Flame Kabob reliably hits the spot every time. We got the Koobideh chicken kabob and the lamb kabob with lentil rice. You have to get their house hot sauce--it elevates the dish immediately. I do wish there were more veggies compared to the rice portion, but you can also get a double skewer for a reasonable price. The meat is beautifully cooked and spice, never dry. I haven't tried their stews yet, but they're next on the list. I'll definitely be going back for more. Service is quick, and they don't rush you out, which I appreciate. Extremely delicious! The eggplant appetizer was flavor town! The beef kabobs were extremely tasty! The seasoning was heavenly. The desserts are paradise! Yummy to my tummy! The rice is perfect too! Wow, this place has it going on! The eggplant dip was fresh and minty and the mooseer yogurt an excellent accompaniment to the warm triangles of light, crispy pita-like bread. Everything about the kabob sampler was excellent, and it was beautifully presented with a generous stripe of saffron rice, but next time I'll go straight for the juicy lamb kabob of my dreams. On top of it all, the staff and owner expertly and graciously coped with our group of ~30 on a rainy night when their outdoor tables were not usable. Thanks for a great evening! read more

I love this restaurant! The quality of the food and serving sizes are perfect especially if you're trying to get your protein goals in for the day. I usually order over the phone and pick up. When I do eat in the restaurant, I love their free hot tea. The service is very efficient and helpful. Especially if ordering over the phone. I love the marinated chicken kabobs and special (Persian??) rice with dill and lima beans (hubby makes this for me at home). My only suggestion on ambiance would be to get different lighting in the dining room. Warmer and lower light fixtures would certainly add a lot to the ambiance (besides the current fluorescent lights in the ceiling). But it won't prevent me from doing there or ordering take away! Overpriced low quality Persian food it's not even Persian because it seems more afghani and the style of food preparations and ingredients isn't even close to Persian cooking. It used to be good but management has no idea how to run this restaurant. The cucumber sauce had bad cucumbers in it, the bread wasn't fresh and hot, the stew was full of lentils instead of eggplants fo the stew with barely no meat. I asked for a refund and the servers are very young and not fully aware of the restaurant. I'm never coming back. It if your in desperate need go there and see for yourself. read more

Flame kabob has amazing food! I have had their food twice, once in person and once for takeout. I have tried their lamb platter, beef platter, and chicken platter and I have to say their beef platter is absolutely amazing and my favorite of the three. Their desserts were delicious too! I have had their Napoleon, faloodeh, and Persian ice cream and I loved them all. If you like floral desserts definitely try their ice cream or faloodeh! They use rosewater in it and it tastea heavenly. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the service was quite confusing when I went in person. I had ordered an appetizer and it was forgotten, and I was told I would get free tea with my dessert but it never showed up. I also asked for the check, but upon waiting awhile longer and having it not brought to my table I decided to just pay up front. I'm not sure if I went during an off day, but when I ordered delivery the second time, nothing was missed and everything was packaged well and cooked super quickly. Overall, I highly recommend the food here! I don't know when I would go again in person but I would definitely order delivery from here as I think about their beef platter and desserts at least once a day! read more

I visited Flame Kabob of Raleigh restaurant last night. When I received the check, the total was about $34. After I gave my credit card for payment, I noticed the final charge was around $40. Upon reviewing the receipt, I saw that an 18% gratuity had been automatically added. However, the receipt also included a separate line for an additional tip. This practice can easily create confusion for customers. When an automatic gratuity is included, it would be clearer and more transparent to remove the additional tip line or to clearly indicate that gratuity has already been added. I wanted to share this feedback so it can help improve the clarity of your billing process and ensure a better customer experience. read more

Food was ok but very expensive. We had no alcohol, they don't serve any. We ordered one small koubideh kabob. One small eggplant and beef stew, not even much meat. One extra rice with fava bean and dill for $4.99. One yogurt drink for $3.99. We drank water and the free tea. The bill was $59 without tip. Ouch. I know restaurant prices are higher these days but that was ridiculous. We can get two pork carnitas and bean burritos at San Jose Mexican next door that will fill us up for an entire day with free nachos and one beer for $45 without tip. Those burritos are so large you eat one for lunch and then eat a salad for dinner. read more

