I won't be returning. Tough food. Long delays. Slow service. Unexpected fees. I was just going to give it two stars (i.e. "Could've been better") but then I remembered that they charge a 15% mandatory gratuity for dine-in customers. I've never had that happen before. I've seen that for groups, sure, and the receipt will usually tell you that, but here it's just if you dine-in. It does say it in the menu, but since when is the menu like a contract, where you have to read the whole thing to hopefullly spot a weird tax that they want to stick you with? Water ... we had a group of 10 people and they only brought out two carafes of water. They were probably about 1.5 liters, and they emptied fast and were only refilled once during the meal. And water was sorely needed here, as the food really was quite dry. Service was poor. We were rarely checked on. Since we had a party of 10, we called in our orders over and hour before we arrived. We got there on time and did not get our food until we had been there for 50 minutes! And when we got there, there were maybe 8 other customer in the store, if that. So it's not like they were busy. I ordered the lamb kebab, and it did feel a little over-priced, but not too bad. The lamb was a little tough, which was disappointing. Probably a little overcooked. We did get a few triangles of bland flatbread before the meal. It had a "lamb sauce" with it, or you could choose yogurt. The lamb sauce was really needed because the bread was dry and really needed flavor. Nothing like good Indian Naan bread. I'm glad I ate the bread right away, because of how long it took to get our entrees. And there was no reason to save it because its dryness would have not contributed to the entree, that already had a ton of dry, bland basmati rice. I put a little butter in the basmati I make at home. Maybe I'm just spoiled. The rice, as I mentioned, was plentiful, and I normally really like to indulge in some good nutty basmati. But this just was void of flavor. It would have been fine if it were paired with a sauced entree on the opposite side of the plate. Some other friends got the lentil rice, and maybe that had more flavor. I tried my friend's beef tenderloin kebab, and I'm glad I didn't pay extra for that! It was tougher than the lamb. Now, for both the lamb and the tenderloin, the taste was good. But when you're chewing it forever, you just start to lose interest. While you do get a lot of rice, you really don't get much other food. I left still feeling hungry. Oh, and the toilet paper is about the thinnest/cheapest I've ever seen. Who should go here? Maybe locals who have food restrictions and don't want to travel too far for this kind of cooking. But I would look on yelp or google maps to try to find other middle-eastern eats in the area to try first or as well. read more

My favorite dish here is the khoresh e geymeh bademjaan. It is an eggplant beef stew which pairs well with the soft basmati rice. I come here for it at least every 2 months. They also sell it frozen so it makes for a great take home meal. My husband is a big fan of the lamb chops. I also love the Persian ice cream with saffron and rosewater - unique flavors that you won't find in a grocery store. One thing to keep in mind is that dinner is often busy and the servers don't always have designated tables. It is typically a bit loud since the restaurant is small and the tables are close together. In my experience, we have always been seated promptly, though sometimes you need to flag someone down to ask for something. Many of the people who dine in are regulars. Also, the hot black tea is included with the meal and is self-service at the front of the store. Don't expect the typical "Hi, have you been here before? Welcome to our restaurant. Let me explain the menu." They work a bit more efficiently but nonetheless the servers are all polite and open to answering questions. It's a very mom-and-pop feel and the owners are very involved in customer care. The food and decor feels authentic. read more

You will have the most variety, from Barreh to Barg, to Kubideh, to Shaslik, to Juje, all of these were cooked to my satisfaction and were authentic in flavor and on delivery order all the way to my home in Raleigh they were perfectly preserved in warmth - MashaAllah MashaAllah! Now, I just want to know their secret! What crazy trickery did they use that I couldn't even apply Sumac from my home to their kabobs... their kebab was too good that I finished it before I could even get to the Sumac - imagine this, right now the entire Middle East is standing still frozen in time as I said this. On a real serious note, this is truly my favourite establishment for kabobs in Raleigh and they even had me at Ghormeh Sabzi ! The entrees are similar for sides but the chicken is made differently with the Chicken Breast Kabob are individual cubes of chicken prepared with a yogurt and lemon taste while the Koobideh Kabob is ground chicken served in 1 long piece with a very good and spicy flavoring. I got the wrong order and food came cold and the service was not it that day and i came when they were not even busy, the waitress had a attitude when I asked her a simple question "is it possible to get a thicker yogurt drink" bc the yogurt drink taste like literal water, mind you I'm Arab, and I know how the yogurt drink is supposed to taste and that was definitely the worst way possible to make it. First time eating from Flame Kabob - I've seen it plenty of times because it's next door to the Mexican Restaurant, San Jose. Decided to give this place a try because of all the carry out traffic. I ordered the spicy chicken breast kabob (double) which came with rice, Tandoori bread, and a yogurt dip ($14.99 plus tax). The portions are huge! I had enough for lunch the next day. Next time, I'm definitely ordering the single! So I actually went in and ordered versus calling my order in. This place makes EVERYTHING fresh, so therefore, I had a 25 minute wait. This would have been five stars, except there was a super confusing 15% administrative fee tacked on for in-restaurant dining. I thought it was just an included tip (great!), but the staff clarified it was NOT a tip, that it went "mostly to the waitstaff," and "tipping is always optional." What? So do I count it as part of my 20% tip or not? Am i tipping a full 20% on top of the fee or not? It was so confusing. Amazing Iranian food and the one of the best Kabob places in the Triangle. I think this might be one of the only Persian places in the area, but definitely the best. The kabob is always juicy and mouth watering, and rice is always plentiful. Fresh bread and yogurt are always great to snack on while you wait for your food. I usually get the beef koobideh and chicken pieces kabob, with double rice, if I'm not feeling a salad. This time I opted to get the bread instead of rice, which was great with the kabob. I think the price is definitely worth the food. My only complaint would be there's definitely no privacy and all of the tables are right next to each other. This time we went we were seated right in front of the door, and everything someone opened the door we practically froze since it was really cold that night. I enjoyed eating the chicken with the tomatoes, onions and the lentil rice. The other side option is a salad, in case you aren't a fan of the lentil rice. If you want to eat there, the restaurant itself is small, but there is a good amount of seating outside. All the kabobs here are fantastic, the best we've had in the Triangle. Whether it's chicken, lamb or steak, ground meat or chunks, the meat is tender, juicy and flavorful. The portions are a good size with plenty of rice, some grilled tomatoes, onions and a side of yogurt. The hummus and eggplant are both really delicious and the bread is soft and flavorful. This family owned restaurant has delicious food and such a great atmosphere. The kebabs were tender and juicy with the right amount of spice. I had the double Koobideh kebabs - chicken and beef. The chicken is not too spicy and well seasoned. The beef was also well seasoned and well cooked. I am excited to try other kebabs. The lentil rice is sooooo delicious! Would highly recommend that people check it out. They also had spicy sauce if you wanted a bit of kick to your food but the food is just as delicious without any sauce. Everyone is so sweet at the restaurant. Not the fastest service but the atmosphere is also not a quick take out restaurant. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend to others. read more

The owners are getting 15% every time you dine in, stealing from both the employees and the customers. This is wrong. Bonus is that the Spanish waitress speaks a lot of Persian food language with great pronunciation and the Owner/Manager or owners son? Is very attentive with a great friendly hospitable personality. I loved going here. First of all, the staff members are so, so nice, welcoming and accommodating. They greet you as if they've known you forever. We were seated outside and it started raining and they immediately helped us to relocate. The tea they serve is soooo yummy. The food is delicious. The restaurant is in a great location and has the feel of an intimate family place. They serve all the classic kabob options (kubideh, chicken joojeh, etc) as well classic Persian dishes.
