Favorite Thai place was closed today so I decided to try a new place. 6 minutes before the time that was given to me on eat 24 for it to ARRIVE, they call me. It sounds like I'm talking to a teenager who has ZERO phone skills, let alone any customer service skills whatsoever. She says she's out of the pineapple flavor of smoothie, then awkward pause. I said okay, so... And she says "I can make you...... Strawberry...... Or hey I can bring you a Thai ice tea?". Super confused because there are like 7 flavors of smoothies on their order site, she offered strawberry or an entirely different drink.... Strange. So I just asked if instead they could just take the smoothie off my bill. She literally just shoves the phone into a different persons face, another girl who sounds exactly like her, who says "hello?" I said "hi?" she says "hi...." *long pause* and after a solid 30 seconds I say I'm sorry, is this a different person? And she says oh yeah sorry, yeah this is a different person. WTF? Who answers a business phone and just repeats hi... My jaw actually hit the floor at this point. So weird. I explained everything that happened so far, she said she didn't know, shouted to someone else in the same room as her if she knew how to refund money when ordered from eat 24, asked if I'd hold, set the phone on the table (without pressing hold) and had a conversation with her "boss" on the phone for a solid five minutes before she came back and said "nevermind, we have pineapple, so we'll be there in about 20 minutes". The food was suppose to arrive already, so I clarified, and she said "well yeah, we have to make the smoothie...." And then said sorry and hung up. The literal most awkward and strange conversation I've EVER had on the phone. So many things they could've done. Starting with putting an adult on the phone. Offering any of the other flavors to me that their website offered. Using a hold button. Having general speaking skills of any sort.
Update: food came 20 minutes later from the phone call. The girl brought a piece of printer paper with my order on it that she had me sign saying I promised to pay for the food. I asked if I could have a copy of what I was signing and she said she only had one, and they usually "put it online or something". After reading the other reviews, it's clear these people are money obsessed and haven't got a single clue about how to operate a business. My smoothie isn't pineapple, it's clearly pina colada cocktail mix and ice blended together (makes me think they didn't find the pineapple, but the manager just told them to use that) but they brought me two of them and said that was for the problem. I live alone, so I'll be throwing it away. Not sure how that's suppose to make up for it. The pad Thai came cold, with hot spices lumped in the middle and no flavor anywhere else. The tofu salad was $9 for a small side size? And I got about ten pieces of iceberg lettuce.... Really nothing special at ALL. Will never go back, and will continue ordering from my fave Thai place, all rice Thai hut, which is a little hole in the wall place that tastes incredible, always shows up on time or early, and shows up hot. I suggest you do the same. read more
