half roasted duck
Karen T.

Went here on a Thursday night and was seated right away. It's a decently sized restaurant with nice decor. I ordered the garlic pork belly, half roasted duck, and fried rice. The pork belly was a bit tough, but I really liked the chili oil it came in. The roasted duck was tender but not super flavorful in my opinion. I also expected the portion to be larger. I still enjoyed it but expected a bit more. The fried rice we order took awhile to arrive. We were pretty much done with the other two dishes by the time it arrived. Regardless, it was pretty good, so it was worth the wait. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would come back to try other items on the menu.

Beautiful fancy Chinese restaurant. Everything was delicious! The service was top notch. Food was so good. Only thing is that this place is expensive. They bring out these tiny dried napkins. When they pour water on them they grow and expand. Very cool. Excellent dining experience. HAPPY CHINESEING!

I was lured here by their $9.90 grand opening specials, where you can choose up to two of their four dishes - a fantastic deal! Yueyan is the rebranding of Jiang Nan, a NY Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant. They may have changed ownership, but much of the menu remains the same. The restaurant has an upscale decor, with prices reflecting an elevated dining experience. We ordered the seafood fried rice and mapo tofu. Both were delicious - the fried rice had a lot of seafood and the mapo tofu had that numbing effect from the Sichuan peppercorns. We also got some pork soup dumplings, which were good (the sauce it came with was sweet, which was a little strange) and beef chow mein. Service was very attentive. I wish the grand opening special prices were permanent because I would come here regularly!

Saw this new restaurant and decided to try it because of their grand opening specials. Their $9.90 specials are such a great deal! It's limit 2 per table and you can combine it with their other multi-person set menus. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. The service was attentive. The fried rice looked disappointing when it arrived but actually tasted great. We'd order it again next time! The pork belly and cucumber cold dish was very delicious and had a nice flavor. The greens were too tough. The boiled spicy fish was really good. Overall a yummy meal and I'd definitely come back next time I'm in the area. It's conveniently located next to 99 ranch market and Tesla chargers.

Delicious food with friendly staff They had a busy restaurant and lots of families in the dining area It was a festive and lively atmosphere Bathroom needs more attention regularly. It was a mess in both bathrooms. Cleanliness is important especially around food Overall it is still a good spot to bring people for a meal

We called in same day, to make reservations for our large group, and they were able to accommodate. Servers were on top of it. Very friendly service. Easy to use tablets to order food, at each table were helpful too. Ordered string beans, braised eggplant, and mapo tofu without pork. The string beans were so flavorful, and well cooked. The braised eggplant was as expected, good with rice. The mapo tofu had an interesting fruity taste, per the spices used.

A great new spot in Irvine for family meals and gatherings. The private dining room was comfortable, service was attentive, and there was plenty of parking, which is a huge plus. We ordered one of their combo sets and a few $9.9 specials, and everything was fresh and generously portioned. The vine pepper fish was tender, the white chicken was juicy, and the overall value was impressive. We'll definitely be back with family and friends.

Great Chinese food spot! My favorites were the green beans, sweet and sour pork, and the honey walnut shrimp. The green beans were super flavorful with a nice bite to them. The sweet and sour pork was crunchy and sweet without being overly sweet, and I'd say it's pretty similar to orange chicken. The honey walnut shrimp was another standout. The shrimp were huge and had a really nice batter to them. Overall, all the dishes we ordered were solid. It is on the pricier side, though. We went on a Sunday night and ordered a couple of beers, which happened to be buy one get one free. I'm not sure if that deal is tied to a specific time or day, but our server mentioned it. The service was great and everyone was very friendly. If you're planning to make a reservation, it's best to give them a call!

This Chinese restaurant was so good! The Dongpo Pork was definitely my favorite--super tender with the perfect balance of lean meat and fat. The sauce was incredibly rich and flavorful, and it was amazing with rice. I ended up eating way more than I planned because everything was just that good. Definitely coming back!

Jiang Nan is a new family favorite for Chinese food in the Irvine area! They call themselves fusion but I find it to be quite authentic. The vibe is more modern than an old school Chinese restaurant. They can get pretty busy so reserve a table ahead of time if you have a large party. There are a ton of tables on both sides of the restaurant but they do tend to get quite busy, especially during Asian holidays. Some stand outs are the steamed whole fish and my personal favorite - fried tofu with seafood - which comes with a mini table side show! I also really love the fish maw chicken soup bc the kabocha squash makes it a little sweet and really creamy. The peach gum dessert is also delicious. I never had it before dining here and now we have to get it every time we visit! Perfectly not too sweet and the texture is really fun. The servers are really kind, patient, and truly want you to enjoy your meal. It can be a little slow during busy times. Jiang Nan took over the old Sam Woo in the plaza across from the Arbor. Lots of parking spots but any native Irvine-ian knows how terribly tight the lot can get with all of the competing restaurants and 99.