I start this review by saying we spent many years in Texas were you can get some of the best middle eastern food on the planet, next to being there, (160+ cuisines served in Houston nightly, not kidding), plus my husband was born overseas and we have traveled overseas, so to say we live and breath Mediterranean / Middle Eastern food is putting it lightly. In our search for the best Iranian / Persian food, we drove 2.5 hours specifically to dine at Flame Kabob. The restaurant was clean with a pleasant atmosphere, but some of the furniture is in disrepair, so our evening started out with my husband badly injuring his finger on a poorly maintained chair. Although staff didn't mention it, I am not sure how they could have missed the incident, plus us examining the broken chair. They could have at least offered him some ice. Our waitress was polite, and the food was freshly cooked. While most dishes resembled traditional Middle Eastern cuisine, some did not meet our expectations, possibly due to regional taste differences. Notably, the koobideh dish needs improvement, as the uneven spice distribution resulted in inconsistent flavors. However, the chocolate mousse was excellent. Initially, our experience was peaceful and enjoyable, but it quickly declined. After our meal, my husband approached the counter to order tea and encountered an extremely rude older woman who told him to get it himself. This exchange caused significant upset, particularly since it was our first visit. To make matters worse, the kitchen staff began yelling in Spanish, like children in a school yard, followed by a loud gathering of staff and visitors, having some sort of family reunion. I urged my husband to pay the bill so we could just leave. Our $47 unitemized check also left us frustrated, as it exceeded the menu and dessert menu prices. Our order consisted of 2 kabob koobideh, 1 kabob chicken breast, 1 chocolate mousse, and 2 complimentary teas. Upon checking UberEats, we discovered considerable discrepancies in online and in-house pricing, validating previous reviews highlighting unexpected price differences. Photos from past menus also revealed a pattern of price inflation at the restaurant. Thus, it remains unclear whether we were overcharged or if the restaurant's menu prices are wrong. This restaurant, small as it is, as the potential to be date night worthy, even with its well worn furniture and average food because of the atmosphere. But overcharging, rude service, and the sporadic taco truck ambiance is not going to get you there. This is a consistent theme in many of the reviews for this restaurant, many starting after the business changed hands. WE DROVE 2.5 HOURS TO EAT AT THIS RESTAURANT, only to be treated rudely and then overcharged. The food is below average by our standards, and, honestly, we get better and cheaper food at the two fast food Mediterranean places, and one Greek place, we have here locally in our town. We will not pay over $20 a plate, only to be treated like an inconvenience, especially when we are the ones that had to come to the counter to order something, because you staff couldn't be bothered to ask us if we needed anything or if we would like self service tea. Notwithstanding, if you are an upscale, $20+ a plate restaurant, I should be able to trust the prices listed in your restaurant. I would have given three stars for the food and nice atmosphere, but screaming cooks, overcharging, and rude staff earn you one star, which would be zero stars if I could rate you that low. read more

This is one of the few restaurants the whole family absolutely loves and visits frequently. The food is consistently good, service is great! They treat you like family. I like the Persian decor on the walls and the seating outside is very nice too! They were nice enough to reserve a table for our big group (15 people)! We ordered things family style and they accommodated that. We had chicken Koobideh, beef Koobideh, and lamb shank. Both the Koobideh were very soft and flavorful, the chicken one was slightly better. The lamb shank was so soft and tender! There was no gaminess to it. Everything was mildly spiced, so you could actually enjoy the flavors of the meat, but they had a very nice hot sauce as well, for those that want a little heat. Along with the meats, we had some bread, yogurt sauce (amazing with the kababs), morasa polo and lentil rice. The morasa polo had orange peels, carrots, barberries, and pistachios. Good combination of flavors and paired nicely with the shank. Hopefully next time I can take pictures before we start eating. read more

First time here for a lunch with friends. You get a few pieces of the bread with yogurt dip before your entree. It was very tasty. I got the chicken kebab with rice. It also comes with a charred tomato. Everything was excellent and well prepared. The chicken was so tender, moist, and flavorful. The restaurant is small. When full, it's quite noisy. The menu is on the table, underneath the glass top, which I thought was smart. No cleaning or throwing out menus like a lot of places are still doing. I really like this place. read more

