This is one of the original yogurt spots before the craze blew up and died down. The popularity of this place is why it is still running after all these years. Self serve, good selection of various flavors that change up I think weekly. They used to do discounts for students, I'm not sure if they still do. But this is by far the best hugger place in the zip code if not the county read more

I've been going here for years and if you're craving frozen yogurt this place definitely does the job. It's not particularly unique or way better than other places, but the staff is nice and I think for a little family owned shop it's deserving of a visit. The store is always clean and the flavors change every day, plus there's a pretty good selection of toppings. The frozen yogurt itself is always delicious and since it's self serve you can really do whatever you want with it. read more

PHENOMENAL! Flavors are fresh daily and different then any other place. Prices? Wow, worth every dollar- they're also better and also cheaper. Highly recommended to stop by this summer also if there's a different option that's more convenient to commute to. Thumbs up! read more

With the revolving door of frozen yogurt houses in these recent years, I can truly see how Yogurt Express has endured since the dinosaur's roamed the earth. Put it on your list as one of the "East County Gems." I have been coming here since I was about 10 and it never gets old pulling the old trustworthy frequent buyer card out for a good stamping. Ahh, that much closer to a free yogurt! The flavors are awesome- Angel Food Cake is one the the favs, it's cheap cheap cheap, and the people behind the counter are super friendly AND you get a student discount. Bliss. read more

Always one of the best places for a nice cold treat. I have been coming here for years and now my girls get to enjoy all the different flavor. This do it yourself desert bar is perfect. Weather you want simple and straight or complex layers of toppings stop here! read more

i remember when this place still had the "express" theme, with paintings of trains hanging on the walls & railroad track wallpaper. oh those were the days! my babysitter, sister, & i used to walk here once a week, every week without fail. i have been a customer of theirs since i was like 8. their prices are unbeatable (25% student discount) & the topping choices are endless. they don't get new flavors much but i usually opt for the chocolate & peanut butter combo. i choose this place over yogurt mill or golden spoon anyday. read more

Pros: -Self service -Unlimited toppings -Low prices -Always packed with ladies Cons: -The yogurt isn't fantastic -Limited flavors -No atmosphere -Limited seating First, go next door and get a few huge slices of pizza for cheap. Then come here and top off your tank with more yogurt and toppings than you can handle. Dinner & dessert for under $7. read more

I used to really like this place until I noticed how rude the woman owner of this store is. She yelled at a child for making a mess of the toppings on the side. What child doesn't make a mess? The parents were shocked and I found this rather rude. They left and so would I. We thought maybe she was just having a bad day and once again the dark haired owner was rude to another child. The child licked the top of his ice cream and the woman bent down to the child's level and told the child he was being bad and to give his yogurt to his parents if he couldn't control himself. Once again the parents were shocked and the woman said you don't have to get yogurt from here. The prices are good but the service and attitudes are horrible. read more

Been coming here for a year now and finally decided to leave a review. Since the Fro-Yo is good, the flavors are varied and reasonably priced and the toppings abundant, I find myself wanting to return. Now on to the bad: the staff. I was "helped" by a heavy young lady with a tattooed chest who would not get out of her phone to ring me up, I'm sorry I'm trying to give you some business? After waiting for her to finish talking to her friend, she gave me an attitude when I asked about the prices. Then a large-set male with a beard out of "Duck Dynasty" came out of the back and helped himself of some toppings on his way to the register, freaking gross! I don't think I'll be back, too bad because the frozen yogurt is great. read more

Their product is good. No denying it -self-serve, inexpensive and fast. But my family and I have chosen not to go to Yogurt Express anymore because of the poor service and poor attitudes of the staff. The last couple of trips have been marred by unkind faces and deliberate unresponsiveness by persons working there. We understand that they're a busy bunch with a constant flow of customers but that doesn't warrant unprofessional treatment. Left with a bad taste in our mouths, it's tough to enjoy the yogurt. There are many yogurt places in La Mesa to enjoy minus the attitude. read more

10/10 the best yogurt place around. Blows any place out of the water. Found this spot and refuse to go anywhere else again. Highly recommend

