Their customer service is refreshing. I received their business card in the mail when I moved into my condo and noticed my radiator dial was broken. I called other repair companies and they had fee after fee. I remembered I had DiPierros business card and gave them a call. Ariel the receptionist had me send a video of the dial and as soon as she showed her manager she said that it was such a simple fix they'd come and fix it for free. We used Gerry to do major renovations on a multi unit south end apartment building including adding 2 balconies in back. Gerry gave us a very competitive price and dealt with all the headaches with Historical. He gave us fair pricing to remediate the discovered issues during the renovation. His work was done in the promised timeframe with excellent quality. Since then we have used his company as the emergency contact for our tenants. Last November we had an emergency waste pipe issue in the basement. Gerry got his folks right on it and they were able to get things working again the next day, and then came back later to do a proper long term fix. We recently completed a semi-large scale renovation and had a very good experience with DiPierro. Our project had a long list of specific needs (including intricate tile work and extensive plumbing) and Gerry and his team were able to address them all with great attention to detail. The entire team is very professional, thorough and responsive. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. DiPierro's estimates come in considerably higher than other reputable contractors. The quality of work is shoddy and the workmen seem to have very limited respect for their clients or their clients' homes. On a "friend-of-DiPierro's" recommendation, we hired this company to do some work on one of our rental properties in Boston. Several unwanted events occurred while DiPierro was doing the work. In the end, we halted DiPierro's involvement after 2 days of work and hired another contractor to finish the work. (The job should have been done in 2 days - it was clear that DiPierro's men were on track to stretch the job for 4 or 5 days. After 2 days we had had enough of their shenanigans.) The contractor we brought in cleaned up, repaired the shoddy work and was out of there in a day! Here's what happened with DiPierro: The work took a couple of days. At the end of day one, our tenants returned home to find the work area a mess. Furniture had not been protected. Dust and bits of plaster had not been cleaned up. DiPierro's men used our tenant's bathroom and left the toilet a mess. Workmen from another site, unrelated to the work being done in our unit, were invited into the unit by DiPierro's workmen so they could clean their brushes in the kitchen sink. The sink was filthy, a fine coat of paint covered the stainless steel sink to greet our tenants when they returned home. My call to complain to DiPierro was met with derision and outright rudeness. He called me and my tenant liars. He said his men would never do such things. He accused my tenant of making it all up, of trying to get money from me/ from DiPierro ("because that is what tenants do!"). I was furious. I told him I did not want the same crew in the unit again. He called me the next morning to say that he asked his men about the allegations. They never owed up to the fact that they used the toilet (DiPierro "forbids" his men from using client's bathrooms - not sure what his men are supposed to do) and did not flush or clean the area. DiPierro informed me that his men admitted to inviting in the other workmen to use the kitchen. For that, DiPierro said he would dock his men a week's pay. DiPierro was not contrite, never apologized for the behavior of his men, nor for his behavior; and, even though he docked his workmen, he did not offer us any rebate. I fired him on the spot and told him to drop off our keys immediately. All in all - dealing with these shysters was a most unsatisfying and frustrating experience. read more

I recommend DiPierro after being involved with them in a brownstone renovation project in the South End. The style and quality of the work was excellent. Every construction project has its problems but we were always able to work them out satisfactorily for all concerned. I have to disagree strongly with any personal characterizations that question the truthfulness or ethics of DiPierro Construction. They have always stood behind the work they did for me, and, in one instance responded to an equipment malfunction in the middle of the night. Recently, I requested their services for a small home maintenance project and they were able to send someone to make the repair the same day. read more

We wholeheartedly recommend Gerry DiPierro's firm. They just replaced our roof deck using a Brazilian oak material and did so perfectly. Everything was explained, timing was managed well and the work result is as expected. This was his second project for us. The first was a new interior stairway to the deck. Gorgeous glass and woodwork. This effort is captured in three pictures on his web site's portfolio section. Gerry's team are experts and care about details. Just a comment about some of the reviews on Yelp. Our first project with Gerry occurred during the time these were written. Unfortunately, I cannot say that I had a positive experience with DiPierro Construction. I had engaged Dipierro for a 6 figure residential project encompassing a kitchen and bath. I had been given as estimated time of three months, it eventually took seven, I have spent a large amount of money fixing numerous issues that DiPierro refused to address and fix mistakes he made. The costly corrections came on top of a bill from DiPierro that was 20% above his original estimate. He work was not up to the standard that had been presented to me, nor was the level of service commensurate with his prices. I was thoroughly disappointed and deeply regret hiring DiPierro, perhaps corporate clients are treated differently from residential, but I would encourage anyone considering DiPierro to explore other options. read more