We didn't know what to eat so we picked a restaurant that's close to the house. The restaurant was easy to locate in the shopping center. When we entered, the restaurant was busy, but we were immediately seated. The menus are laid out under the glass surface of the table. Our server came over to take our order when we were ready. She wasn't friendly, had no smile, no greeting, just took our order and walked away abruptly when we were done ordering. We ordered the skewer platter, lamb shank, and lamb rack. You can only get rice OR salad with the entrees, which was a bit off-putting, since we're used to getting both rice and salad at other restaurants. We ordered rice with the skewers and lamb rack entree and a salad with the lamb shank entree. The lamb shank was well braised. The meat was tender, but the sauce was very bland. The salad was a sad, big sad plate of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers with no dressing. The lamb rack entree came with 4 small lamb pieces. 1 out of 4 was perfectly grilled and seasoned, but the others were overcooked, so they were charred and dry. For that amount of meat, rice, and a few pieces of onions, 1 grilled tomato, the price is outrageous. The skewer platter came with 3 skewers, rice, some onions, and a grilled tomato. The skewers platter was the best thing that we ordered. All of the skewers were tender and well seasoned. Another pro about this restaurant is their homemade hot sauce. Spicy, tangy, slightly sour, delicious. We added it to everything to give the entrees some flavor. The server did not come back to check on us. Our water was not refilled, and when we were ready to pay, we had to go to the front of the restaurant since we were not getting any service. read more

For 2 bits of beef chunks and for a whopping $18, this was the real belly laugh travesty to behold. LOL!!!!! *** They try to make up for portion sizes by adding more salad and bread (of course, the cheaper stuff). *** I love how they try to entice you with a 5% discount on online orders w/ pickup and a free dessert or salad with a minimum order of $50 or $100, but honestly getting either makes up for nothing. Before digging in, my mother asked me how did it taste and I answered I'm not sure because there wasn't enough for me to even get an idea! HA!!!! The only redeeming quality is that they cooked their meats well, especially the koobideh and the kotlet. The joojeh was OK, but a little overcooked. Stopped in on my way to the airport for a quick bite. The owner sat me and was extremely friendly and prompt. Ended up getting the Khoresht-e Gheymeh. I typically hesitate ordering this as most of the Persian restaurants in my area make it with too much tomato paste, but I'm glad I did as it was absolutely INCREDIBLE! So rich and deep with layers of flavor. The yellow split peas were cooked perfectly and had a nice bite. I opted to save some for my flight and even enjoyed this several hours later when it was cold - still delicious! As Persians do, you must get the chai to go along with your meal. It came with bread and some yogurt to dip in. The ambience reminds me of an old Persian restaurant my parents took me to go growing up - very clean and a flare of Persian. Even the marquee of photos from cities and sites in Iran invoked such fond memories. I will absolutely be coming back here when I'm in Raleigh next. read more

We loved this little place for lunch today! Our servers were VERY friendly, and eager to make sure we were happy. We were! Our hummus came with a boatload of fresh tandoori bread. It was the shape of pita, but tasted a bit more like naan, and it was nicely charred. There was enough that we took some home for a snack later. My spicy, but not-too-spicy, single chicken koobideh platter, and my friend's double platter, came with so much delicious lentil rice that I took some of that home, too. The chicken was very well cooked and wonderful. The price was right at $10.99 for the single. It's tiny, and doesn't appear to be marked for social distancing, but the few people who were eating in were placed far apart. They also have a nice front patio with several tables. Menus are on the tables, under glass, so they're touch-free, and servers are wearing masks. The bread came to the table covered, and the hummus was in a take-out container. Not the prettiest presentation, but we appreciated the effort to keep everything clean and as touch free as possible. This would be the perfect place for a nice dinner, too. Dinner with friends at one of their favorite restaurants. Now we know why. Set in an upscale strip mall, just north of RDU. Family run Persian food that is not of this world. Everyone was gracious and welcoming. Excellent service. It takes 30 minutes to read the menu, so I recommend a doogh and an appetizer while you drool over the options. No alcohol, if that's important to you. There were so many "have to try this" dishes. The specialty stews take up a whole page on the menu. Every one of them was enticing. The lamb shank is cooked low and slow in a savory sauce that is so rich you have to pause after each taste and give thanks. Touch the meat and it slides on your fork. Probably the first time ever I forgot to take a picture before I started eating, sorry! The plates looked sooo good I wasn't even thinking. They're still open for dine-in during COVID and everyone is wearing a mask. They have complimentary tea which they bring to you and the inside is small but cute. There is outside seating as well! For four people we got two sampler plates, which was more than enough food! Our first plate was beef, chicken, and lamb. The second one was beef, chicken, and steak. I thought the beef (koobideh) was extremely delicious and the best one. Second place would be chicken. I enjoyed the lamb as well, but I thought the steak was a little too tough. It came with lentil rice (you can choose white too), tomatoes, onions, tandoori bread, and yogurt sauce. The portions were very big too! Everything was amazing. For dessert we decided to try the Napoleon, which was a puff pastry with creme. It was super fluffy and tasty. My parents have been talking about this place for so long I'm glad I got to try!!
