I sent out some additional requests for quotes on this part but almost everyone either wanted to come do another $75-95 diagnostic to say the same thing or told me the unit was too old/parts were too difficult to find so I should just replace the whole unit. Bladimir got back to me with zero hassle about just wanting a quote and had the best one out of all the people I spoke with that day, probably 15+ companies. He even had a model-specific rep for my out of date HVAC that had the parts in stock. They were able to come out to replace the compressor early afternoon the next day and were extremely responsive over text. However, when they left there was still no cold air. He came first thing the next morning and was able to diagnose that wires were also touching and causing the system to blow HOT AIR every time the a/c came on, and fixed it immediately! The compressor was still damaged and needed to be replaced, not just the wiring issue and we're not sure why they happened together, but I feel like another company would have charged for more expensive parts or just force a whole system replacement without trying to find this simple fix. He also repaired the thermostat housing which had never attached to the wall properly at no charge. 100/10. I hope I never have a/c issues again but he's the only one I would call and would a billion percent recommend him and his team to anyone needing to get cool again.

Minutes later she called back: they could help, and we booked for Monday. Matthew, from Veteran Air, showed up this morning and was a total pro. He greeted my dogs like old friends, then tackled the monster unit without scratching the window frame or siding. Watching him wrestle that sealed-in relic out of the wall convinced me I never could've done it alone. The unbelievable thing? The bill was tiny. Every the same issue would pop up and the guy would tell me the last guy did something wrong. By this point I'd gotten enough education around a/c issues that I decided I needed to just call someone completely new and see if he'll listen. Tommy listened and walked me through some things first to help. Then he got someone out to tell me what's going on. He was honest about everything before work started. Hit a snag later on but let me know not to worry he'd make sure we got air going. Most tried to upsell a completely new line and take it up the outside of the house for astronomical amounts of money and disgusting looks for the house.. The needed work was just to solder or weld the line closed and refill. Their people looked at it and did only what was needed and did not charge a fortune, nor did they try to sell us something we did not want, need or ask for. The house is cool again and we found a new HVAC company for our needs when we have future problems.
