It had snowed that particular week, so not sure if it was quiet because of that, because there was only one other customer in the restaurant. The place is quite plain and noticeably sparse. I shared a Bateeni Sampler with a co-worker. My thoughts - Hummus and Babaghanouj were quite good. - Falafel had a lot more sesame than I normally see, which I liked - Tabbouleh was very fresh - Grape leaves and cabbage salad was OK Despite being very quiet, the food took a long time to prepare. I would say it probably took 15-20 minutes, which seemed very long. Server was nice enough, but there was definitely some miscommunication between the front and back because we ordered a few items to go too, so we waited around 5-10 minutes to find out what we wanted wasn't available. There was some difficulties with refunding what we prepaid, so we ended up taking other food as a substitute. Overall, food was fine, but service had a lot of room for improvement.

My husband had the chicken kabob plate and I had the lamb gyro - both of which were phenomenal. The pistachio baklava was also great. Mediterranean food has been my go to since being pregnant and we will likely stop in here every trip to Greenville! Service was quick and our waitress was attentive.

This place is a little hidden gem in a random strip mall. I was on an epic day of thrifting with my…read moremom, and so at one of our stops we yelped a lunch option nearby. We both love Mediterranean food, and the reviews were great, so we stopped in. The chef makes everything to order, and she evidentially is the former owner, who sold her shop in order to spend more time with grandkids. She's lovely! As we waited for our food there were a few others who came in and seemed to be regulars who knew how good this place is. I got chicken shawarma deluxe, and it was perfect. No notes! My mom got the vegetarian platter and specifically raved about the falafel- they were like adorable little donuts and really tasty. I would highly recommend this place! Glad to hear a change in ownership didn't seem to cause any issues.

How dare I take that long to try it. Although, I went in just as they were closing, they were super accommodating and patient as I decided what to get. I had the Lamb Gyro Platter, it comes with a salad, hummus and tzatziki sauce. The lamb was tender and a little crispy. The portions are big and I would highly recommend for a quick Mediterranean spot.

Small and very clean, almost hole in the wall kind of place in an old shopping center in a…read moreresidential neighborhood. Arabic music playing. Service is very friendly, and as quick as possible, considering that stuff seems to be made to order. I ordered a chicken kebab platter which comes over a bed of basmati rice, possibly with saffron. Whatever the rice tasted great and it wasn't dry like at a lot of places. The chicken was marinated in a tangy yogurt-spice mix, grilled and topped with a tahini sauce. Delicious! As sides I got mujadara and roasted vegetables which were also tasty. I'll be back for takeout for sure in the future.

"Bodega-like Mediterranean Grill & Grocery in Parkwood area of Durham"…read more This place is WAY off the beaten path for most, but I'm so happy to have gotten to try it out. Nestled in a little strip between a Muslim school and a mosque is this grill and grocery. We came on a Wednesday evening, and almost every table was already taken by diners. You order your food at a counter, and it has the Middle Eastern foods you'd expect-- kofta, shawarma, gyros, falafel, baba ghanouj, hummus, baklava, etc. I opted for the lamb gyro sandwich with a side of baba ghanouj, and my dining partner had the falafel sandwich. They call your number when it's ready. Food took maybe 10 minutes to receive, so we browsed the market area. It's not a huge selection, but very traditional-- nice seeing so many labels in Arabic, and along with standards (e.g., canned fava beans for Ful Medames), they also had things like frozen chopped mulukhiyah leaves-- that's definitely a rarer sight. Lots of good spices too. The food was EXCELLENT. The lamb was juicy and perfect (unlike what another Yelp review said), the tzatziki sauce was delicious, and the baba ghanouj was perfectly cooked and textured. I had a small bite of the falafel, and it was indeed one of the best I've had in the US. Price was fair, too-- the sandwiches are all under $10 before tax and tip, and making it a combo with side and drink cost just something like $2.50. And service was friendly-- although they called out numbers, they did walk out with the food to try to find and bring you your dishes. And while it was an older space, it was overall still generally clean. Overall, I'd VERY happily come back.
