Curry Corner is a new addition to Downtown Smithfield. It has been in businesses about two weeks now. I think it is the only restaurant in Smithfield with Indian cuisine. It is open for both lunch and dinner. You can dine in at one of the tables, at the bar, or outside. The restaurant is on the smaller side with eight tables, making it feel cozy. The restaurant has a nice ambiance with the decor, the Bollywood music, and dancing on the television above the bar. As street parking is no longer allowed in Downtown Smithfield, that is not an option. The restaurant does have its own parking lot. It is just a little confusing to find the entrance. I saw the lot but couldn't figure out how to get to it. But I did ask, and you access the lot from the Wells Fargo entrance. When I entered Curry Corner, I was allowed to choose my own table before the restaurant filled up. I was served complimentary papadam, a crispy bread, and three dipping sauces. I forgot what they were, but I liked the green and tomato ones. I was given some time to look over the menu. The menu offers a variety of items, from butter chicken to tikka masala to tandoori to korma to vindaloo to karahi to saag. The menu has vegetarian and meat dishes. I went with the shrimp korma as I didn't think I had tried that dish before. I also got an order of garlic naan. I ordered a mango lassi, and they brought out another complimentary dish of rice pudding. I did enjoy the shrimp korma. The flavors and portions were good. It was a creamy sauce with nuts and raisins. I had to take some of the dish to go. I left it in the hotel refrigerator, so I am disappointed I didn't get my leftovers. I considered driving back to get it, but it was likely tossed during the time I drove home. So that just means I need to return to Curry Corner for more. The garlic naan was perfect for dipping into the korma. The mango lassi and rice pudding were also a great part of my meal. The spice level can be ordered from 1 to 5. I ordered a 2, and it was a little spicier than I expected, but not so spicy that I couldn't enjoy it. The service was very friendly and attentive from the moment I walked in the door. I liked that the atmosphere was relaxed and I was not rushed. Payment can also be made at the table. Curry Corner is a great addition to Smithfield.

When I say that I witness the best customer service at this restaurant I mean it! People was coming in with list of lunch orders and they went out of the way to grab the list and write everyone's name of the order so there's no confusion. I loved the attention to detail I saw, from the food and cleanliness. All the food was cooked to order and tasted delicious. Prices was great. I order a to-go order and even the lamb chop was very tasty and tender! Wish it was a little more crispy but it was still delicious. Definitely would recommend

Samosa Chaat. Soooo delish and great portion for sharing!!

This place is amazing! We haven't eaten in the restaurant but we've ordered take out a couple of times. They've always made the food with the right amount of heat. They even ran to catch us bc we forgot to grab our drink! I would recommend eating here if you love Indian food or if you want to try something new!

Only one way to describe eating at Curry Corner, 5 words: GONE AND WENT TO HEAVEN!! We are from New York, where any kind of cuisine is available. Indian is our favorite. In all of Joco, maybe even all of NC, this is hands down the most delicious, authentic & satisfying Indian food we've eaten since moving here in 2018. Last night was no exception. The juicy & crispy meat samosas were a party for the palate. The green chutney, fantastic. The tamarind chutney beyond description!! Dip anything in those two chutneys and it's an incomparable flavor fiesta!!! The chili paneer, to die for. Perfectly cooked, robust peppers & onions, paneer cubes, seared to perfection!! The chicken Tikka masala, mouth watering!! The chicken vindaloo dinner was untouchable culinary complexity. The Chicken chili Karahi, utterly fantastic, perfect rice and of course crispy garlic Naan to scoop up all the delectable sauce the chicken is swimming in. If I could jump into the sauce and just swim in it, I would. Yes!!! It's that good. It's reasonably priced and the waiters cater to your every need. The chef cooks everything to your individual spice level, and you are left stuffed and satisfied as a pig in mud! The food is so good, you just might slap your mama. So, if your hankering for exotic excellence, this is a hidden gem, an absolute treasure in sleepy little Smithfield. Give it try, cause a little bit of spice never hurt nobody. I hope Curry Corner remains in our downtown for a very long time, life is too short, buy the shoes, take the trip, eat the delicious food at Curry Corner, where you are treated like family, and fed like family too!!!

