I had the most pleasant experience at this Spa. I was gifted a couples massage, I work close so I decided to arrive early to utilize the other facilities for a couple of hours. From valet, to security for directions and then the ZaSpa staff for explaining everything so eloquently, I was more than pleased! The pool and cabanas inside were a nice surprise, so serene. I ordered a beverage that did not take long to receive at all. The Spa facilities were nice and well maintained. The infaRed sauna was different, I liked it though. I showered prior to my massage as instructed and then dawning the soft rob after was glorious. The tea station was a nice touch immediately prior to and after the massage. I believe my masseuse was Ben, he was phenomenal!! I even dozed off a couple times and he gently woke me up lol. This was my partners first time and per him his masseuse did an awesome job explaining things and performing as well. The after massage lounge beds were a nice touch. I have heard amazing things about hotel zaza and was intrigued to try out their spa. I am a local houstonian and just wanted a little luxury getaway for the day. I called the day before and booked an 80 minute have no mercy massage. When I arrived and checked in they confirmed my 80 minute massage and took me to the men's lounge to change and get ready. The lounge had super comfortable robes and nice slippers. There was a sauna which I took part in and was great. They had fruit infused water and tea available and the whole atmosphere was great. When I got to the massage they said they had me down for a 50 minute massage. I very politely said oh it was supposed to be 80 minutes and that the girl at the front even confirmed it. The masseuse said she was unable to do 80 and said she would go to the front to see what they could accomdate. What felt like 2.5 seconds, she returned, (which didn't seem enough time to get to the front and figure stuff out but what do I know) and said that if I wanted to do the 80 minute I would have to wait till 6. It was 3. I kindly said no it's ok I'll just do the 50. Small small bump in the road but when you come expecting an 80 minute massage a 50 minute one sounds unimpressive. The massage was ok, good pressure, but it felt sloppy, rushed. Whatever. I left the recommended gratuity despite everything, because I'm not one to make a scene. Honestly truly I really just wanted a massage where I could hang out at a pool afterwards. Which you have access to when you book a massage. The pool is great. The ahi tuna tacos were great. But, I ordered a Paloma and they were out of grapefruit juice and seemed unsure on how to make it. Again, a small small bump in the road, but when you are coming to a place that has a reputation for luxury and great service, that's what you expect. Anyways, I don't know that I'll be returning again, and I'm very sad that a place I was really enthusiastic to try was a bit of a let down. read more

I really wanted to love this place! It is only a couple of minutes away from my house so it is very convenient for me to get there. When I arrived I was disappointed with the design of this place. I have stayed at Hotel Zaza before so I was expecting their design to be up to the whole hotel standards but unfortunately not. It is not just that the furniture is old and scratched all over with some stains on the wood, but just imagine that the treatment room has a big flat screen TV that is turned on. So just while you are getting your pedicure and manicure done you are listening to ABC news! And imagine that even clashing with the music they have in the background. I mean talk about being relaxed! The pedicure and manicure treatment that I got was less than just okay. It is literally double what I pay at other spas but the quality was way less. I am definitely not going back! I feel very generous giving them a two star rating. read more

Do not come here. Got couples massages as a birthday gift for my bf and while the pool was nice, both of our massages sucked. He came with with a sore right shoulder and left with a sore left shoulder. My masseuse asked me if the pressure was good, I told him i needed more pressure yet the whole massage was done as if I was a small child he was scared to break. Beautiful spa, however parking is awful unless you're willing to pay the $12 valet. The services are very professional and relaxing, although more than a little overpriced. They also automatically add gratuity which I find a little distasteful. read more

