Okay, I really enjoy frozen yogurt, and they do have a lot of flavors, but their chocolate and vanilla were both not good. The vanilla was better, the chocolate was bitter and had a horrible after taste. Their plain tart, which is my favorite was also just okay. They had another blueberry/pomegranate (I think) tart flavor which was quite good. They do have great toppings for which I added an extra star. The price is way too high. 12/30 Very disappointed with tonight's yogurt outing- We Walk in both employees are behind the counter just standing there, the machines are a complete mess, no sample cups out, the cold bar was empty minus 3/4 containers with crumbs, they're cleaning a machine at 8:15 pm so 2 flavors were not available. The floors had spilled yogurt on them. Then to top it off she was on her phone... This is my second time I've been here, the first time at least the bar was filled but the employee was sitting on the counter at the register on her phone as we sat and ate in the restaurant which was absolutely crazy. read more

The Yogurt from here is alot better quality and flavors as well rather than Yogurtland. Place is overall clean due to theirs not alot of heavy foot traffic through here. But the customer service here is really lacking. The times I've been here their are 2 or 3 employees behind the counter. Standing around talking amongst one another. Not offering any greeting nor assistance of any kind. Also how are you going to ask for a tip when your standing around? Also at check out their isn't even an exit greeting given. I have really come to enjoy Menchie's. This is my third store in three visits. They were playing music, and the tables and floor were really clean. I like that each store had different flavors of yoghurt to try. I had green apple, mango, and pineapple. They also had different toppings to try at each store, I really love the fresh fruit and sprinkles. But you can have candies and syrups too. The options are endless. I had not been to Menchie's in years and had a 2 for 1 coupon so I decided to drop in yesterday. Long story short, I almost fell over when I was told the total was $13.88 for 2 frozen yogurts with no toppings!! I figured it must be a mistake but apparently I went over 8oz on both and was dinged on both because of it. I feel like I was robbed in broad daylight being charged that much with a 2 for 1 coupon. I should have just walked out and left the yogurts there but was in shock and begrudgingly paid...the yogurt was not even that great. Lesson learned, I was a bit lazy and did not feel like driving to The Yogurt Mill and paid the consequences. Beware of their predatory 2 for 1 "coupons". read more

It's isn't the yogurt quality or flavor that lacks here. The yogurt is actually decent just like any other Menchie's. The people who complain about the flavors are the same people who think Panda Express is the best Chinese food in the world...there's a lot of them in El Cajon. There's plenty of toppings to make your yogurt even more flavorful. What lacks here is the customer service. It's what you get when you hire high school kids without supervision, experience or guidance. It's not abnormal to walk in and not be greeted. Instead you'll see 2-3 employees by the register talking about their plans for the evening, some guy they saw, or what class they're currently failing. Like when I walked in and this girl who's name is Jordan was giving shitty school advice to her co-worker. Not the time and place when you have customers in the store. The place is small and might get loud when kids are around but they also have an outdoor space. Be careful coming in the parking lot, there's a bar close by and you never know who'll come out wandering around the lot. If you really want good customer service skills and high quality delicious yogurt then go down the street to Yogurt Mill. read more

A little over a year ago, I was driving to work and exiting the 52 freeway onto Convoy. I looked to my left and saw a familiar face sitting in the car next to me. We both kind of did a double take, got excited, smiled at each other and said hello. It was the OG Yelp homie, Princeton! What does that have to do with Menchie's Yogurt? I am on vacation in SD this week, hit up Princeton about going to the SD fair, and I scored a discount ticket from Toyota that I was going to give to her. We decided to meet at Menchie's for the hand off! I went to Menchie's in Phoenix for the first time last week. I was really impressed at their self serve yogurt options. This one was pretty good. They didn't have my cinnamon churro flavor, but they did have "Ice cream sandwich" which they do not have at my Phoenix one. I decided to go with that flavor and I loaded mine up as usual....yogurt, Heath bars, almonds and this time I went with some hot fudge. It was a mighty fine cup of frozen yogurt! Only bummer of the night was that Menchie's only accepts printed (paper) coupons. You can't just show them your phone/code. Lame! I had a great time finally meeting Princeton and her son. We sat there for a good hour or so just shooting the shit talking about everything from our families, to music, to Yelp, to the fair etc. I had a great time and it was nice to meet another Yelp friend in the flesh! I went to Menchie's with my family yesterday. There was ample parking. The store is set up efficiently; as you walk in, frozen yogurt stations are to the left, the toppings counter is located immediately after it and the register is on the right after you complete the loop. You're able to get in and out quickly! Customer service was okay; although we weren't greeted, the employee was friendly at checkout. The frozen yogurt was good and flavors offered included mango and peach with chocolate, vanilla and coffee options. The yogurt tasted as stated and had great consistency. read more