Left is basmathi rice, center is chicken curry, right dish is palak paneer garnished with little sticks of ginger.

The food, service and ambiance were all great! The food had the correct spices and the flavors were balanced. The chef would adjust the spiciness to your taste. The potions were generous and the staff kind and attentive. We are lucky that they have opened their restaurant in Smithfield!

We had such an amazing experience at this Indian restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Everyone was so friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu -- they took the time to answer questions. The food was absolutely incredible. Every dish was full of flavor, perfectly spiced, and beautifully presented. You can really tell they care about quality and authenticity. They were also incredibly accommodating with food allergies everyone at the table had something they loved. The service was seamless, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for outstanding Indian cuisine and exceptional hospitality!

The lamb was extremely firm. I've never had lamb that you had to chew for 5 minutes and you can't even cut through even with a knife

You can make reservations using the Yelp app, but we got there at 6pm Thursday and tables were open anyway. It filled up in about 90 minutes. Not a lot of pics in the huge menu. They have specials on certain days. After we ordered, we found out about a great deal for Thursdays. It was our fault we missed it because it was written RIGHT THERE on the menu. The lack of pics made it tough to order, though I'd had Indian many times. And the thick accents from the employees didn't help us to decide anything. Myself, I just stuck to curry. I picked mutton because I'd always wanted to try it. Yelp pics didn't help much either because few people write in descriptions what the photos are. Everything tasted amazing. They really know their food. Not to take anything away from the main dishes (I told you I loved them) but the standout for me were the fried pepper appetizers. A mix of just enough outside crunch and soft inside flavor. I'm no fan of chai tea, but I really liked theirs. The mutton was great, but I more prefer my meals without bones in them. Like with oxtails, which are routinely more skeleton than flesh, it's never a fine experience finding your bite to be a mouthful of bone. It's overrated, I promise you. The bill paying system is grossly inefficient. Tell them you want separate checks and nothing happens until the very end where everyone has to tell the server what they ordered, in a language they don't understand, mind you, and she charges everyone, one by one. It took like ten minutes to get through our party of five. It's a really bad method. Since it was my birthday, they played a YouTube video over the speakers. It was a generic "Happy Birthday To Whomever" type deal that worked fine, but they let it play for its whole fifteen minute runtime. It was cute, funny and ridiculous all at once. Wonderful food, nice servers, language barriers can be tough, and some questionable business practices still make this one a solid keeper. Just brace yourself.

I ordered two butter chickens for my husband and I, garlic Naan and a Mango Lassi. The butter chicken was delicious but adding the garlic naan along with it really pulled it all together. The mango lassi had just the right amount of sweetness to it. I can't wait to go back and explore more of their menu.

The host was on the phone taking orders so we had to wait for a few minutes before we got seated. The restaurant has a cozy yet classy feel. Mango lassi was great. Sweet and rich. Aaam panna was refreshing. Vegetable platter was a good one to sample a lot of the appetizers. It had 2 pieces of the following vegetable samosa, spring roll, paneer pakora, vegetable pakora, and gobhi pakora. The lamb biryani was delicious. Service was awesome and everyone was warm. I'm not sure what was going on outside the restaurant, but there was a very unpleasant odor. Had we not already placed our order, I might have gotten right back in the car. Fortunately, the smell didn't carry inside. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with lovely blue hues and modern accents that create a welcoming atmosphere. Our food was hot and ready at the promised time. I liked the menu setup, which allows you to choose your protein or vegetables, sauce, and preferred spice level. The mild Tikka Masala with tilapia was excellent. The mild Chicken Saag was a bit spicier than expected, and the spinach is puréed more thoroughly than at some restaurants where the greens remain more distinct. That said, it was very flavorful, and the chicken was exceptionally moist. The Lachha Parantha, described as a flaky bread, was a little overdone and chewy. On the other hand, the kheer (rice pudding) was rich, flavorful, and pleasantly thick. Overall, Lazeez serves fantastic Indian food in Rocky Mount. Despite a couple of minor issues, we'd happily order from them again.
