My son commented correctly, "I thought it was giong to be as tall as where the straw sticks out to". I did too. But they are tiny. We ordered Extra everyting extra whipped cream, extra cherries, extra fillings and got none of those. It was 9pm not busy. My ten year old could have done a better job. Steak n Shake is fully locked in tohavi g as little interaction with humans as possible. You order at a screen and pick up your food from the counter. No one is walking around to check on you, they don't event put salt on the table anymore. Times are changin' The food is okay but not as good as when. I was growing up. Update: Still no response from the owner. He has stolen money from me. Original review: I would not go to this restaurant. They only take orders via Self servekiosk. I had four people in my party. Every person in my party ordered a type of chili. I paid for the total in the amount of $46.99. I was confronted by employees who stated that they ran out of chili because they were so busy. They asked if I could order anything else. Knowing that the Bill, would it be much less without the chili, I decided to just put in another order and be refunded my money. The Manager On duty stated that he avoided the items off the check and that I would be refunded my money within five business days. He also told me to contact the manager in the morning to make sure that He refunded in my bank appropriately Nothing showed pending at my bank account. Only posted. I called the next day and the phone rang and rang and rang. Someone picked up and said hello and then hung up. I decided to go into the restaurant the next day. I talked to the manager on duty who is different but he gave me a phone number of Jerry. He said that if I had any questions to send him a receipt And he should text back. Jerry responded to my initial text stating that the transaction is pending. Which is false. I repeated to him that this Transaction was posted at my bank account. Jerry has not responded to any of my texts since. On top of that, all the corporate lines for steak 'n Shake Are no longer. Stay away from this place if you want to keep your money I also find that it's ridiculous that the money that was put as a tip for food that I did not receive was given to the restaurant employees. The first time I had Steak 'n Shake when a location briefly opened in California, I was hooked. The food wasn't spectacular, but it was the shakes that really drew me in. My favorite is the Nutella. They also had a dark chocolate one which was delicious but sadly is apparently not on the menu anymore. When this location closed, it wasn't until I moved to Florida when I was able to have Steak 'n Shake again. Sadly, this particular location has given me probably the worse restaurant experience I've ever had. I'm not really one to eat inside of restaurants so I usually order delivery through Doordash. The food is prepared the same way by the same staff so it doesn't really matter. I ordered a Nutella shake, a regular cheeseburger with added pickles and onions, five piece chicken strips, and a large onion ring side. I also added a side of sauce for the chicken strips. The delivery person was at the restaurant and to my house within ten minutes. When I was delivered, the fries were ice cold. The onion rings were soggy, and it only contained around four tiny rings for a size "large." The burger was missing the onions and pickles and was completely smashed (attached pic doesn't do much justice). The sauce for the chicken strips was not there. Oh, and did I mention the shake was completely absent? This is the fault of the delivery driver as well, but the restaurant should have ensured the shake was included with the pick up of the food. The chicken strips were the size of my pinkie finger and were tough to chew. The burger went straight into the trash followed by the onion rings and fries. Completely inedible. Needless to say I got a full refund due to this unacceptable food. I've never been more disappointed in my one of favorite restaurants. A few weeks later I wanted to give them one more chance. I didn't take the risk of ordering anything but a shake. Ordered my Nutella shake. It arrived completely watered down, whipped cream sloppily smeared on top and no Nutella drizzled on top which is what is advertised and what I got back in California. This location was by far the worst food experience i have ever had and i am from California. The person taking the order was straight up disrespectful and too be honest a disgusting human being. This was at 10:45pm on 12/04/21. This lady taking the order was a wearing navy blue jacket with three colored strips across the chest. She had a horrible attitude and was a complete waste of a hourly wage. You could hear in her voice how much disdain he felt by taking any order. This was my first experience at Steak 'n Shake and too be honest there's no reason to ever go back. She destroyed the whole experience and event with asking questions about what's in burgers to asking for ketchup / mayonnaise or extra napkins she said no we don't have anything and and left us with nothing. The whole crew was horrible, seeing them slack and laugh in the back while receiving a poor excuse for a undercooked burger. This place deserves a 0 star rating. When we moved to Lake Mary, we were excited about having access to a Steak 'n Shake. Though we didn't have them in Central PA where I'm originally from, we had bumped into them from time-to-time on our travels and generally loved the idea of a place primarily committed to old-school burgers and fries, served diner-style and quickly at that. Unfortunately, this Lake Mary location seems to be perpetually understaffed, is not particularly well-kept from a