Some of the best do it yourself yogurt located right on Lake Murray. I have been coming to this places for years and there has never been a bad flavor nor have I ever been disappointed with my yogurt. At 40 cents an ounce, this place is also one of the cheaper options for frozen yogurt. They change their options daily, so i would definitely recommend calling ahead or checking out their Facebook (yogurtexpress619) or instagram before so you know what flavors they have. I ended up getting their kahlua coffee yogurt and white chocolate cheesecake topped with Reese's peanut butter sauce and butterfinger and it was amazing! There was a strong flavor of coffee that paired very well with the white chocolate cheesecake which didnt have too strong of a flavor. The toppings here are endless but somehow i always end up getting butterfinger and the Reese's peanut butter sauce because it goes with any flavor yogurt they have. The store also does punch cards where if you buy 8 yogurts you get $2 off your next one. I have used this offer a couple times and if my yogurt is anywhere around $2 they give it to me for free and do not make you pay the difference. The owner is always working and she is the sweetest lady! She always makes conversation with you and is a fun and sweet person to talk to. Highly recommend yogurt express! read more

There was absolutely NO place to sit. I don't mean because it was crowded, I mean because they have NO furniture inside or out. Lady sitting at counter ignored us. Maybe great yogurt and ice cream but no furniture? Really? read more

There is no place cheaper to get yogurt. The kids love it as they can get exactly what they want. It is nice for me too as they get so little it hardly costs anything. The taste is good and for the price you can't complain. read more

When I saw that this was one of those pay by the ounce places, I thought "Oh no, this is gonna be pricey." See, I've been wronged by other yogurt and gelato joints in the past. After serving myself several samples, I picked the sugar-free chocolate and tentatively filled my cup. Then I hit the toppings. So many choices! "This is where they are gonna really get me!" I though suspiciously. Still, I filled cup with cookie dough, crushed oreos, caramel cups, and reese peanut butter cups. To my shock and amazement, this concoction only cost me $1.70! If I was still a student, I would have gotten another 25% off! I was in school long enough to know that that's damn cheap! The only place that you can find a cheaper deal is Rite Aid with their .99 cones, but that's without any toppings. So stop on by and load up on toppings. read more

let's keep it plain and simple for the college folks tasty yogurt + slave labor prices = win for all toppings to fill your heart's desires employees who don't really care about what you're doing, including how many sample cups you use $1.50 amount of yogurt for ever $3.50 cup you would spend at yogurtland i'm sensing a one-man-starter clap coming on read more

Cold and creamy. Place has been here for ever. They have the basics and the mix in. Gotta love oreo mix in - in the cake batter flavor. OOOOOOH Yummy read more

BEST PLACE EVER!!!!!!!!! Taste then make your own yogurt creation. They even have sugar free flavors that taste fantastic. They accept competitor's coupons so you can get a tasty treat for just a little bit of moolah. read more

I love Yogurt Express! I had always noticed it, driving to and from the gym, and how busy it was whenever. My friends and I decided to try it one December night, and it was fabulous! They have the flavors for the week up on a white board, each flavor with it's own colorful picture, and it is self serve. The most I have piled on has never added up to be more than the smallest Cold Stone. Now I go to Yogurt Express, or YE as I refer to it, about once a week. My friends and I go every Monday after class. But a lot of times, I'll check the online calendar for flavors to see when they have something that I absolutely need and I'll go then, too! If you haven't tried YE, you're missing out! read more

Always delicious. Flavors are spot on. Open till 11pm! Owner is very friendly Great location.

Per previous reviews, dont expect the exotic flavors or toppings. Interior is "vanilla" and no seating inside makes for a undesirable dessert spot. However, you'll get past all the above once you weight out the yogurt! Great value. read more

Jackie is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. She's there most of the time and is always personable and fun to talk to! The yogurt there is always excellent and the different flavors and toppings are so delicious. This will be your favorite place to go for frozen yogurt. read more

This place is average, liked all the flavors they have and how late they close. They can upgrade the set up and having fresh fruit.

Best tasting yogurt in San Diego at a reasonable price. They change the flavors often and you can even look online to see which flavors they have on certain days. read more

Ghirardelli chocolate, with mini chocolate kisses sprinkles. Heavenly.

