The employees were nice but not overly friendly, it was clear they were busy with lots of online orders. The restaurant was clean and organized. I had an employee pick up dinner for me. I texted him my order and even had things that I did not want in CAPITAL LETTERS. He even showed the girl at the cash register to please make sure it was correct. I wanted a cheese sandwich with mayo, lettuce, tomatoe and a few jalapeños. This is what I received! It had a pile of sautees, mushrooms ( I'm allergic) a ton of sauté onions, mushrooms and peppers. It was disgusting. There was nothing about my sandwich that was correct! What is so hard to make a hot cheese sandwich! This is not the first time this has happened. I will not be going back. It was a hot mess! I am telling everyone I know about this. Stop in the other night and was very disappointed. I come to this location semi regularly cause it's easier to get to than the other one closer to my house. I placed my order and noticed the guy making my sandwich, couldn't make out his name I believe it was Sohob, but his eyes were very red and he kept rubbing his nose on his forearm and I'm not sure cause he looked to be in his 40's but appeared to have red blotches on his neck like hickeys. I always have good luck at the Firehouse subs in Lake Mary. The food is made fresh to order and they use quality meats and cheeses. This go around I ordered the Engineer with extra toppings. The sandwich was delicious; loaded with meat, mushrooms, cheese, additional vegetables and sauces without being soggy. The staff here is always friendly and helpful. I love their care process: how they steam all their meats, how they toast their buns, how they stack and add their scrumptious toppings. It was nice enjoying a sub totally different out of my regular norm! So I did bad today and I cheated by eating meat! I just wish they offered other options for vegetarians or pescatarians, otherwise I will have to avoid this place, but for now, I'm sinking my mouth into this chicken breast with mushrooms, and yes sir, it is delicious! It is mainly due to the exceptional service I have had there. I hate that my memory is failing me but there was an employee there recently who went above and beyond for me and although I can't remember his name he had a fun name tag which I believe referenced Iron Man? I had brought in my son for lunch and since my hands were full they brought my food to me and ensured I had everything I needed. He even got me water. Then, when I mentioned I did not like the soup I chose he offered to switch my side. I was just really blown away by all his kindness and I feel he needs a shout out. The dining room in this facility is pretty large. Lots of places to sit and enjoy. We sat down and our orders came out pretty quick. The sandwiches were hot and toasted. My 4-star review still stands. I've been here twice since I wrote my original review and the food has been great on both occasions. I still order the chicken salad every time - it's very good here. The large-sized sandwich is a lot of food, so be warned - unless you're extraordinarily hungry, you may not be able to finish it. During my first recent visit here, I ordered the large sandwich and had to take half of it home. During the second recent visit, I opted for the medium and finished all of it in one sitting. I'm not sure if Firehouse has increased its prices; the large chicken salad sandwich cost around, if not more than, $10 when I ordered it not long ago. The prices here definitely are higher than at Subway and other sub shops, as far as I can tell. The quality of the food is good, but I'm not sure that a large sub is something I'm continuously going to pay $10 for. The shop seems to have been refurbished/redesigned since the time I used to come by a lot (2007-08). It looks nice and appears to be clean. Very spacious. A bonus of this Firehouse location is its Coca-Cola "Freestyle" machine (see the picture that's been added here on Yelp). During recent visits, I've tried the grape and strawberry Sprite and the orange Coke. The Sprites were good and the Coke was decent, though maybe the orange flavor was running low. It tasted a little orange-y, but not as much as I thought. There are lots of combinations to try ... it almost is worth coming here just to have a few sodas. Not sure when I'll be back again. I recommend this for now, though. If you enjoy chicken salad, give it a try here. It's pretty good. I got scared by the caloric dooms-saying of the hook n ladder, and had the turkey thing instead, which they call the engineer (stupid names to be honest, other than to people who own dalmatians and play scrabble all day). This is the BEST Firehouse Subs location in the area. I have one less than 5 minutes from my house (that is HORRIBLE), but I will drive 25 minutes to go to the Lake Mary location. I've only been exposed to Firehouse Subs for about 2 years, and I've only gone about a dozen times, just because they are significantly more expensive than other local sandwich shops that have about the same quality of food. The staff can be hit or miss, sometimes that are friendly as can be, other times their attitudes make you well aware that they don't want to be there. I personally prefer their Turkey Bacon Ranch sub, or their meatball sub. Both have good taste. Decent drink selection, and hot sauce selection (I really like their house brand of hot sauce). Some of their sandwiches are so hearty, they really require a fork and knife to eat. So yeah, I will eat here, but only in moderation due to the price and the likelihood of getting an employee with a crappy attitude. read more

I'm generally a fan of Firehouse and this one is much like the rest. "Welcome to Firehouse" is shouted to you as you walk in. My order was taken and my food prepared quickly. My son's absolute favorite grilled cheese is here, don't ask me why! I was a fan of the Engineer, Hook and Ladder, Turkey Cranberry or Pork and Slaw (its delicious when available but soooooooooo bad for you!). I'm trying to reduce my bread intake as part of my new clean eating lifestyle so this time tried their salad. I must say I was not impressed. It's nice they have that option but it didn't seem very fresh, wasn't big enough (for the price), didn't have enough meat and left me hungry a few hours later. Went in with my son to enjoy a nice lunch, as we have enjoyed the sandwiches at JJ for years. I told the staff that last week we got takeout-2 sandwiches and 1 pickle. Our other pickle was left out so I asked if we could please have the other pickle today with our orders. The manager, Tom was quite rude and told me there was NO WAY he would give us the pickle without proof! I am an honest mom, accompanied by my 14 year old son and in complete shock that he was such a jerk! He was more than happy to write his name down and told me to go ahead and complain! Wow! Guess he doesn't want any customers to be satisfied or like visiting the Lake Mary location!!!
