In the high 80's this evening when I took a short break from work and found this little frozen yogurt shop in my neck of the woods. I was offered a little taste of the RootBeer froyo and liked it so I ordered half RootBeer and half Vanilla layered with carob in the bottom of the mini cup and on top with a sprinkle of coconut and pecan pralines. Opted to enjoy it inside the shop and witnessed the stream of customers coming in for their choice of frozen delights. Service was quick with two staff members. Found out the shop has been here nearly 20 years! Clean interior with a conservative number of chairs and tables. They have quite a number of toppings to choose from but little fresh fruit options. The yogurt is great but I really want to comment on the customer service. I was in yesterday, June 11 at a very busy time in the early afternoon. I counted 29 people in the store. Lily was the only one working and she was phenomenal! There were lots of very noisy kids waiting and eating and she kept smiling, serving everyone in a very friendly and expeditious manner while working the register As well. I was in the mood for some yogurt so I decided to come here because I was in the area. I do like the fact that they have different sizes not just small medium large. I decided to go with the child's size because it seemed like it was just gonna to be enough. It was actually too much. Enough for 2 people maybe even 3 which I think is a bit excessive. I didn't want the much yogurt to begin with so I felt like I wasted my money because I threw half of it away,I didn't eat it. And since the toppings were in the middle I didn't even get to them. Yogurt is always good. Never have to wait an unreasonable amount of time for service. Staff is always top notch!

Yogurt Barn isn't your typical frozen yogurt establishment that pays per ounce but rather per cup. Their portions are HUGE, and I only got a child size. When you see the sizes, it does make sense that the large is $10. Compared to others, the quality of their froyo is on the creamier side which is delightful and the place your toppings on the bottom and top of your yogurt. I enjoy the Peanut Butter and the Butterfinger flavors. The only reason this place didn't receive 5 is how unnecessarily warm it is in there for a frozen yogurt place. It wasn't too bad outside but walking in you get a face full of warmth which didn't feel like it welcomed you to eat in their establishment despite the nice and efficient customer service. Yogurt is yogurt and we all have our spots : my first time here during Covid and I wasn't impressed with them NOT enforcing patrons to wear a mask. When I asked the worker if this is something they do enforce she just stared at me and the group of patrons all not practicing social distancing or wearing masks : How they let people sample flavors is beyond me. Most places have stopped sampling. I have friends who live in the area and say every time they go there they encounter the same problem and have now stopped. Maybe it's a lakeside thing not supporting covid and it's seriousness : shame on you ! I can't believe I haven't given this place a review before. I have lived in Lakeside for a few years now, and this is the only place I go to for fro-yo. They always have a rotation of new, amazing flavors, and they are all just delicious. You also get a decent portion of yogurt for the price- oz. per oz. way cheaper than Menchies and just as good-if not better! I love the yogurt here. Staff is friendly. Prices are reasonable. BUT I think the Owner must be a cheap tightwad! 1. The owner needs to fix the AC or allow her employees to turn it on! The last time I went in we could not sit and eat because it was too hot. And the yogurts were melting as they sat there waiting for me to finish me yogurt order. 2. Never enough staffing. I FELL IN LOVE with the chocolate and peanut butter combination! The prices are amazing!! I get ripped off at the Yogurtland in Little Italy. I can't believe how delicious the yogurt was and I thought it was better that the young guy there made it.. After all, he is the expert not me! I was reluctant about a place when I do not put the toppings on myself. However, this guy that worked there made it amazingly. He put some of the 3 toppings for $1 on the bottom, then yogurt, then more toppings, then more yogurt, and back and forth. For me, I'd rather buy a yogurt of reasonable portion that I can finish in one sitting (I always usually get the mini size) rather than getting some ginormous "child size" from YM. Maybe it's just that I don't like eating leftover yogurt. Either way, Yogurt Barn is awesome. Other pluses: -You can pay here with a card. Go figure, 2014 and you can pay with a card.
