I have been to many Zaxby's in multiple states, it is one of my favorite fast food options. There isn't a Zaxby's very near me so I had looked up to see if there was one in Sanford and came out of the way to dine here. Sadly, this was the worst one I've been to. On the plus side, It has patio seating, which is unusual. They were not busy and there was no one in the dining area. The server took our order and I tried to have my app scanned. She told me that the scanner quit working yesterday and I would have to enter my receipt online. It's not typically a big deal, but I had received a five dollars off $15 reward today that I was now unable to use. Very disappointing. Went to the freestyle machine to get our drinks and 75% of the options were not available. This includes anything diet. Also, they were out of sweet tea. Fortunately, I thought about the drive thru drink machine and asked them if they would give me a drink there. They were able to do so, and apologized again, saying they were getting the delivery tomorrow. This is not near my house so it doesn't me any good today. My salad was good, but the chicken was diced instead of strips like usual. They also gave us only one fork, when my husband had coleslaw and I had a salad. So I had to go back and ask for another one. Not a big deal, but with all the other issues, it just seemed to add up to be a cruddy experience. It's been head since I had Zaxby's. I ordered their regular signature sandwich combo. I'll give it to them for having a good sized chicken patty. I feel like it should have been crispier and hotter in temperature though. The sauce on it was good but the zax sauce I got on the side definitely elevated it. The fries were okay but I also feel they should have been crispier. I'm not sure if that's how they normally are or if it was just an off today. I came in right after work, drained, and ready for something to eat. It was a breath of fresh air when I got to order from Zaxby's. Barely any wait time, fast line, and the staff was amazing. Michael was the team member who rang me up, answered all my questions quickly and was over all a huge help. For a second time visit to Zaxby's and a first to this location, it was nothing but quick and easy to eat here. I was at Zaxby's not even 20 minutes ago and had a horrible experience. 1. They were out of fries (??) and salads. Speaking for myself, maybe others, the fries are most of the reason you go there. You can get chicken tenders anywhere. 2. That being said, we were hungry and already there, so we tried to work with what they had. We ordered TWO 5 fingerz MEALS, and asked if the fries could be substituted. We were told that they could be substituted for extra coleslaw, another piece of toast, or an extra finger. We asked if they had the white cheddar bites and...they were out as well. We opted for the extra tender. 3. We get to the window and pay, only to find out that we were rung up by the cashier, Annalyci, for 5 tenders TOTAL, AND the extra tender was added at an additional fee that was not discussed. No meal, no drinks, NOTHING. TO BE CLEAR: I am not upset with the store for being out of items, I know there is a supply shortage, and that's not the store or the individual's fault. HOWEVER, I am upset about the horrible customer service. The only reasons why the store received one star is because at least one is required and the tenders were hot. read more

I'm hoping my experience was only because I came close to closing time, but even then it was kinda ridiculous. I came here at about 9:10pm, and ordered a chicken finger plate and the Nibblerz meal. Now, I've been to other Zaxby's locations in the past and never had an issue, but this location was totally different. While they didn't inherently get my order wrong, and the drive-thru experience was quick and the workers were kind, the food itself is the problem. The fries seemed borderline burnt and didn't have ANY seasoning on them, and so was the chicken itself. The buns for the sandwiches? They weren't as cooked as neatly or as long as any other location I've been to. The food itself was warm and stayed warm until I got home, though. Because the food was warm and the workers were friendly, I can give them 2 stars. Again, I really hope my experience was only because it was getting close to closing time, but even then, the food was too burnt and not seasoned. Yesss They finally opened a Zaxbys in Sanford! I love Zaxbys and this one is the nicest one I've ever been to. It is kind of in the cut so lookout for it. The wait was short and you can tell they are new but the service was great! Ordered the chicken club and it was delicious and hubby ordered the chicken tenders and loved them. The chicken was fresh real chicken and seasoned perfectly. Love their honey mustard and Zaxbys sauce (they charge for more than one sauce BTW) The restaurant was very clean, hope it stays that way. Also, went through the drive thru at another time and got the same great service. Will be coming here a lot. Hope the service and food stays good. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend for lunch or dinner! read more

