It was nice to be able to have Julia help me over the phone in figuring out the help I needed w/ my window. When Yuri came to fix it, it ended up more complicated than it seemed, which I didn't realize. He took the time to fix both the top & bottom windows. After a few days, there was some weird thing/sound going on, so he came back to check it out. Of course, there was another part that had to be replaced. Who knew windows were so complex? Not me. I've just had the glass in 5 windows and a door replaced. This is much more economical than replacing entire windows and doors and creates less landfill waste. I was able to schedule an appointment with Julia via Yelp rather quickly. Vitaly came by at the scheduled appointment on time and he quickly assessed the window of concern. He mentioned that it doesn't appear to be a frame concern and more with the external area (roof or gap along the siding) that is allowing water to drip in. He was at least able to fix my window screen for a reasonable cost. Vitaly is very helpful. He helped explain everything in detail and even drew a diagram of what he feels is the root cause of the problem with my window. Ultimately we feel it's a one time issue and shouldn't be problematic during regular rain storms. read more

We live in an old house with old windows and we are also in a historic preservation district. The windows are original to the house with layers of paint, some rotting and crumbling, quite literally. We could have replaced them, but chose to keep them. The majority of window restorers in the Greater Boston area charge three times as much because they take your windows away and completely rework/strip them. Vitali and his partner showed up in a van with power tools and were able to replace rotted sashes on site, install weather stripping for all the windows and got everything working really well again. The windows are still old and they look old, but now they actually work! These guys really know windows. We also had some missing screens on some newer windows. Vitali took some measurements and made (YES, literally made them) two new screens for us within a hour. Overall, I'm really impressed and happy to support this business. These guys did a great job of repairing four rotted casement windows in our house. They showed up early, set up their tables and saws in our driveway, and worked all day on the windows. Previously the windows wouldn't even close, and now they look like new. They're also working on replacing the fogged glass in a paladin window in our house. Before I found Good Window Works, I contacted Pella for the repairs, and Pella told me the only option was to replace the complete windows, no repairs possible. GWW repaired the windows for a fraction of the cost and a whole lot less construction hassle. Very reasonable price for this quality of work. The one thing that could have been better was providing an update while waiting for a piece of glass they needed to finish work on the arch window, so I didn't have to worry that something had gone wrong. Bottom line: If you have broken/rotten windows, don't pay a fortune to replace them, call Good Window Works and repair them. Better for the environment, and better for your wallet. One of our double hung Rivco wood windows got stuck on Sunday and we were unable to close it.  I contacted the https://goodwindowworks.com/  there and via Facebook messenger and received an almost immediate response.  Spoke to them on Monday morning and the owner Yuri came on Tuesday morning. We were very happy! Since these windows are just about 30 years old the metal pivot in the sash broke and got stuck preventing the window from moving.  Unbelievably he had a replacement part in his truck and like "magic"  it was fixed quickly and efficiently, and the charge was very very reasonable.   I wish we knew them when we discovered that the wood on the bottom part of our casement kitchen window rotted and we ended up replacing the entire window.  They do glass replacement, rotted wood pane replacement and repair everything else imaginable that is related to windows and doors. They provide a great alternative to replacing an entire window or all of them since you would need them all to match. read more

We had 1 double-hang window (Harvey) that lost its seal (just in one sash). We received crazy quotes from Home Depot and such. Contractors we hired could not help us because the upper sash was stuck and they didn't know what to do. Yuri figured out where it was stuck, removed the old window, placed the new sash, fixed the lower sash (it was unhooked from shoe stopper) and greased the whole window in a super-short amount of time for a VERY reasonable price. It was magical. And he did it next day (we just got lucky I suppose). I will always call him first for any of our window needs (we have a hundred of windows now in our new house). read more

I cannot say enough good things about these guys. Saw their van on the street, called, made an appointment, a very knowledgeable estimator came and did a very thorough walkthrough, explained everything, provided estimate right away. The house that we moved into had over a dozen of windows that wouldn't open or wouldn't shut. It was so bad that one of the windows almost fell out when opening. So, we were bracing for $20-30K new windows expenditure. These guys fixed all of the issues, including bunch of rotting wood for 10% of that! All windows work great now, they even painted them. One year after the "fixed", I realize none of the parts they replaced are in the right size and all my windows are sticking out of rail therefore all of them leak. The original windows installed blocked half of the noise coming from street, but now, after I stupidly try to "fix" them and believed there is a company actually manufacture custom parts for my window. All my windows now are leaking and I can hear people waking by and chatting as if they are next to me inside my apartment. It's terrible. None of the parts they used to replace the old parts on my windows have the same size. I don't think they actually "custom" manufacture those parts as they said. read more

One thing I hate about most vendors is they often solve one problem and create another, that has to be solved by someone else, at my expense. These guys are good, no one ...and I had four window people come and look at my garden window which needed the two side panes replaced. Everyone said no it couldn't be done because the window was not installed properly. I knew they were full of it just didn't want to take a little extra time and TLC to do the job. Saw theses guys truck and gave them a call. They came down, looked the job over , said yes they could do it and gave me a very fair price. The cut to order replacement panes were finished in 5 days and they scheduled a date one week out. On the repair day they were right on time again.