Beautiful! My mother-in-law remembered this place from when one of our best friends took her there..... great choice! The restaurant is where SW used to be until they shut down during Covid.... but the quality of the food, the service and ambiance erased the memories of 6 and more years ago. Tasteful presentation, nice chopsticks, plates, the works. I loved the flank steak but it's not for everybody, the fish was beautifully cooked and presented, seafood fried rice full of flavor, and those dumplings.... sumptuous. 10/10, highly recommended.

Came here on a Monday night and was seated right away, which was nice. The inside is nicely decorated and chairs are comfy. They started us off with some complimentary pickled vegetables that were actually really good and a great little appetizer while we figured out our order. ofc we had to get the Peking duck. It did take the longest to come out. It comes with 10 wrappers, which felt like a good amount. After we finished the duck, my dad asked about the duck frame and they gave it to us for free, which was a nice surprise because the menu lists it as an extra charge. In this case, they didn't do any additional fancy preparation, just packed the frame into a to-go box. We also tried the smoked ribs, and honestly that was the only letdown. It was pretty pricey for just four pieces, and only some of them were tender, so it didn't really feel worth it. My dad said the snow pea tips tasted old lol but i thought they tasted good. Service overall was good and very attentive throughout the meal and presentation of the food was very nice.

Hand-Made Pork Soup Dumplings
Kelly N.

We came for dinner on a Friday night and waited about 20 minutes for a table. The restaurant is fairly spacious and nicely decorated, creating a pleasant dining atmosphere. Service was decent throughout the meal. We ordered quite a few dishes to sample: Peking Duck (half), Duck Frame - Dual Option, Hand-Made Pork Soup Dumplings, Spicy Chicken Wontons, Stir-Fried String Beans, Dan Dan Noodles with Shredded Chicken (mild spicy), Deep-Fried Snapper with Pine Nuts in Sweet and Sour Sauce, and the Peach Gummy Dessert. The Peking duck was just okay -- while the skin was nicely crispy, the meat itself lacked flavor. The duck frame was well-seasoned but unfortunately had very little meat on it. Both the soup dumplings and spicy chicken wontons were disappointing. The dumpling wrappers were too thick with minimal soup inside, and the spicy chicken wontons were surprisingly bland. Our favorites of the night were the stir-fried string beans and the dan dan noodles -- both were packed with flavor and well-executed. The deep-fried snapper was crispy and nicely prepared. We ended the meal with the peach gummy dessert, which was light, refreshing, and a pleasant way to finish. Overall, while a few dishes stood out, some of the staples fell short of expectations.

We celebrated our anniversary last night at WG and the wonderful experiences just keep happening!…read more We were warmly greeted with a "happy anniversary' and had a personal touch at the table of a note card and flower petals. our server, Cara, was attentive and friendly. We never felt rushed, which is just what we wanted. Scott, the manager, came to our table when we had an issue with part of our order...he was gracious about taking care of the mistake. The food was delicious and the atmosphere inviting. We will continue to be a customer and also recommend WG for anyone looking for a night out