Not Satisfied... I set up an appointment for my friend and I for the 80 minute Hot Stone massage. We both get massages frequently so we kind of know what to expect. My Therapist was really nice but I did feel like I needed some more pressure which I did eventually ask for and she did apply more but for some reason the massage just was not a good one. it was also very noisy during our massage with the therapist stopping during the massage going back and forth reheating the hot stones... Very annoying.. They should have a better system. My friend told me her massage was one of the worst she has ever had and she couldn't wait for it to be over... I didn't go into detail with her why it was so bad. I just think when you pay $200 dollars for a massage you should leave totally satisfied and very relaxed and refreshed. Finally booked an appointment to use a gift certificate I've been carrying around for at least two years. Decided on the diamond silk peel facial. Veresa was my tech and I can honestly say her manner and the treatment were top notch. If my husband gets me another gift certificate in the future I will redeem it much more quickly. read more

My friend and I came in for pedicures and massages on a Sunday afternoon. We were in town for a couple days and decided to book a few long over due treatments. The nail service was outstanding. Lucy was nice and diligent. My friend had Ann who was great and had an eye for detail from what my friend said. For our massages, we were in absolute HEAVEN! I had Ben while my friend had Nikki. We have both had many massages over the past ten years and these were by far the best we've had. Our therapist were thorough and kept a consistent pressure and even incorporated some light stretching. After that we relaxed in the waiting area and then went to the sauna which was a nice touch after. Looking at the reviews, I will give a few tips to future customers. If you want more pressure...ASK FOR IT. If the pressure is too much....SPEAK UP. Otherwise, do not complain that you aren't getting what you want in the massage because you lack communication, even after your masseur is accommodating you. I would (and have) recommended this place to anyone I know. read more

Although I get regular massages, I am not a facial person, so I was a little nervous about going in for one. I went to ZaSpa for an emergency facial before my best friend's wedding because it was one of the only places that was still open after I get off work. I was treated to a rude and condescending therapist, an automatic 20% gratuity that was NOT advertised on the website (anyone want to pursue an FTC violation?) which I never would have awarded for such unfriendliness, and to top it all off, a refusal to respond to my email complaint. This was a terrible use of money and I would never recommend it to anyone. read more

Za Spa had a great atmosphere, although quite small. I did not think it was worth the money, I felt very rushed the whole time. My massage therapist did not even go over the paper I filled out with me and what areas I wanted her to focus on. Also the tables are very hard and uncomfortable. I want to like this place but it has been consistently terrible. We got married at the zaza and after staying in magnificent seven suite, I expected the same service and atmosphere from the spa; however, that was a big mistake. My wife got a mani/pedi/ massage from there and the services were dismal. She even got the silk peel facial and the aesthetician did nothing other than running the machine sucker over her face and applying a cream after.I figured that it might be a one time bad day thing and we both returned this month for facials and they were both performed by Varrica (their only aesthetician) and again both our experiences were absolutely pathetic. First of all we were both collected ten minutes late by her on separate days. She chats the entire duration she has you in there about products, but does nothing. Starts with running the clarisonic brush to clean your face and then slops on a damp towel to wipe that off...and before you know it she dabs on some moisturizer that she was blabbering about for the 40 min session. No facial massage no extraction nothing! And then she hovers around giving u dr lin's product info in the locker room. Honestly, the zaza should find a good aesthetician that can uphold their level of service. read more

