Some of the best do it yourself yogurt located right on Lake Murray. I have been coming to this places for years and there has never been a bad flavor nor have I ever been disappointed with my yogurt. At 40 cents an ounce, this place is also one of the cheaper options for frozen yogurt. They change their options daily, so i would definitely recommend calling ahead or checking out their Facebook (yogurtexpress619) or instagram before so you know what flavors they have. I ended up getting their kahlua coffee yogurt and white chocolate cheesecake topped with Reese's peanut butter sauce and butterfinger and it was amazing! There was a strong flavor of coffee that paired very well with the white chocolate cheesecake which didnt have too strong of a flavor. The toppings here are endless but somehow i always end up getting butterfinger and the Reese's peanut butter sauce because it goes with any flavor yogurt they have. The store also does punch cards where if you buy 8 yogurts you get $2 off your next one. I have used this offer a couple times and if my yogurt is anywhere around $2 they give it to me for free and do not make you pay the difference. Bottom-line, Yogurt Express is the least expensive yogurt shop in San Diego per ounce. I paid 1/3 the price here compared to Yogurt Cup. No other self-serve yogurt shop has as many low-cal options. Yes, there are only about 8 flavors total, and I gravitate toward the sugar free and Wow Cow anyway. Not so much a tart fan, which if I'm not mistake, they don't offer. 25% discount for students! Find that ID card, people! Only bummer for those not in ECo is the drive. Go on a run/ walk/ ride/ blade around Lake Murray beforehand to make the trip out - and consumption - worth it. read more

I'm usually a Yogurtland customer...but this place is so much better! I got the peanut butter cup frozen yogurt and it was AMAZING! Usually I hate peanut butter flavored frozen yogurt because it tastes fake, but this was delicious. They had a great variety of toppings - I noticed at the last minute there were more toppings on their counter plus hot fudge. The price was cheap - 29 cents an ounce and they have a punch card! Per previous reviews, dont expect the exotic flavors or toppings. Interior is "vanilla" and no seating inside makes for a undesirable dessert spot. However, you'll get past all the above once you weight out the yogurt! Great value. read more

With the revolving door of frozen yogurt houses in these recent years, I can truly see how Yogurt Express has endured since the dinosaur's roamed the earth. Put it on your list as one of the "East County Gems." I have been coming here since I was about 10 and it never gets old pulling the old trustworthy frequent buyer card out for a good stamping. i remember when this place still had the "express" theme, with paintings of trains hanging on the walls & railroad track wallpaper. oh those were the days! my babysitter, sister, & i used to walk here once a week, every week without fail. i have been a customer of theirs since i was like 8. their prices are unbeatable (25% student discount) & the topping choices are endless. they don't get new flavors much but i usually opt for the chocolate & peanut butter combo. i choose this place over yogurt mill or golden spoon anyday. read more

I used to really like this place until I noticed how rude the woman owner of this store is. She yelled at a child for making a mess of the toppings on the side. What child doesn't make a mess? The parents were shocked and I found this rather rude. They left and so would I. We thought maybe she was just having a bad day and once again the dark haired owner was rude to another child. The child licked the top of his ice cream and the woman bent down to the child's level and told the child he was being bad and to give his yogurt to his parents if he couldn't control himself. Been coming here for a year now and finally decided to leave a review. Since the Fro-Yo is good, the flavors are varied and reasonably priced and the toppings abundant, I find myself wanting to return. Now on to the bad: the staff. I was "helped" by a heavy young lady with a tattooed chest who would not get out of her phone to ring me up, I'm sorry I'm trying to give you some business? After waiting for her to finish talking to her friend, she gave me an attitude when I asked about the prices. Then a large-set male with a beard out of "Duck Dynasty" came out of the back and helped himself of some toppings on his way to the register, freaking gross! I don't think I'll be back, too bad because the frozen yogurt is great. read more

Their product is good. No denying it -self-serve, inexpensive and fast. But my family and I have chosen not to go to Yogurt Express anymore because of the poor service and poor attitudes of the staff. The last couple of trips have been marred by unkind faces and deliberate unresponsiveness by persons working there. We understand that they're a busy bunch with a constant flow of customers but that doesn't warrant unprofessional treatment. Left with a bad taste in our mouths, it's tough to enjoy the yogurt. When I saw that this was one of those pay by the ounce places, I thought "Oh no, this is gonna be pricey." See, I've been wronged by other yogurt and gelato joints in the past. After serving myself several samples, I picked the sugar-free chocolate and tentatively filled my cup. Then I hit the toppings. So many choices! "This is where they are gonna really get me!" I though suspiciously. Still, I filled cup with cookie dough, crushed oreos, caramel cups, and reese peanut butter cups. To my shock and amazement, this concoction only cost me $1.70! If I was still a student, I would have gotten another 25% off! I was in school long enough to know that that's damn cheap! The only place that you can find a cheaper deal is Rite Aid with their .99 cones, but that's without any toppings. So stop on by and load up on toppings. read more

I love Yogurt Express! I had always noticed it, driving to and from the gym, and how busy it was whenever. My friends and I decided to try it one December night, and it was fabulous! They have the flavors for the week up on a white board, each flavor with it's own colorful picture, and it is self serve. The most I have piled on has never added up to be more than the smallest Cold Stone. Now I go to Yogurt Express, or YE as I refer to it, about once a week. My friends and I go every Monday after class. But a lot of times, I'll check the online calendar for flavors to see when they have something that I absolutely need and I'll go then, too! Yogurt Express is what i'd imagine our generations 60's ice cream parlour. On a saturday night, people are packed into the tiny shop to the point they are pouring out into the sidewalk area. The price is amazing (charge by weight) and if you have a student id, you an additional % off. It's self serve so you can add as much or as little as you want. When I walked in, I noticed a sticker saying something like "yelpers love us" and now I can see why. This place gets 5 stars for the value and taste. No, the selection is not as good as Golden Spoon or Yogurtland but the few flavors they have are great, especially cake mix. I got a medium cup of cake mix and packed it with oreos and it cost less than three dollars, that is using a student ID to get the 25% discount. That is insanely cheap for so much yogurt. A usual cup from yogurtland will at least run you $5. The only downside to this place is that there is no where to sit and eat, so you'll probably be stuck eating it in your car. This is the perfect place to satisfy your late night sweet tooth and you can probably have enough loose change in your car to pay for it. read more

Great yogurt shop with a great selection of flavors. They don't get 5 stars because there aren't tables out front to sit on.

It's ok.. not very much selection to choose from and the yogurt wasn't as creamy as I expected it to be like yogurtlands.

CHEAP!! 23c/oz compared to Yogurt World's 38 or 39c/oz. No Asian flavors like tart though, just things like chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, etc...it was pretty good though and had a thick consistency. Toppings are the usual and I was sad they didn't have mochi :( read more

I always love the locally owned place, and living in san carlos for the majority of my life, this place was hiut alot. They have multiple flavors, allow free samples and have great prices. Less than the competition. I enjoy the Godiva Chocolate, marshmellow, and most of the fruit flavors. My mom likes the lemon, and my roommate enjoys the peanut butter, caramel and chocolate. And said the sugar free are legit. I like that there is some nice eye candy here sometimes also. read more