I remember going to this place a while ago, and loving their buttersquach gnocchi or something…read moreclose to that. The side came with the halibut. And it is one of the best sides, I ever had in my life. I even went to the LA Water Grill looking for it and it was not there. Recently, I was celebrating another precious birthday dinner (a little delayed by 7 days but still counts) and decided to go here, last minute. My friend and I had reservations at another restaurant across the street in the mall. But, I wanted to be a little bit more hungry, so we decided to walk around and then cross the street to find our place in Water Grill. So we crossed the bridge that connects the mall to the other side where the Water Grill lies and with the heatwave we are enduring as Californians, the walk felt like a trek through Arizona streets. I have never been to Arizona. But now I do not have to, apparently. I had called the joint before but they told me they were absolutely book for the night. I have lived long enough to know that place in a crowded restaurant is sometimes a matter of finding a crevice to call one's own. But a crevice is sometimes found only through efforts. The staff was prepared to show us options, one of two bars, and seating in other areas of ther expansive restaurant. I think there were three options and all of these were in the avaiable areas. They did not try to find me a table in their main dining rooms, which is fine. I did enter as a peasant looking for stale bread. Ronnie, my friend, did not want to sit anywhere where the heat was abundant, but luckly on our trek through the bar we found a group departing. Those seats were for us. People were barely getting up. I was almost the tazmanian devil, but contained, I did not want to lose these seats which meant for us, to another person who needed those sits. I am not sure why but I was acting like a bridemaids during a clearence sale for her best-friend's desired gown. I wonder if this happens in real life or I am imagining a scene from a movie that made women savages when it came to low priced clothes? The stools had food rests. My feet did not hang. A significant plus! The crevice had been found, and, like mice who had found their cheese, we were ready to split food and giggle like rats as we did! It was a superb meal! Like, a holiday was had in the moment. Once I found the halibut with the gnocchi my made was made up. Nothing else would due but what I had waited for and found anew. Since the LA shop did not have it, I feared that this place would not as well. We also ordered brussels. Roonie ordered their sirloin and their chimichurri. At one point, I combined the gnocchi, with the halibut, and smeared the chimi, and ate it in one mouthful and the proceeding pow was a blast from the present to the taste buds. The Delorian arrived and parked in my tongue, is what I am trying to say. Our server was Diana. And I thought that she would be more familiar with the fact that Diana was the real name of Wonder Woman. So I am making some lame dad jokes, even though I have not fathered any children, about Amazon and Thymescara. And she politely nodded but later found out that she was not connecting my jokes. But I guess dad jokes can be like that. She was also really kind of cool as a server. For instance, Ronnie wanted to enjoy mac and cheese. I ordered but then I walked and saw their beautiful ears of corn and wanted some. Ben eut we were informed that we had enough food and the corns probably would not be needed. Diana accomodated the request of swapping the mac for the corn. I wanted no chili. Then corn on the cob came with chili. She said that she had put in the order. And then a second order of corn came without chili. Ronnie, being the pure angel she is, was like Do you need the chili corn back? And I was like, now we licked it. Simply because I feel that the restaurant would be tacky to deliver a wrong side and then ask for it back. Like for the prices you all be charging, they can let us absorb the cost of their mistake. Both ears of corn were left. The real kiss on my birthday from the universe was that I was allowed to have an entire side of the gnocchi for 16 dollars. It came. Now there was enough for Ronnie to share. I will admit that before a gurantee of more gnocchi I was wondering if they could share. We also got a tri-flavored cookie with ice cream with a sea horse cookie with ice cream. It was great. Exceptional even. And the garlic on the brussels, I am glad I am not the king of the undead. So this place is a gem under the sea that I can visit from time to time. It is just not that close. But it is not the white whale, nor am I Ahab. I can go more often. And after yesterday's dinner, I do not see how I can not.

We had our little one in tow with us and they were so accommodating to him! As soon as we were ready, our server took our order. We got: Chowder "frots" (fries and tots mixed in with some New England clam chowder, bacon, onions, cheese, and other goodies) 10/10, would definitely order again. My wife got the lobster roll with a side of clam chowder. Loaded with lobster, but you do pay the price. Labeled as market price, this was almost $40. Delicious, but not worth it in our opinion. 6.5/10. Pan roast (house specialty which came with shredded crab, shrimp, clams, and muscles). This, topped with rice, was heavenly. Better than any pan roast I've had. Came out ripping hot as it should. My wife was envious of my dish. 10/10 From the kids menu we also ordered the chicken Alfredo. My kid loved it, but my wife and I both had a bite and wow, we would've ordered that for ourselves it was so good. 10/10. We can't wait to come back just for the food. On top of that, however, service was above and beyond. The servers and everyone in the restaurant were so accommodating to us and our child and made us feel so, so welcome. We would come back even if the food was bad, solely for the service we received. Vibes we great, decoration on the walls look like they hired an artist to paint it. We ordered 6 oysters of the day, the jambalaya, and the Dive Chowder. The oysters were fresh, cleaned properly, not fishy. It was sweet and juicy and paired really well with the green/red/horseradish sauce they gave us. I am typically not a fan of raw oysters, but these were acceptable and I would come again if I were craving oysters. The dive chowder was delicious, and they did not skimp on the clam. Each spoonful of chowder had at least 2 pieces of clam. It also came with 3-4 pieces of shrimp. The spice level ranged from no spice, mild, medium, spicy. We ordered medium spice, but it was not spicy at all. Just a small kick of spice. I will try spicy next time. The jambalaya was good, it came with shrimp, mussels, sausage. However, my boyfriend did not like it as much because it was too tomato-y for him, but I like tomatoes and it was homey. I do want to mention though that the flavor is rich and can become heavy after a few bites. Overall, they are generous with the portions. The salmon ceviche was really good but a bit heavy on the sauce for me. The clam chowder had whole clams in the shell throughout. That was fun to pick them out! For entrees we got the lean and mean plate with sea bass. It comes with salad and rice, we substituted the rice for black beans.
