Excellent food at this new Mediterranean spot in WF, taking over in the former Grandma's Diner space. The interior is a holdover from the prior venue - booths along the left wall and a few tables. Order at the counter, they bring the food to the table. A great selection of favorites on the menu. Everything from kebobs to shawarma. And some delicious desserts. Service is friendly and quick. Time from order to service was 10 minutes. Tried a mix shawarma platter. Generous helpings of aromatically seasoned chicken and beef are served over perfect basmati rice. The meats are tender and moist and very flavorful. I chose taziki and stuffed grape leaves as sides. Taziki is tangy and creamy. Perfect for dipping the pita bread. Grape leaves exactly as they should be - rolled tight and stuffed with seasoned rice. Also tried a mix shawarma bowl. Same ingredients as the platter but served over salad instead of rice. Can't forget about the falafel wrap. Earthy, crunchy falafel plus salad veggies in a grilled wrap. Delicious. On this nite also treated to some complimentary lentil soup. OMG this is delicious. Worth a trip to Yumma just for the soup! Lastly grabbed a few cubes of baklava for dessert. Classic prep done right. Layers and layers of philo interspersed with chopped nuts and bathed in sweet sticky honey. Baklava is my weakness and Yumma does it right. We met the owner and his family. Great people - enthusiastic about their food (justifiably so) and grateful that we stopped in to give them a try. I encourage you to do the same -- Recommended.

Just had lunch here and its wonderful. Started with lentil soup (free) and it was one of the best lentil soups I've had The baba ghanoush was also very good, smokey but not too much where it's not good. The two bowls were very good. Shwarma was tasty, beef was our favorite over the chicken.

Friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. Nice music on in the background. Food came fresh and hot and fast and the soup was a nice little surprise.

Best falafel I've had! The lentil soup was also delicious. My husband ordered the meat platter, and it tasted great as well. The customer service was wonderful; everyone was very friendly. There is also plenty of seating. We will definitely be back.

My family rarely goes out to eat anymore because of the cost of living in this economy, but on a whim we decided to visit Yumma after church, as I have been craving shawarma recently. The staff was extremely warm, humble, and inviting. On numerous occasions they came over and socialized with the guests and asked about the food, and were extremely friendly to my small children. They were kind enough to give my son some chocolate. The food was extremely tasty. It was filling, yet not too heavy. $9.99 for a wrap of this quality is hard to find elsewhere. I definitely recommend stopping by if you are in the area and supporting these friendly folks!

Amazing food and even better service! We ordered the shawarma bowl, shawarma plate, and lentil soup, and everything was delicious! The portions were great and the lentil soup was so good.

This was our second visit and somehow it was even better than the first. The owner is so kind and welcoming, and the food is honestly amazing and tastes truly authentic. My husband is half Lebanese and half Iraqi, and he said it was as good as his mom's cooking ... which I don't think I've ever heard him say before . So glad to have a place like this in Wake Forest!

Delicious Indian food in Wake Forest!…read more Super kind staff and quick service. Our favorites here are the chicken Korma, the paneer palak, and the garlic naan. They do a 1-10 spice level which I love. I think a 5 has a good building heat and there are plenty of options to go hotter or more mild from there. Great for takeout or in person.

Instead, a very kind man greeted me and escorted me to a table. The restaurant is very bright inside and a little industrial, but decorated in standard well-worn Indian fare. Their menu is filled with familiar favorites and a couple surprise stand-outs like momo and some Afghani dishes. And to my very pleasant surprise, they offer goat as an option in several dishes. I love goat meat, and can't get it very often, since hardly anyone offers it. So I delighted ordered goat curry, 7 on the spicy scale, and a side of raita, in case the kitchen has a sense of humor. As it turns out, I thought the 7 was fairly med-mild, but my spice level in near super-human. But the kind waitress brought me "Spicy Sauce@ which added a delightful kick!! The curry came with rice and a nice papadaam/chutney set-up. And portions were large enough that I took half home and enjoyed it the next day (when it was even better!!). So definitely an A+ experience. Highly recommended!! Will definitely be back!!!

We had let the staff know ahead of time how many were in our party and I can't say enough good things about how well-prepared they were. The staff at this place is absolutely amazing. Now, onto the food. They have both an Italian and Uzbek menu. I got the garlic knots, a side salad, and the steak kabobs, and my partner got a side salad and the lasagna. We both were very happy with our food. I really love the garlic knots here. In total we paid a little over $50, which included tip. An amazing experience beginning to end.

Craving something Mediterranean, something international and authentic. Shish House popped up on my radar and I stopped in for an early weekday lunch. They have the usual and traditional Mediterranean dishes, but I wanted something different today. Went with some authentic Yemeni food. I ordered the Fahsah Lehm. This is a Saltah (traditional Yemeni stew) with melt in your mouth lamb that came out piping hot and bubbling in a clay bowl (see vid). You can feel, hear, smell and taste the authenticity in this dish. Spices and flavors flowing all over. It comes out with an amazing garlic sauce and a Yemeni style green sauce, almost like a salsa. And if that wasn't enough, you get the biggest clay oven bread (a Yemeni Malawah) you have ever seen. Words don't do it justice, see pics for details. This is honestly the perfect edible shovel. Tear some off, scoop up some bubbling lamb and spices, then drag it through the garlic and green sauce. Get messy...flavor the authenticity this dish explodes with. One of the best international experiences which transports you somewhere else. And it's just a small unassuming spot in the international corridor on Market St by Super G Mart. ***PLACES LIKE THIS DEFINE MY LOVE FOR FOOD, AND WHAT MORE FOOD CAN DO THAN JUST SATIATE HUNGER.
