Amazing! I ordered the Mediterranean Salmon Rice Bowl and it was perfectly cooked. The beautiful grill marks on the outside gives a nice sweet caramelized char flavor. While the inside remained moist and tender with just the right amount of pinkness (See pic). Every bite of salmon is topped with a coarsely chopped basil parsley pesto sauce. Which allows you to taste each flavor of the ingredient while creating a nice harmonic balance. Tip: Must order extra chickpea tomato herbed rice and pickled onion! Yes, it was that good. This is great takeout! I started with the muhummara with warm pita. It was really tasty and the pita was nice and soft and spongy. They have a chickpea wrap on the menu which I was intrigued by. Delicious! A ton of vegetarian options to pick and choose from. We got the muhammara dip which was really, really good, and the falafel wrap, which was equally yum. I don't even know where to start! This place is so good, the word "delicious" just isn't enough! The food is so flavorful, the sauces are top notch and the rice...HOW?! How can something taste THIS good?! Ugh! So freaking amazing! This is the second time I order food from here and it has been amazing both times. I got the grilled chicken plate and it comes with garbanzo rice, grilled veggies and an amazing yellow sauce. I also asked for their fresh jalapeño sauce and that was to die for! Great service from door dash delivering it quickly in front of our door. However, the food quality was mediocre. The falafel wrap was cold, pita wasn't fully cooked and untoasted. The actual falafel was cold in temperature. Fries were also cold and stale so we had to use an air fryer to heat it up. Chicken rice dish was okay. Okay, I'm happy to report that this place definitely lives up to their rave reviews. I ordered the chicken keto bowl (with cauliflower rice) and a side of hummus that everyone recommended via Ubereats. Let me tell you: I've had these "keto cauliflower rice" bowls from other famous places in which I shall not name. Usually what happens is the cauliflower rice is not cooked properly or they shredded the cauliflower too thin so it tastes mushy/so greasy. This one was legit perfectly made and NO runny liquid all over the place. Chicken was nicely charred and tons of veggies (grilled cauliflower and red pepper). If you like the tart taste, the tzatziki sauce is perfect. Hummus was great. It's got more ratio of tahini than regular so it is more rich. The pita bread on the side seems to be more like l'affaire, which is the fluffier (and arguably way better) than regular pita bread so I highly recommend it. We just got our first delivery from Za'atar and what should I say. The food wasn't only healthy (keto) but also delicious. My Keto Cluck Katoush Salad was made with super fresh ingredients. The dressings couldn't have been better. The meat could have been a little bit tender but it still tasted very good. My wife had the Fattoush salad and it wasn't less yummy. Za'atar is the best Mediterranean food I've encountered in decades of living in San Francisco. There may well be some "fine dining" Michelin starred place that is better, but in the "normal restaurant" space, Za'atar is without peer. This is true of their food even when delivered across town, one presumes it'd be even better in a non-COVID era dining room. Both vegetarian and meat-centric main dishes are packed full of flavor and are well portioned, seasoned and sauced. Their sides, pickles and spreads (Hummus, Babaganoush, etc.) are similarly excellent. Special commendation is due their seasoned rice, which contains chick peas and is truly excellent. If you're considering ordering delivery from Za'atar, do it! You'll be glad you did. read more

Whether or not I got the place right this dish was memorable! The pita was fluffy and just a bit doughy the way I like it. Colleague got the lamb shoulder wrap and it came with fries inside--not what he was expecting so just a heads up. The beef and lamb pita has veggies inside, and the lamb isn't gamely in my opinion. Balanced and healthy eating with options for every family member (e.g., we were able to select gluten free pita bread for the wrap, as well as baked gluten free pita chips for the salad). Very tasty - red pepper walnut dip - this didn't end up in the bag! No worries, it happens - pita - delicious - hummus & falafel - really good! Hummus in particular was delicious. Very creamy and not bitter at all. The one negative thing was the jalapeño extra dip was not spicy at all, this place needs some really properly hot hot sauce, like orens hummus has. And the eggplant... what magic do they use to create the Fire Roasted Eggplant Rice Bowl? It might have been my favorite thing I sampled. We loved everything. The Lamb & Beef Kabob Rice Bowl was dynamite as was the Greek Chicken Bowl. So much flavor, fresh ingredients, and huge portions (well for me at least. Everyone else licked their plates clean... little piggies). I loved that the hummus had whole chickpeas for texture. And I never knew cauliflower rice could taste so good. I may consider going Keto for the Keto Greek Chicken Bowl alone. But wait, I love carbs (sorry Keto freaks). Speaking of, get a Keto bowl so you can justify the french fries and dipping sauce. They had me at the very first bite of rice. Garbanzo beans, tomatoes, herbs and spices and magic fairy dust; I could just order a bucket of it and happily eat forkful after forkful. But then I'd miss out on the delightfully crunchy pickled onions, the beautiful purple cauliflower and their roasted veggie friends. How did I not know about this place????
