I moved from Vista to Kearny Mesa and would definitely use these guys again if I move (hope I don't have to but if I do I know who to call). I had 3 guys and a HUGE truck. They took the time to wrap all of my furniture in plastic wrap and blankets. They finished loading my old apartment in less than 2 hours, but my new apartment took a little longer due to having to use an elevator and walking a little distance to my apartment. The only reason I gave them 4 stars was for a scratch/groove on my dining room table that I didn't notice before my move. It's nothing terrible but it is noticeable. We used this company on our move from Temecula to Buckeye, Az. Unbelievable story. Hunter (owner) told us repeatedly that our belongings would fit in his 26' van. We were told there would be three guys on the pick up end and two on the delivery. First lie. Two guys arrived early (8:00) saying that it was no problem and they'd have us loaded in six hours. We scheduled our cleaning and plans around that time frame. They also asked if we would consider a same day unload, where they loaded, drove straight through and unloaded directly after. It sounded aggressive but we agreed. Seemed like lots of time to do this since they said six hours. After ten o'clock that night they finally finished.....with possessions still in the garage! We got a few hours sleep and drove to Buckeye early the next morning. The two movers were already unloading. I asked how they were going to get the remaining items here and they said they didn't know and that they didn't come to Arizona often. I texted Hunter to find out. He texted me the next day and said they could probably pick up the remaining things the next Saturday but didn't know when they'd be in Az. again. I said we needed to have the things picked up before Wednesday, as that was our final day of lease back and the new owners needed to move in. He didn't answer. We decided to drive back the following morning, rent a U Haul, pick up the left behind things and decide which ones were the most valuable to us and move back ourselves. We had no other options. Our costs for gas and rental came to $250. and we asked Hunter to pay that small amount. His comment was "I didn't authorize that expense!" After repeated attempts to settle this issue, Hunter will not respond. And we keep finding damage, which he has also ignored. My wife and I are in our 60's and 70's so this move has been very difficult. We thought we were doing him a favor by only asking for actual cost reimbursement. We didn't even ask to have our time compensated, an issue he would have had to pay if he'd of picked up and delivered! Do not use this company unless you expect to move things left behind! read more

I found additional damage yesterday. Our $5000.00 king size bed has a rip on the underside of the mattress, directly below and attached to a handle sewn into the mattress. It is 4- 5 inches wide. It was not visible before because this mattress is covered with plastic wrap and the plastic mattress bag that I purchased to put the mattress in. Just the newest find in our furniture after being moved by these movers. Today, my husband reached out to Hunter via phone to ask his intentions for replacing our pool table cover. No surprise,after my husband, Brian, reminded him that his insurance told him that they would not cover this damage, Hunter proceeded to continue to give Brian the run-a-round about waiting for his insurance. I tried to speak to him about the other damages, and that he never responded to my last email, and he was rude by not letting me speak, and talking over me. Yes, I was then raising my voice- just because someone repeatedly calls you"ma'am" DOES NOT mean that they are being courteous or actually listening. There is no intent on this owner to resolve this and we plan to file a claim in court when that is possible. read more