YUM! Most of flavors are pretty awesome - some I don't think they've quite mastered - YET! The topping selection is huge and the prices are fair. Plus the staff is friendly :) After 9 you can get as much as you want for $5.... BUT! Who is getting fro-yo at 9pm? Please bump it down to 8 and folks will definitely make their visits more frequent. Monday nights I play in a ladies night out pool league and one night while playing at the Study I saw menchies, but wasn't sure what they sold etc. I asked the bartender and he said they sell yogurt.... I love yogurt so I walked over and they had the best flavors and my favorite peanut butter... I grabbed a cup filled it up and got some topping and walked to the counter to pay ... usually they weigh it, but not on Monday's and Fridays... they charge $6.00 no matter how much you yogurt or toppings you get as long as it fits in the cup.. I walked myself back into line and bought a couple more lol.. I try to get there every Monday, but it doesn't always happen... I live 20 minutes away, but it's worth it ... Loved that they have the toppings individually wrapped in plastic containers now instead of the typical buffet style it was pre-pandemic. Now post-Covid they are very germ friends being in containers but it also prevents any sort of cross contamination now that I also have to worry about allergies for my toddler. I used to go to Menchie's when I lived in Seattle. I thought it was good then, but California has clearly changed my standards of frozen yogurt. First of all, this place is way overpriced. It is ~42 cents/ounce which is more than any of the places I go to in San Diego. I suppose this would be ok if the quality was better - it isn't. I would say about 2/3 of the flavors tasted watery and icy to me. The selection of flavors was also pretty boring. There were at least three flavors that were chocolate based. Mud pie, mocha, milk chocolate - I guess I like a little more variety in my yogurt. On a positive note, the shop was clean and they allow you to sample the flavors first. This isn't enough to get me back in the door though, there are too many better options in SoCal. read more

Menchie's. Truth be told, this is absolutely the first time I've heard of this place. Well, apparently they're all over LA (and other parts of the country, natch), with pictures of celebrities eating their yogurt in tabloids and Hollywood blogs. Hey, I get OK! Magazine every week, why haven't I seen them in there? Menchie's is a breath of fresh air in East County. It's about time El Cajon got classy, ha! I think this is a quality place with lots of potential, and I really hope they do good. This yogurt joint just makes you feel happy with their vibrant color scheme (albeit the fuchsia-and-green combo is generic among froyo places). It's bright, it's clean, it's a great hangout for the young and old. It's natural for East County people to compare Menchie's to The Yogurt Mill, but seriously - they're worlds apart. Menchie's is DIY, you're-in-control, have-it-your-way froyo. The Yogurt Mill is not. You get fresh fruit toppings and all kinds of eclectic, exotic, and even the familiar mix-ins at Menchie's, and you don't at the other place. It would be much fairer to compare Menchie's to Yogurtland, which follows the same DIY business model. They're both great froyo places, but it seems that Menchie's wants to be more involved in the community. The manager(?) even suggested that I "Like" their Facebook page to get updates on store activities like open mic nights. Now that's exciting stuff. So how's the yogurt, you ask? They are all yummy. I've had the chance to try the chocolate banana, dulce de leche, red velvet and pistachio. The first three, which are dairy-based, were creamy with very pronounced flavors. The pistachio one, surprisingly, is dairy-free and low fat. It had an icier quality to it - mainly because there's no milk in it! The spoons are lovely (although they're not biodegradable like Yogurtland's, as far as I know), and I love the syrup dispensers - they keep the syrups warm. The waffle cones they offer are a nice addition, too. Menchie's has a rewards program as well, which is always a good thing to have. And like Yogurtland, they have non-edible merch available for purchase, too. Like lipbalm (what?!), dodgeballs (what what?!) and t-shirts (yeah). As for the price - it's $0.41/ounce, compared to College Area Yogurtland's $0.33. It's a little more, sure, but with gas prices these days, you try to stay local as much as you can. As you can see, I got carried away with the photos. I took so many. It just explains how excited I am about this place. I hope they keep their standards up and keep us East County-ers happy with their frozen treats. read more

Just a heads up... They don't honor phone coupons... You have to have a printed paper coupon... But you can use expired competitors coupons.... So that's cool, but I didn't have either, that sucked..... Eh..... Good yogurt, pretty busy... It was a little watery and not very smooth :/ the flavor wasn't living up to the hype for me either... The flavors all tasted very artificial. They need a more extensive toppings selection too... Was not that big of a fan of this place, but when you don't want to wait in line at the yogurt mill... it's great! This place is topping utopia. They seem to have 40 different toppings and different types of syrups. I normally get the Chocolate stuff and tasted just like any other yogurt shop. Talk about waste! So went inside got my yogurt so did my hubby and mother in law and our 15 month old son. Once we got our yogurts and got ready to pay, all we had on us was $100. I understand that for security reasons you don't take it (I didn't see the sign before I went in), but when all you have is $100 and you already have your yogurt served you should make an exception. What a waste of food, makes me sick knowing that this store would rather waste food than break a $100. I can't support a business who is wasteful and has horrible customer service.