It's Black Friday. I've been out all morning shopping for other people and now I'm hungry. Fortunately, I'm in the Sanford area and they just opened a new Zaxby's here and it is wonderful. We all know who's cornered the market when it comes to chicken tenders and sandwiches out here, but give Zaxby's hella credit because their chicken is DELICIOUS. And their deals are pretty sweet...today I went with the Big Zax Snack meal - which comes with a 22 ounce drink (with refills) - for just under $6.50. Three pieces of chicken tender, crinkle cut fries - which should be the only fries by law - a piece of Texas toast and a good-sized Zax sauce which you can trade out for a different sauce, if you prefer. I also joined the Zax Mail Club today so I should be getting a postcard for a free sandwich in a few days. The catering menu looked pretty damn good and I'm pretty sure you'd move up to superhero status if you provided Zaxby's at your next party. (Maybe not Tony Stark but definitely Hulk). I like fried chicken as much as the next person but this place failed to impress me on both occasions. Everything on the menu tasted the same. I ordered the Kickin Chicken Sandwich which is basically a few small chicken tenders slapped between two pieces of Texas toast with some sauce. Absolutely nothing to rave about, the fries were also so-so. We had also ordered chicken wings which were decent but not amazing. It felt like every item on the menu was just another version of itself. I had heard good things about this place but I honestly didn't see it. I sat at the order area of the drive thru for roughly 10-15 minutes before leaving since no one even answered to at least say "we're closing to cleanup" instead I saw all the employees walking around the store. They've recently changed the kind of wings that they use and it's gross now. They went from being a good textured and flavorful naked wing to some sort of breaded, squishy disaster. My daughter tried Zaxby's with a friend, and she absolutely raved about them, so honestly, I expected better. We tried them first as To-Go. I noticed almost immediately that they are extremely expensive for what they serve. We got 2 orders of tenders, 2 drinks, and a kids meal and spent over $30, which I am sorry, but $30 for chicken tenders and fries, is pretty expensive ... especially compared to other local Chicken Tender businesses. When we got the food home, everything was very soggy, and we literally only live 6 minutes away from the restaurant, and made no additional stops on the way home. We tried them again last weekend, because they were the only local place we could find, that wasn't busy after church (and now we know why). On this day, the girl working behind the counter seemed to have the worst possible attitude. She seemed like she did not want to be at work, and she wanted everyone who came in to know it. The prices were still high, but this time, the food wasn't soggy at least. The food itself was decent on the second trip, so I am upping their score a little, but honestly, if you charge that much for chicken tenders, then the food had better be AWESOME and the staff had better be friendly every single time. When I went with my parents to order the cashier girl was extremely rude & didn't even know the menu & the teacher deal they had for us teachers for the week. This Zaxby's is better than the one I visited 7 years ago in Athens, GA the food is very delicious. If you're ordering here for the first time I would highly recommend the Zaxby's Club it has chicken, Zaxby's sauce, lettuce, tomato, and the seasoned zig zag fries. My first time trying zaxbys EVER was a few days ago and it was delish! The chicken was great, I got a 5 pc tender meal, the Texas toast was amazing and fries had such a nice seasoning to them. The food tasted fresh and was fast. Forget anymore Wendy's, Burger King, McDonalds, or KFC chicken, I'm going to Zaxbys! The only other chicken place that gives them a bit of a run is Popeyes. But great job for my first visit and the staff was so nice!! I will be back! Side note: I didn't give 5 stars because I ordered a brownie too and it was rock solid. This was my first experience at a Zaxby's. I ordered at the drive through around 2:30 pm, from a pleasant young lady. Upon my arrival at the window, I was warmly greeted, and was presented with the total. I ordered the four piece chicken tenders platter, which contained chicken, coleslaw, seasoned fries, and a slice of Texas toast. Even though the time I arrived was not busy, the food was fresh and came out quickly. The chicken was perfect! It was juicy and had a great flavor. The coleslaw was crunchy and tasted amazing. The Texas toast was good, and the fries were seasoned to perfection. The only real downside of the whole meal was the drink had more ice than I would have preferred. That is literally the only real con for my whole experience, and to me, that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. You need to be a little patient at this early stage. We waited a little longer than you normally would, but it's expected if you know anything about a new restaurant in the area. Ok I finally made it to this "chicken" place. If you find the entrance to the restaurant, the first thing one experiences is a confusing parking lot that is probably set up for just the employees. Inside is clean. The menu is easy to read. The employees are busy but not very friendly. I doubt that anyone there likes their job. I ordered the four piece chicken fingers plate. The food was very hot when served. The chicken was very grissly. I didn't like the booths that we're surrounded by walls I couldn't see over. I felt very clostrophobic. The very bland chicken, being ignored by the staff, and eating in what felt like a cave, took all the fun out of lunch. My advice is choose another place to spend your lunch money. Clean is great, but offering higher quality food choices would bring more business. read more

I finally caved and went into one of these. Phenomenal rustic décor--even in the bathrooms. But--the food is basically fast food as I would expect. There are more unique options on the menu so if you are in to fast food, go. It is everything you would expect from a chain. I got some chicken parmesan sandwich which is two pieces of garlic toast white bread with the chicken parmesan inside. Messy. Not the kind at an Italian restaurant--the budget kind.