Definitely check this place out! Ive been going since I was in high school and now every time I come home for break I just have to go there! They don't have tart flavors but whatever. My two favorite are cookies and cream and butterfingers! Definitely go and try it! They give a student discount too! And its super cheap! read more

When I walked in, I noticed a sticker saying something like "yelpers love us" and now I can see why. This place gets 5 stars for the value and taste. No, the selection is not as good as Golden Spoon or Yogurtland but the few flavors they have are great, especially cake mix. I got a medium cup of cake mix and packed it with oreos and it cost less than three dollars, that is using a student ID to get the 25% discount. That is insanely cheap for so much yogurt. A usual cup from yogurtland will at least run you $5. The only downside to this place is that there is no where to sit and eat, so you'll probably be stuck eating it in your car. This is the perfect place to satisfy your late night sweet tooth and you can probably have enough loose change in your car to pay for it. read more

Yogurt Express is what i'd imagine our generations 60's ice cream parlour. On a saturday night, people are packed into the tiny shop to the point they are pouring out into the sidewalk area. The price is amazing (charge by weight) and if you have a student id, you an additional % off. It's self serve so you can add as much or as little as you want. I love when they change up the flavours for holidays (ie: Pumpkin spice for Halloween); I only wish they stayed open later ... read more

YX! YX! YX! yogurt express is awesome! i must say for someone who prefers ice cream over frozen yogurt...i love this place. i cant find anything bad about it. yea theres a line but it goes hella quick. things i love about YX!!!! -TOPPINGS GALORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cookie dough, sprinkles, brownies, hot fudge, all kinds of nuts, coconut, strawberries, graham cracker, caramel, oreo cookie, heath bar, chocolate chips and so much moooore. -its "do it yourself". you dont have people behind the counter putting topping on for you. -they have about 8 different flavors that switch every week. they will always have the standard chocolate and vanilla. but sometimes they have raspberry which is my personal fave (mix with brownies and its heaven in your mouth). they also have mint, angel food cake, peanut butter, strawberry, coffee, and other ones but chocolate, vanilla, and raspberry were my favorites. -its super cheap!!!!!! you pay by ounce. and i think they still do student discounts. ok just go to YOGURT EXPRESS okay!!!!!! ps. dont call it "FRO-YO"!!! PLEASE DONT CALL IT FRO-YO!!!! its my least favorite word!!!!!!! gosh. BUT YAAAAAAY FOR YOGURT EXPRESS!!!! read more

Great yogurt shop with a great selection of flavors. They don't get 5 stars because there aren't tables out front to sit on.

It's ok.. not very much selection to choose from and the yogurt wasn't as creamy as I expected it to be like yogurtlands.

CHEAP!! 23c/oz compared to Yogurt World's 38 or 39c/oz. No Asian flavors like tart though, just things like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, etc...it was pretty good though and had a thick consistency. Toppings are the usual and I was sad they didn't have mochi :( read more

I always love the locally owned place, and living in san carlos for the majority of my life, this place was hiut alot. They have multiple flavors, allow free samples and have great prices. Less than the competition. I enjoy the Godiva Chocolate, marshmellow, and most of the fruit flavors. My mom likes the lemon, and my roommate enjoys the peanut butter, caramel and chocolate. And said the sugar free are legit. I like that there is some nice eye candy here sometimes also. read more

This place is always packed. Super cheap and super good. They have rotating flavors, angel food cake is my favorite. Pay by weight and I think it's 23 cents per ounce. read more

This is our favorite yogurt place. It's clean and is opened late. Jackie, who is always there working is Awesome.

I'm quite honestly the biggest frozen yogurt aficionado this side of the Mississippi, and I can say without hesitation that this is the best fro yo spot in San Diego. Their flavors change almost daily, and even the sugar free stuff tastes amazing- it's never icy like at some other places. As a testament to how great this place is, I drive all the way from my home in downtown damn near daily to get my fix. As a huge added bonus, the service here is very friendly. read more

Fro-Yo! This place is your standard self-serve frozen yogurt joint with a row of toppings to choose from. The reason I love coming here is that it's cheap! Plus you get a student discount! read more

Best yogurt shop I've come across so far. All the flavors I've tried have all been good. Self-serve, so you can stuff your face if you want! Prices are good, yogurt is great, and staff is friendly! read more

Okay so while this place is cheap I was unimpressed with the topping selections and the yogurt flavor. I'm sure others will disagree with me but you all I wanted was a fruit topping that didn't come out of a can. If you live nearby and are interested then by all means try it. Personally, if I'm going to eat something it is going to be something I like and this place didn't really have anything that stood out to me. read more

I'm only giving 4 stars because of the daughter that occasionally works here. My God- she is so unpleasant. She never greets or thanks you for your purchase. I feel very unwelcome when she is there. The yogurt is delicious. The owner lady is great- everyone else is super friendly- it's just the daughter. Sorry. I speak the truth. It's self serve with tons of toppings to chose from. read more