had multiple services done here on 1/4/2019. This rating is for my facial and pedicure. The young lady that did these services was Jen. Firstly, let me say that this is my third time visiting the Zaspa in the Houston Art District. I had to complete a form to describe my skin type, needs, and concerns. It really is sad that I took the effort filling out this form and the esthetician didn't even look at it. If she had looked maybe I would have enjoyed the facial. She didn't ask about the fact that I use retinA on my face and how that would react with the products she would be using. So the initial product she used made my face feel like it was on fire....Horrible horrible experience! Luckily I was able to tolerate it for a short time but it just wasn't a relaxing pleasant experience. Which is how I wanted my whole spa day to feel. After she wiped the fire cream off my face... she did some other things and a mask. Lastly she worked on cleaning my pores...removing black heads and white heads which was one of my main concerns. They are mainly on my chin and around my mouth and lips...had she read my questionnaire, she would've known that. But she didn't read my questionnaire. She may have removed 3-5 blackheads/whiteheads on my forehead and nose and one on my cheek...and then she was done! Total waste of time and money. This was the Detox and Renew facial for $140. Please do not waste your money! I really felt like she didn't want to be there and she didn't enjoy her job. I was also lucky enough to have her do my Heavy Metal Pedicure...not lucky! It just wasn't very relaxing. She wasn't prepared items weren't laid out so she had to continuously open/close drawers. They weren't quite they were loudly closed and she kept dropping things. Everything was loud and clanky, not relaxing. i thought the chair might massage or vibrate slightly, but it didn't, oh well. Aside from her being loud and disorganized....the pedicure was ok but not worth $95 For these two things I could've gone somewhere else. I did pay for these services and added a 20% tip....but she didn't deserve a penny! Worst experience ever! I also had "The Morning After" package which was a scrub, seaweed wrap, and massage (added full body for $30 extra) this was $190+$30=$220. I really enjoyed this...Benjamin is the best! Two days later, and my skin still feels scrub soft. I love the Zaza Hotel and spa. I was very disappointed with the facial and pedicure. For a full day at the spa I should've felt relaxed and rejuvenated....and great about spending $546 and I DID NOT! I will try a new place in 6 months...the Houstonia has been recommended, but I'm not sure yet. read more

Definitely wouldn't recommend this place for a facial. My husband got a massage done and was quite happy with it, so I'm assuming the terrible service was just with the facial. I don't remember the name of my esthetician. I don't recall her even properly introducing herself. I filled out a form with my skin concerns and focus areas and I don't think she even looked at it. The facial itself was alright, nothing to rave about, but okay. It was the entire experience which disappointed me, especially when I'm paying close to $160. My esthetician barely spoke 5 words throughout the whole session. At the end of it, she didn't even ask me how the facial was. She entirely skipped my neck, even though I'd mentioned that as a focus area. I had booked the signature holistic facial which is described as a customized facial that ends with a prescription of skin care. And all I got was a bunch of creams and packs being applied (I don't even know what treatment was being done), a bit of massage (which was good) and then we were DONE! We decided to celebrate 5 years of marriage with a couples massage. It was the best decision ever! From the moment we walked in the door, we were treated like royalty. Everything was explained to us and we were taken back to get in our robes and sandals. The locker rooms were very clean and beautifully decorated. My husband and I met back on one of the cozy sofas and we were treated to some champagne while we waited. In no time at all Nicoll and Caroline introduced themselves and led us back to the tranquil paradise where we received the best massages we've ever had! They made us feel comfortable the entire time. My husband said Nicoll was magical! He said he felt so great and refreshed after his massage. Caroline was great too, she made me so relaxed I think I kind of fell asleep a bit lol! After our massages, they gave us some water (which was delicious btw lol) and led us to the beds they have in the spa for relaxing. That was a great idea! Before changing back into our clothes and getting back to reality we tried the dry sauna which was so nice and was the perfect end to an amazing experience. Thank goodness for SpaWeek. I don't think I'd ever be able to indulge in such luxuries like a facial if it weren't for it. I was wow'd from the moment I stepped into this hotel! There's complimentary valet for those attending the spa by the way. Love the modern and luxurious decor of the hotel. Now onto the spa. It's located on the second floor where the Oasis pool is. This is free to spa guests! Mental note: bring swimwear next time. The staff was courteous upon entrance. This is my first time getting a facial, and I think the lady who gave me my treatment did a great job. She asked me more questions to make sure she was using the right products on my face. It was so relaxing the entire time and when it was all over I didn't want to get up! I'm glad she didn't try to push me to buy products. I wish I could afford them though because my skin feels so wonderfully smooth right now! At $50 for SpaWeek, what a steal! read more