My husband and I recently had work done on our home in the South End and Luigi and team did fantastic work (floors, paintings, remodel/removal of built-ins and changing of doors/handles, hardwork). Luigi was incredibly responsive via text, sent updates regularly, and his/his team's workmanship was excellent. He was attentive to our needs and even made suggestions to improve in a cost-conscious fashion. We also wanted the work done quickly and in a short amount of time, which Luigi and team were also able to accommodate. I could just copy and paste the comments from James and Jodi. They are exactly right. I would seriously consider these reviews before hiring DiPierro. - DiPierro will be significantly over the original estimate. In our case, 15%. - He will take longer than promised. In our case, it was nearly double the time. - His office doesn't know what is going on with the project. Every invoice we received along the way was incorrect. They constantly tried to charge for work not yet completed so we always had to go back and forth correcting things. (Part of this is probably caused by the high job turnover at DiPierro. During the 10 week project, 2 project managers, 2 accountants, and a carpenter left. I think that says something.) - If you have any questions, you will need to contact them many times before getting an answer - He will never admit a mistake and try to correct it. Everything was always someone else's fault, was "unforeseen", or you don't know what you're talking about. He has a story for everything. - Poor attention to details. Dealing with DiPierro has been one of the most frustrating customer experiences that we have ever had. There is no doubt that all projects have issues and unforeseen things. And overages are expected. The big thing is how these problems are handled. DiPierro will just say it's your problem and will never admit that they did something wrong. Every cost will be passed on to you. Gerry has the philosophy that all that matters is the final product. So if he gets it done, then the customer should be happy. If it takes more money or time, then that doesn't matter. If you agree with that, then you will be ok using them. Just add at least 10% to estimate, double the time, and be prepared to have to ask many times if you have any questions. read more

Gerry DiPierro over promises and under delivers - he will give you a low ball estimate to get your business and then make all of his "gravy" on change in work orders and upcharges. His office is unresponsive and his crew often does not know what they are supposed to be doing because of Gerry and Nick's lack of communication. It's too bad - we really believe in supporting local business, but what was supposed to be a straight forward 5 month renovation has turned into more than a year of non-stop headaches and problems. Delayed renovation to learn their estimate for comparison purposes but then NEVER heard from them again. Hiring Dipierro was one of the worst decisions I've made in the last 2 years. I regret hiring them on a daily basis and continue to be angered at how poor the quality of work is, because it is so readily apparent. They came in over budget, way behind schedule, and the work is terrible. Our complaints were never really acknowledged during the project, and in hindsight we should have fired them at the very beginning when things went off the rails. DiPierro husband & wife Gerry & MaryBeth are the shadiest, and most untruthful greedy, illegal, falsely promising couple of non professional so called construction team I have ever had the unfortunate experience of hiring. Starting with far fetched promises and time frames to quotes that were not upheld a project that was quoted at 25k per Nick ended up costing an additional 7500 due to their mistakes etc and us having to outsource proper contractors to finish the job & correct mistakes made by DiPierros unqualified laborers. I wouldn't recommend this company to my worse enemy the entire relationship with them has been a complete nightmare from the moment I signed the 1 St check. We have been homeowners for over 25 years, and have done numerous renovations and repairs to our homes. This is the first time I have found it necessary to write a negative review for any company we have worked with. We contracted with DiPierro to replace an outdated shower stall. We made what we thought was a fairly simple request for the renovation. We received an estimate for the work that seemed fair. After that, we faced numerous delays and cost overruns that should have been anticipated by any experienced company before the estimate was written up. In addition, we asked up front and agreed to contract multiple specific (and straightforward) features including a shower seat, an overhead rain shower from the ceiling, and shelves in the shower itself. We received none of these, and never got a good answer as to why these features could not be accommodated. Despite not coming through with many requests made at the time of the estimate, the costs of our small project increased by almost 40% over the initial estimate. Given that we had clearly specified what we needed (including many of the things we never got), the company should have been able to generate an estimate that was pretty close to the target cost without huge overruns. The work itself was adequate but not exceptional: we requested a specific tile but many of the pieces did not match exactly in color. Despite that, the company purchased too much material and we had many leftover (unused)cartons of tile and trim. We paid for the excess (including the company's markup) but the company should have been able to measure for the need without so much waste, and could have avoided unnecessary cost to us. Perhaps most difficult was the fact that the company did not communicate clearly to us, and we spent a lot of time chasing them down to ask what was happening. They generated a lot of paperwork but did not have the ability (or interest) to sit down with us to explain why a request could not be accommodated, why the large cost overruns occurred, and in general were not able to address our growing concerns about the project in a timely manner. Suffice it to say we will look elsewhere for any future work in our home. read more

Unfortunately the rest of the experience is non-existent. After promising to provide an estimate for work in about a week and telling me that they can start on the project right away, the estimate never came.
