Stopped at this little spot to satisfy my Sweet tooth!! I learned about it on TikTok, but went...... because freshly baked cookies with ice cream will always be a, YES! Parking sucks over there, so be prepared for that. But they evening ambiance gives whimsical before you enter the door. You might have to wait to enter the door because there was line when I went and we were asked to keep the door closed while we waited. There are lights at the entrance of this cute shop located on a small strip. Once you enter, you're greeted my the fragrant spices of Indian food and the sweet smell of baked goods! There's a case and cooler of ready-made individual cakes and beverages. Framed menus are posted on the wall. The cashier was nice enough, but was overwhelmed by the crowd. The real start was the gentleman that delivered your prepared orders. He was very kind and hospitable. I got the scooped cookie and it was delicious. The perfect salty and sweet ratio and the texture and temperature combo with the ice cream was perfection. I will definitely be taking my friends there when they come to town and this is my new "treat"!! I plan to try savory samosas and chai on my next visit. Seating is limited and cramped. Ammi's is a South Asian-inspired bakery in Raleigh that offers aesthetic sweet treats including cakes and cheesecakes, drinks like chai and lassi, plus savory dishes ranging from samosas to chaats to biryanis. The common denominator among the cakes we tried was that they were all tasty, uniquely flavored, perfectly sweet, and pretty. Ranked from my most to least favorite: - Pistachio milk cake: Reminiscent of a tres leches, which is one of my favorite desserts ever. The pistachio flavor was super strong, and the cake was so soft with lots of milk present. - Tea-ramisu: My second favorite only because the first layer wasn't fully soaked (so minor though). I loved the strong but not overwhelming spice essence. - Gulab jamun cake: Take this with a grain of salt because the rest of my family loved this while I didn't. I liked the gulab jamun pieces and the floral taste, but the cake layer itself was a bit too crumbly and dry. Service was fast, ambiance is super cute (on the smaller side though), and there's some parking up front. It was definitely worth the drive from Durham for me, 10/10 would recommend! read more

WORTH THE HYPE. I definitely first heard about this place from TikTok but genuinely it's worth it. The fresh scooped hot cookie dough and brownie is insane. I came with my parents and we all agree the biscoff tiramisu cookie was the best but brookie combo was a close second. VERY rich but VERY good. The ice cream cools down the hot cookie and brownie. We also got a cheesecake and bubble cake to take home and try later. It definitely is expensive for the little cup you get but it's so rich and yummy it's worth it. The don't have a ton of seating inside and about 2 tables outside which id say is the only flaw. The staff does bring your items out to you which is super nice. Not the greatest experience. The first time I came here the staff was very knowledgeable and invested in the food. I asked which coffee was hot and decaf, she said the biscoff coffee. I don't believe it was decaf, but I trusted her. When I get the coffee, it's cold. I explained that I wanted a hot coffee and she looked at me and didn't say anything. Everything at Ammi's is so delicious! I've been here 3 times now and just got around to trying their savory foods. I got the veggie and chicken samosas, and they gave me the vegetable samosa chaat to try (which was actually my favorite thing). I highly recommend the mango lassi tiramisu as well! I think it had a layer of graham crust that added flavor and texture. 10/10 Gulab Jamun Cake: I liked that the bottom "cake" layer was made of gulab jamun. Moist and tasted like a lighter version of the real thing. 8/10 Tea-ramisu Masala Chai Cake: Apparently I was the only one who thought the chai/cardamom flavor wasn't strong enough. Stopped by Ammi's and thought it was a really beautiful space. The interior is very aesthetic and feels like a nice place to sit and work for a bit. The desserts are definitely on the pricier side but also glittery and eye-catching, in a way that feels very intentional. They have a huge variety of flavors to choose from and give you box cutters to help cut the stickers. Staff were really nice and explained all the flavors when we asked for more detail! I tried the Indian pistachio milk cake and really liked it. The pistachio flavor came through well, it wasn't too sweet, and it felt pretty light overall (the cloud cakes were softer and less milky in comparison). I got the black forest cake, which tasted juicy with the cherry syrup. I particularly enjoyed the mango lassi flavoured cakes - so refreshing and accurate to the mango lassi taste! We've had desserts at Cilantro and loved them! When we heard about Ammi's opening up, we were so excited to have the option for just the desserts so close to home. We tried the Double chocolate crunch and Tea-ramisu cakes, both were so delicious! Loved that the tea-ramisu used chai instead of coffee for a spin on a classic. We also tried their chicken and beef patties, which were seasoned so well. My husband said it reminded him of patties he would get from the canteens back home. The moment we opened the door, we were hit with a smell so strong I'm pretty sure it rearranged my DNA. Maybe it was supposed to be "ambience," but it felt more like "chemical warfare." The place itself is decorated like Instagram had a midlife crisis and decided to puke aesthetics into a shoebox. Cozy? Nope. Claustrophobic? 100%. I half-expected the walls to close in on me like that trash compactor scene from Star Wars. We bravely ordered the much-hyped gulab jamun cake. Now, silly us, we thought there would be cake. What we got instead was a cup of whipped cream stuffed with chopped gulab jamuns, like someone lost a bet in a dessert-making contest. It was so sugary that my teeth started vibrating in Morse code begging me to stop. Thank goodness for the free water, which quickly became the star of the meal. Needless to say, we left half the "cake" behind and escaped before the air freshener claimed more victims. Driving all the way here felt like going on a pilgrimage... but the kind where the gods laugh at you. Moral of the story: Don't believe everything you see on Instagram reels. This place was such a mixed bag. I loved the coconut lemon cake, and the tiramisu. The gulab jamun cake was good as well but I've had gulab jamun warm for the most part, so it was a little strange to have them in a cold dessert, although I loved the idea of pairing it with a cream! The level of sweetness was complimentary, the cream was light and not too sweet which off set the rich gulab jamun. The samosa chaat was so disappointing though. It was incredibly sweet. I have never had a sweet samosa chaat before. The samosa itself was tasty, but there was a sauce on top that had a honey-like texture and the same level of sweetness. I have also never seen a samosa chaat with as much sauce on top as what I was served. It was way too much, and the overly sweet sauce ruined the dish. This was especially disappointing because the samosa filling itself was so good! I hope they can iron out some wrinkles in their food! It has potential but the final product is currently just meh in my opinion. Fine if you want to go to a place that's instagrammable, but not if you want truly great food. read more

My husband and I visited for the first time and tried the samosa chaat and chicken tikka masala. The portions were a bit confusing for the chicken tikka masala. Both dishes tasted good. Samosa chaat is a tad on the sweet side. There is a huge variety of cakes to try. We chose the pistachio cake as recommended by the staff who were very friendly and kind. It was decent. If I could give it a zero, I would. Went there to check footage because our vehicle was hit. The employee told us, we would have to be a customer to see the footage. Walked out, discussed things and came back. We then bought something to watch the footage but then they said we needed a police report. (We told them when we first walked in that we were waiting on the police to come to the scene). So we told them to give us a refund since we didn't have a police report at the time. Both employees began giving us attitudes and ignoring us. They went to the next customers in line without acknowledging us. Overall, it took so long to get a freaking refund back and they didn't even care. It took like an hour to get an $8 refund with no footage. We never even spoke with the manager. It was just a back and forth with the messenger/ employee. Just rude asf and a complete waste of time. So unprofessional. read more