Dave, Mike, and Mikey were on time, professional, and super helpful as I was 7 months pregnant on my moving day. They got everything moved in and furniture put together in a timely fashion. They were honest with me when they noticed a couple vases had broke in the transport of the Pod to my new home. We were moving out of a single story 3 bedroom home but had lots of outdoor things - and a garage full to move to our new 2-story home. It took two truckloads and we still had things from another location to move in as well. They kept going until it was all done. It was a looooong day, however totally worth it. These guys are awesome. Hunter responded to me within minutes of my email. He was able to move into a cancelled spot and we got in just before the big rain. Hunter came out to the house to asses what the guys would be doing the day before. I requested 4 guys and Hunter said three guys would probably be more efficient. Just think, a company recommending a lower cost per hour with three guys...... The guys showed up on time and ready to go the day of the move. It was a very long day, at not fault to them. We had a ton of items in different locations. No worries, was there attitude and they stayed until we were done. No complaints whatsoever from the team. I would definitely recommend these guys. I am so glad that I called Your Local Movers when we moved from Temecula to San Diego. At first, I wasn't sure if they would consider us local because we were not located in San Diego, but when the owner (Hunter) returned my call he assured me that they are able to move us. In fact, he told me they do moves all over California. That being said, I asked for the rates and what was included in the price and found the rates to be very reasonable. He was also able to schedule our move on the day and time I needed it. Even when I had to change the date unexpectedly, he was still able to accommodate us. Before our move whenever I had a question, Hunter always got back to me with the answer. He even confirmed our moving time the day before. On our moving day, Hunter showed up on time with David. Because we had some items to put in storage at our new apartment complex, I was able to discuss with them and go over what was going into our apartment and what was going into our storage. Everything went smoothly and things were moved to my apartment and storage in the time estimated it would take to move us. Hunter and Dakota were very professional and easy to work with throughout the entire process. When I first called I got a response back very quickly. The price was also very reasonable compared to other moving companies in the area. They came right on time to help us move a very heavy dresser and couch. These didn't fit through the front doors and due to how the stairs are setup they had to lift the couch through the 2nd floor balcony. We were very impressed with their ability to find ways to get the heavy furniture into the house no matter the difficulty. They also did it with a great attitude throughout. My fiancé and I hired Your Local Movers in April, 2018 for our cross country move from Orange County, CA to Colorado Springs, CO. We were very pleased with the personal nature of the communications and Hunter's kind personality. BUT. Prior to our moving day, I did everything I could to explain to their team the amount of belongings we had (a 2B condo and a storage unit, plus an art studio that contained almost as much), and they repeatedly assured me that despite my trepidation about it all fitting in their truck, they were confident it would, and that there was no need for them to stop by in person to evaluate the space needs/constraints as I suggested. Unfortunately, I let them persuade me! When moving day came, the truck arrived, and I immediately said that I did not believe everything would fit (I am a visual person. Spatial reasoning is how I make my living). They assured me they were professionals, and it would fit. So we packed the storage unit and the condo. My fiancé had to leave to catch his flight to Colorado for his new job, and I was left to meet the movers at my art studio to pack those items on my own. Low and behold, once we were beyond the point of no return with the truck 75% packed, the contents of the studio did not fit. Not. Even. Close. After watching them try to tie my $1500 90lb easel on top of a mountain of similarly jerry-rigged furniture, I decided to take half the supplies and furniture in and on my little Subaru. Even after offloading a few dozen cubic feet of stuff, we were not even close to everything fitting in their truck. They closed the door with about 1mm to spare behind my easel and the rest of the items. The result? I had to leave over $1000 worth of studio furnishings behind in the parking lot, as I had to get on the road that evening and the move was already running several hours late. I did not get to sell them, or in any way recoup the cost. As I drove away looking at my handmade furniture and custom storage racks and taborets and favorite bookshelf in the rear view mirror, all I could do was add another couple thousand dollars to my replacement budget (on top of our $7000 move), and hope some deserving person would come claim them from their parking lot graveyard. When we arrived in Colorado, they unpacked the truck, and we discovered many incidences of damage to our furniture. Big, deep scratches through the wood or on surfaces I had requested to have blanket-wrapped, but which had only been shrink-wrapped, plus display shelves smashed to bits, bench supports broken, legs stressed beyond what the screws could hold and stripped through the hardware holes. Part of this company's sales pitch is that they are "fully insured against any damages" but apparently, if you actually have damage or have to leave half your stuff in a parking lot, it's pretty much impossible to get any insurance reimbursement. Hunter eventually tried to make things right by writing us a $300 check, which we appreciated...but which also didn't come close to making up for what we lost. Long story short, I think this company is a good small business to support for in-town moves with limited belongings, but I would not recommend them for cross-country. You should be prepared to supervise the way they pack and tie your possessions. Do not fall for the "we're professionals" line...if it looks unstable and risky, it's probably unstable and risky. Trust your gut!! read more

I contacted Your Local Movers at 10pm on Tuesday for a move on Thursday (totally last minute) and within 10 minutes Hunter replied and gave me a quote. I texted that I wanted to book and Hunter called immediately to give me all the info I needed for my move. The next day he texted to confirm the start time on move day. Hunter, Colin, and Zach all showed up on time and started wrapping and moving stuff right away. We had a bunch of handmade furniture and mirrored pieces and everything was moved without any damage at all. High quality service and super hard working guys!
