I ordered 4 steak tacos with lettuce and cilantro on the side as well as some limes. The best part? Probably the lettuce! Solid little taco place in Berwyn, with other locations in & around the city. Ordered some steak tacos and rice to-go they were tasty and the meat was not charred like others have experienced thankfully. Nothing super exceptional but will be back in the future. Amazing steak tacos. Meat is tender, juicy, and real steak! The service is solid. The cashier ladies are rude though. They communicate on purpose in a different language with you to see how you respond. When you speak Spanish back to them, they code-switch to English but their English is not effective. I have been going to Zaca tacos for over 20 years . I found her nachos to be the best in the city . My experience over the last two years have completely changed my mind . The quality has been getting worse and worse . I must say I will never try the Harlem location ever again . Sunday July 29 in the evening I decided to go to Zacatacos and get a meal for my little family. I ordered taco dinner and extra tacos and go pick it up. My food was packed and set aside for 10 minutes while I was there waiting with receipt in hand before they informed me food was ready. I get home and there was no beans in my overpriced taco dinner. I call and the manager said I can go next time and get a free small side of beans for my inconvenience. Not so good any more. I had enjoyed going regularly for the past couple of years but things have changed. For me, the deal killer is no more ground beef for tacos or burritos. That was a sudden, unexpected change a few months ago. How can a taco joint not serve at least ground beef?!? It's a basic. I just don't care for the charcoal taste of their steak tacos though some folks do like it and that seems to be their specialty. They also have a new menu that looks like a way stripped-down version of the previous one which was far more extensive. And the last time I was there late December 2017, it was far less crowded so this change thing may not be working out well for them. Prices were reasonable, service variable. Later I discovered Tony's Mexican Grill just down Ogden Ave. in Lyons which is much better and the dinners come with a great small guac salad as well. read more

This place does an awful job making sure you get your CORRECT order for pickup. We paid for 15 tacos and brought home our order only to find that we only had 8! I asked if they could deliver the missing tacos and the manager refused. I have 4 kids and it's not easy for me to pack them all up when their hungry and head out the door! One of the best carne asada taquerias in the city. This location is very consistent with the rest of their Chicagoland locations. First & foremost, they use arrachera (skirt steak) not chuck roll as the beef filling for their tacos, tortas & burritos. It has this very distinct taste thats different from most other taco places.I usually get one taco de carne asada and a gordita de rajas con queso.PERFECTION!!! If the service here wasn't so awful I would give this place four stars. The food is very good, and very reasonable. You can get a huge meal for two for about ten dollars. However, the service is so bad! I tried to call for a pick up order and was left on hold for almost five minutes. So I hung up and called back. I placed my order and was told ten minutes. When I arrived to pick up my food I was very rudely told that no one had made my order and it wasn't their fault!! I explained I called and the incredibly rude girl insisted I had called another location and asked me to recite the phone number. Right, because I memorized it. She didn't even apologize. I give it 2 stars only because the food is great. The cooks do a great job but the service is less than mediocre so I rarely dine in. The take out service is pretty fast but completely awful at the same time. If you do take-out ALWAYS GO THROUGH YOUR BAGS BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!!! My favorite zacatacos location is in Burbank, IL. It's located on Harlem avenue. They seem to be the best representation of what Zacatacos is all about. This location however, seems to not value customer service. Perhaps they are just overwhelmed with the high demand for such a small facility. One time I ordered my food to go and I asked the guy that took my order to please be sure that they put two green sauces in the bag. He immediately told me that I had to pay extra in an offensive manner. I then explained that I am a regular customer at other locations and that they never charged me for sauce. He then calmed down but was still a little angry. He then assured me that the extra green sauce would be in the bag when I got it. When My number was called, I took my bag and asked him if he put the requested green sauce in the bag. He said that he did and not to worry about it. I thanked him despite his rude demeanor. When I got to the car, my wife told me to check the bag. We looked in the bag and there was only one green sauce. He lied about green sauce. What does that tell you? I've only had take out, never have dined in, so far has been pretty good. BUT, my complaint is this, there are 50,000 mexican take-out joints in the Chicagoland area so we have many places to choose where to give our business to...the reason for my most recently choosing to spend my money here at Zacatacos is because of gordita choices offered on their menu which is plastered all over the internet. As I was putting in my order I was informed they did not sell "chicharron" gordita although it was advertised on the online menu. Fine. So I instead chose "piccadillo" and once again was informed this option was not sold. Ok, ownership/management really needs to step up and make the effort to keep their restaurant info, especially something as important as the MENU (and website too for that matter) current or then maybe customers will choose to take their business elsewhere like to Tony's Mexican Grill or Lalo's restaurant..... read more
