I did NOT actually use them for anything -- but I did get a price from them on just a piece of glass. No installation or anything, just a piece of glass. They were much more expensive than most other companies. I was able to get the glass delivered for $850, and they wanted to charge $1300+ Just seems a really expensive option for just buying a piece of glass. read more

I needed a kitchen window repaired that was shattered during a break-in. I actually called 3 different glass companies. The first one I tried told me they would have to send the window out to be replaced (which I just assumed was the norm for an insulated window based on what he told me). I scheduled an appointment because I really needed the replacement and the guy never showed up or called. I then tried Shawmut. Gary got back to me promptly, quoted me $100 less than the previous company. He showed up at the day/time agreed on, fixed the window on site in 15 minutes. Very friendly guy too! Quick and easy.. I used this company to replace a broken window, it was not an emergency but they came same day which was great. Long story short a gentleman can with a woman to and decided they wanted to take the window and come back later it was already 3:30pm and told them I would only be home until 6pm. The gentleman became snippy about everyone wants things timed blah blah, meanwhile I didn't expect same day service nor did ask for it. Fast forward next day he comes to install and uses one of my kitchen chairs to stand on, this was very non professional seeing how he knew what the job installed the day before. (this is the same business as Statewide Glass) He just installed a custom glass shower door and panel in my new bathroom in the South End... it turned out fabulously. Not only did he beat all of the other quotes received from top-rated glass companies, I am so glad I used him... my shower was apparently unaligned / unlevel, and needed extra attention and care. Before finalizing the measurements to the supplier, Gary came back over on a Sunday morning to ensure the dimensions were perfect. The final product was beautiful. I needed a living room window replaced so I called the phone number listed on Yelp for Shawmut Glass- a guy called back stating he was from Statewide Glass, and I said "oh, I thought I called Shawmut". He responded that it was the same company...Well, long story short- it's not the same company at all. He took my window and half the payment, and said it would be ready the following week. I didn't hear back, so I called this number again & it was out of business. I called the number listed on Shawmut Glass's website, and they seemed terrific, very helpful & responsive. Said he would help however he could, but that Statewide was not the same company, and somehow that guy took their phone number. I finally got in touch with the guy from Statewide glass & he was fairly unprofessional, and it took almost a month to get my window back- I had to keep calling and asking when he would be here, because twice he was a "no call, no show." I'm not normally a review writer, but this time, I had to say something. I called Aaron At Shawmut/Alina Glass to give me a pretty straightforward estimate to replace 4 broken vapor seals in a large window in the South End, an area that he told me over the phone that he does a lot of work. He promised he would get me the estimate the following Monday. Monday turned into Thursday, and when I called, he said that he'd had a "Glass Emergency", and would have it to me the next morning. Late the next afternoon, my assistant called him again, and this time he "had a guy out sick" but we were told again that we'd have the estimate by the next morning. That was 2 weeks ago, plus add the original week that he had me wait to get the first estimate (which never arrived). Even if he called me tomorrow, and said that he'd do the job for half-price, I wouldn't work with him. He is not a man of his word. He should have just told me, "I don't want the job, please call someone else". I would have appreciated the gesture, and I would have called someone else (it's called good manners). I will NEVER call him again, and I work for a very large firm, so I will email everyone and tell them that he is not a reputable business man, who lies. Summary: DON'T WASTE YOUR VALUABLE TIME, he will promise you an estimate, but he won't follow through. read more
