So we sat down outside and enjoyed our beers and then I said let's go check out the food truck and see what they have. It was a super cool looking truck and chill af out back so we looked the menu over and spoke to the guy working about their food and he was super friendly and helpful to which I really enjoyed chatting with about local food establishments and breweries. I gave them a call and ordered the city fries and the pierogies. They told me that if they weren't there in 20 minutes to stop by. I walked down and it was super close, maybe a 2 minute walk. They had my food ready and I paid and brought it back to Love, Katie. Our fries were delicious and so were the pierogis. I would definitely come back to try more items. We ordered 2 sandwiches at 6:10 PM, the wait was a little longer than anticipated and was ready at 7:00 pm. It smelled mildly "fishy" but it is fish after all. First impression, it did not appear as advertised. It was missing the sauce and lettuce pictured on the website. I took three bites and unfortunately, the fish was hard. It seemed over cooked which may have contributed to the time it took to receive it. The grease also tasted old. The Mac on top was again, overcooked. The French fries were cooked well, but they had so much old bay seasoning and salt it was difficult to eat. I wish this were unique to my order, but I was dinning with three others, all ordering the same thing, and we all had the same complaints. I did request to speak with someone in the kitchen but they said they didn't have time as they were quite busy. The brewery was full and outside seating was also starting to fill so that is understandable. The bartender at strange roots had us write our names on a piece of paper and said the kitchen will refund the meals. I have been to the Frankuary restaurants before, both the original downtown under the church and then the one in Lawrenceville as well, so knew what to expect. The menu described the locavore as a local grass feed beef dog with the New York style as coming with sauerkraut, sweet onion sauce and brown mustard and then the poutine as hand cut fries with fresh brown gravy and cheese curds. As I mentioned before, the people working here were going through orders quite quickly and soon enough I had both of my items and headed home. Once there I started on the locavore. It was decent enough as the bun was solid and I enjoyed all of the toppings on my hot dog as well as the hot dog itself. What I couldn't get past with it though was the $7 it cost and how it would probably take 3 of them for a proper dinner for me. After I had finished with the hot dog I started in on the poutine. The fries here were quite good and the gravy added a nice flavor and wetness to the dish. It was the cheese curds which were my favorite part as I am sucker for them, and who doesn't love cheese? The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. While all of the food that I had was solid here, I still find it difficult to sometimes pay $7 for a hot dog.