cleanliness perspective and more often than not, we end up walking out as we can rarely get seated in a timely manner when we walk in. I don't fault the staff as they look to be overstressed (usually one or two servers handling the "front of the house", which includes seating and running the register, in addition to the normal serving jobs). When I can actually get seated, my kids and I generally enjoy the food. That said, it's obvious that cleanliness is not a priority. The tables and booths are not particularly well wiped down and you can pretty much guarantee you'll notice traces of other people's food if you dare pickup a ketchup bottle or seasoned salt. Additionally, we have left on at least one occasion after walking in the door and being confronted with a horrible odor (like vomit). I really wish this location could get its act together. It'd be an awesome option as an alternative to typical fast food, but the consistency is just not there. read more

We pull up to drive thru and told to "Hold on" after about 7 minutes I finally say hello? and they ask for my order while having conversations within their co-workers. i had to repeat large fry and 2 shakes three times. I pull up ti the window and they again ask to repeat my order while still laughing and conversating with eachother. After a few minutes we get our fries. 5 minutes later we get 1 shake. Another 5 minutes we get our shake. no straws. Very rude and taking their time as I see them all just chit chatting. Honestly it was suspicious when I saw them making shakes then bend over, start laughing and look back at us. I got home and threw them away. Once again, steak n' shake became a stopover after some drinking in the area. Open 24/7, this place barely had anyone inside late Thursday night, so got a booth immediately. Ordered the Bacon N' Cheese Double Steakburger ($5) and a Reese's Chocolate PB Shake ($4). Shake comes out first - a thick shake served in a frosted glass with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Great flavor, as the taste loops from chocolate to peanut butter intermittently. Food comes out soon after - a hefty burger with two patties, cheese, and bacon layered on top of one another served with thin-cut fries. Burger is only okay, bun didn't seem fresh and the patties were greasy.Bacon is solid and I liked the pickles at the bottom. I prefer thick cut fries over the thin ones, so they were just okay. Service here was quick (don't forget to go up to pay). For late night food, not a bad option at all. read more

Always have a good $4 meal deal here and you can upgrade for a dollar more if you want a side of chili instead of coleslaw. They make your burger any way you want. Take off what you don't want, on what you do like. We got the single bacon cheeseburger and I split with my two-year-old daughter. You also get a chocolate chip cookie included in that price! Yummy! The interior could use some better scrubbing & the waitress outfits could be neater & cleaner. Waitress had to ask me my order multiple times because she wasn't writing any of it down. That's because I'd ordered a burger and small shake and the shake never made the order. At home when I opened the bag I realized the fries had been tossed in on top of the burger and a folded fry bag tossed on top of them. I asked for mayo, lettuce and onion on the burger. Putting aside the health factor, my impression of SnS had been pretty good. The burger quality really is one cut above the more ubiquitous fast food joints. This time, I was just grabbing a fast bite before heading off to jail (that's another story - any Yelp reviews on the Polk Correctional Institute in Sanford?). For once, I used the drive-through thinking it'd be pretty fast because it was an off-peak time. Boy was I wrong. They seemed really disorganized. I'm not talking about a 10-minute wait, but at a drive-through even 5-6 minutes (from order to food) could seem like an aeon. I guess they felt it was bad too, because I got a free fries. But the burger (bacon double cheese) looked and felt small. They might have misheard me or something, as they put mayo in. The meat was still gristle-free, thank goodness, but I might be alone in wanting my burger seasoned. I know - nobody does it, and I shouldn't punish SnS. Would you eat a pork chop unseasoned? The first year after we arrived in Florida, this place was great. Great food, great prices, and great service. The last 4 times we visited. It has been the exact opposite. We've repeatedly been left standing at the front for 10-15 minutes just waiting for someone to come seat us. We've had repeated issues with servers having awful attitudes. Every visit it takes at least 10 minutes for a server to even take our drink order (if not longer). It takes forever to then get those drink or for our server to come back and take our food order, or to bring us our food. We never get checked on anymore, so of course refunds are out of the question. Something in our orders has been wrong with each visit. They bring the check without asking if you want milkshakes for dessert, and then if you do order milkshakes, they take forever to get. Tonight we walked in to find only 6 tables full of people with plenty of staff, however, it took almost 15 minutes for the girl to even take our drink orders. After waiting for her to bring those drinks for 10 minutes, and seeing her at other tables waiting on other people while we hadn't even got our drinks yet, we just left. Literally were sitting in the restaurant ready to pay money for their service, and gave up and went else where due to awful customer service. I really sincerely hope that somebody from corporate, or some kind of a general manager starts quality checking this location.
