6 weeks from ordering the windows to installing and 6 weeks it was. They were in and out within a couple of hours - did a great job - removed all the old debris. Do a once over on your woodwork and floors at completion of job. We had 20+ windows installed and they completed in one day! This was impressive. The heat we save from the newly installed was nice. Unfortunately they left a lot of bumps and nicks along the way. I came home after job completion. A little frustrated that I had to move furniture back that they had moved. Noticed fresh deep scratch in floor. Coincidentally it was near a scratch I had caused a few months earlier so I let it go. Through the next few months I noticed a ding in just about every door frame in the house. The last straw was when I moved a bed to paint one of the window frames about 9 months after the project and noticed a huge gough in our hardwood floors. As I look back, these scratches, goughes, and nicks could not have been missed as they did them. The gough in the floor must have made a noise. Carrying a window frame and bumping it into a door frame is going to provide some resistance in your forward movement. Perhaps the young workers employed by the owner didn't share their mistakes but in the end a company is responsible for the quality of their employees. I wish I had done a thorough inspection and didn't find out these problems over the year since they completed the work. read more

I never had these guys done any work yet. I contact David to come out re-look at the window replacement project he seen last year. He agreed to come come out, NO SHOW. he claimed he was sick. understandable, but no phone call....... ? I waited at home for at least an hour. multiple emails and phones call try to get him to come out, he claim he is busy. Final got another schedule arranged to have him come again. Guess what, NO SHOW. NO call , NO answer call, NO return call. This was going on for over a month. waste me time to get the project done prior the temperature drop too cold. good luck to the people who decide to hire him. you may get delay............ read more

What a waste of time. I contacted Dave at the end of July. Dave looked at Google Maps to see my condo and told me, over the phone, that he could replace my windows. Then I waited and waited and he sent me an initial proposal with his first "sorry for taking so long" apology. Ok, not a problem. I thought this was strange and called Dave to ask if this was it, or if he would come to my condo to actually look at my unit?? The being 'jerked around' was just beginning. Dave finally consented to come to my home and I introduced him to other owners in my condo thinking he might like the future business , which he WILL NOW NEVER get. He told me he had many customers to meet on this day and I only had a 1/2 hour slot and told me he would send me a proposal after looking at my condo After he left I both 'very nicely' called and emailed Dave and heard nothing from him for 9 days Finally, he sent me an email telling me he could not do the job because I was on the 4th floor. Just to remind you. he looked at my condo in google maps and saw that I was a 3rd floor unit. I can't help if the original builder decided to rename the underground basement as floor one?? And it is underground!! But my real caution to those who read this is, if you hire someone and they 'jerk you around' for NEW business, what will they do if you need them to fix something they did on their warranty. I thought about DLR and based on his slow//disrespectful response to me(new business) decided that his warranty could not be trusted. Ironically I made this decision just a few hours before I got his email telling me I was on the 4th floor. I would have been fine, if he told me this on day one. Dealing with Dave is like dealing with voice mail where you get no where. read more

We were in desperate need of new windows so I called DLM remodeling. Great experience from start to finish. I received a very quick response from Steve and he was at my house within a couple of days to go over options and pricing. Their prices were much better than other companies and I was very happy with how the work went. Steve and his team installed 17 windows in one day and you'd never know they had been in the house (and this is saying something since it had snowed the night before).
