Went 4/4/2025 in PM for waffle cone w coffee ice cream. Got stale cone and didn't notice until already in movie theater. Had to leave Movie theater and go back to ask why I got stale cone. She said she didn't have no more and gave me the waffle in a bowl. Didn't make a big deal since already at the movies but was annoyed that she thought it was okay to serve it. Was waiting in line with my daughter and she put her hand down on the counter and ended up cutting her finger on a chard of glass. So we left and went to the bathroom to clean it up and went back and noticed that there was tons of broken glass on the counter right next to all of the toppings. The employee said she came in today and all the glass was like that and they need to tell their manager. But instead of cleaning up tons of glass, they just put the toppings out & continued to serve. It breaks my heart to leave this review about a Cold Stone location. The Cold Stone in Grossmont WAS our family Cold Stone; we had been going for over 8 years. The reason for the 1 star was an employees attitude on Tuesday, October 25 @ 4:15. I would give her name but she refused to give it. Her attitude and customer service were abismal. It was a little crowded, but that is no excuse. My 6-year-old, was excited to order is chocolate covered waffle cone with fruity pebbles, and he was eager to try cotton candy ice cream for the first time. For his two add-ins/toppings he wanted gummy bears and fruity pebbles. He didn't know what fruity pebbles were called so when I asked him what toppings he wanted, he replied, "the one that's are in my cone...the one between the gummy bears and the marshmallows." The worker heard marshmallows and started to add them to his cotton candy ice cream. When I told her, "'no ma'am he doesn't want marshmallows, he wants fruity pebbles" that's when the problems started. The worker got an attitude and rudely said, "he said he wanted marshmallows!" I explained to her that he did not. He didn't know what fruity pebbles were called and was explaining to me what he wanted. Normally, we spend over $40 on a Cold Stone trip and this was a trip for my 8-year-olds birthday so it was going to be a lot more because more toppings and whatever else they wanted. Because if her attitude I told my wife we wouldn't get the ice cream from Cold Stone, we would spend our money at another location. My wife told the worker we were leaving and that she was not professional. The worker than said' "well I'm sick so I probably sound rude, but are you going to buy this or not." Side Note: The next issue we had with her is that she said she was sick but was preparing our food unmasked and without gloves. I have been a good prepared and I have not served food when I was sick, and at least she could have worn a mask so as ti not spread germs. My wife said no we would not purchase the ice cream due to the worker's attitude/lack of professionalism and now that she was sick. The worker said my wife could talk to her manager, but she refused to give her name. There is more but to wrap it up, my wife said she would take a photo so she could positively identify the worker to the manager. The worker gave my wife the bird and we got it on photo for her manager. I am not posting the photo here because it was only taken to identify here to her manager. The sun crept out of the clouds for five seconds yesterday. A fine opportunity to haul my thermal wearing butt to an ice cream shop! We searched for the closest ice cream shop... because the sun may disappear soon and you know...it's ice cream. Unpopular opinion but it is a crime to deprive the belly from ice cream. So we pulled up at this store and let me tell you, the best last minute decision we've made this weekend. I mean really, everyone I passed had an ice cream scoop where their head should be but when I entered the store and my eyes immediately landed on a cake being displayed, I actually considered cake (gasp!). And that's not all, they offer milkshakes, ice cream cookie sandwiches, sundaes etc. This was my non-vegan cheat day so naturally I was in heaven the minute I stepped into this shop! The staff were super friendly and patiently let me try various flavors. If I was going to cheat, I was going to cheat good! God, it was so hard to decide. I even tried their dairy free sorbet (old habits), and that raspberry sorbet- one word; mmmmmm I settled for their signature sweet cream ice cream with pecans, brownies, fudge and caramel. Yes, I went all out! My mind was constantly running around which sweet dominated each bite! To end this review, I'll share a popular opinion: support family businesses. We love Coldstone and have been to many, but this place was awful. The service was pretty terrible. The employees were indifferent the whole time and acted like they didn't want to be there. The ice cream itself was decent, but even the food itself reflected the characterization of this place as it was just subpar. It was 68 degrees outside and this ice cream was melted by the time we finished it less than 5 minutes later. So I admit I MAY have something of a milkshake problem. I wouldn't call it an addiction, I just really like my milkshakes. You won't find me at the Burger King ordering one either. I have a few places I enjoy and I'm always on the lookout for new ones. This is a spot close to my house I know I can go to for a really tasty Strawberry shake. My son likes it here because they have all of the mix-ins. What kid wouldn't enjoy all those toppings? I've never tried the ice cream here, seems like a waste for me as I'm not a toppings fan. I do, however, enjoy their milkshakes. They blend them up nice and thick. The Strawberry one is my favorite, I pretty much don't see the point in ordering anything else now. Why mess with that perfection? And bonus, they don't kill the experience for me by adding whipped cream. Service here is always friendly. It's a small mall shop, so no seating inside. I ordered the cake online using their timeline to order, and what I wanted written on it. When I arrived my cake wasn't ready and I was told I didn't tell them what to write on it. The employee went to the front freezer pulled out a cake and took it back to write my son's name on it w/o writing Happy Birthday as it wouldn't fit. I noticed the side of the cake was messed up, but the employee said, no, it was just how the ice cream is on the cake. I looked at it when I got home, it was a sloppy mess. On top of this, the cake was icy, and the ice cream was icy; big ice crystals in both the cake and ice cream. This is not the first problem experienced with this location.
