Known for its wide variety of rotating yogurt flavors, numerous toppings, and other treats like boba, shaved ice, and coffee (yes, coffee)! Staff were friendly and helpful, making great recommendations (since it was our first time). The vibe was cheerful and pleasant. They had a great indoor and outdoor space to enjoy your delicious treats! It is a bit pricey compared to other froyo shops! But they do offer a loyalty program which offers a stamp card for frequent customers. Overall, the frozen yogurt was creamy and slightly tangy. The dole whip and pomegranate sorbet were the perfect combination of sweet and citrus flavors. My daughter is pretty basic- she ordered plain vanilla with boba. Love a classic Froyo experience! Penguin is everything you would want Froyo to be - a good array of flavors and toppings, and friendly service! The shop is kept very clean as well. I am use to paying $7-$8 in North County but I guess in Santee it's a whole lot higher so that was my lunch since I spent $12 on one cup of frozen yogurt. Like I said it was delicious. The yogurt flavors are always good and they offer so many different toppings that do not overwhelm you either . They offer more than yogurt as well like shaved ice, boba, drinks, dole whip and coffee. We have been there about three times and not once has it disappointed yet. They don't provide samples anymore which is a bummer because they have flavors that sound good but are not, such as strawberry. So it's just a matter of luck if you end up liking the yogurt. I got the matcha and strawberry and ate just the matcha. The reason I gave 2 stars was just for the matcha. It was yummy! The toppings were also fresh, especially the fruit. Time and again, Penguin Yogurt Factory has never disappointed. It is hands-down the best yogurt shop I have ever been to and I have absolutely no complaints. The man who runs this place is kind of a neat freak, but it makes for the absolute best froyo experience possible compared to other places which do not give much attention to detail in keeping the toppings bar stocked and clean. They have a variety of flavors of yogurt, including for different dietary needs , and I don't think I've ever tried a bad one. They have tons of toppings, sauces, etc and a huge variety of drinks, shave ice, chamango, etc. This place has a special place in my heart and is where I have gone with family for years after days or nights out. We have a running joke after having a huge meal at dinner of saying "Time for Penguin Yogurt?" I have gone here with all my friends, those who I have kept throughout the years and those who have not stuck around. I've gone alone during some of my darkest times. My best friend is from Britain and had never tried froyo until he came to Penguin with me, he exclaimed "Now that is delightful! " upon taking his first bite. It is not just a yogurt shop, it is a place of community in Santee which brings people together and makes them happy. So here's the deal, I LOVE Boba. So I'm usually pretty harsh with critiquing "boba" places. Either it's usually too dry or clumpy/sticks together. Or the taste is just off. I just had my first Boba Tea and I'm in loveeee. Everything was so perfect with the Boba and the flavor of my honey lemon tea was spot on without being overly sweet. My husband got the sparkling watermelon lemonade and boy was it crisp and refreshing It sort of tasted like a less-sweet, more naturally flavored watermelon soda. Today, I put a teaspoon on the side of my new cup to try it and I went to pay after I filled up, and the young girl was on such a power trip telling me I need to have every drop weighed and I was a health hazard LMAO WHATT. This place is pleasantly surprising. It's a smaller shop next to the new hipster gastropub 52 East. This place has a wide variety of flavors for you to fill to your heart's content. There are toppings of all sorts-definitely something for everyone. There were chocolates, caramels, brownies, cheesecake bites, assorted fruits, gummies, sprinkles, and the list goes on. My kids were in heaven. It was a nice little treat on a warm day. There is seating inside and out. The staff keep the place clean and all of the toppings fresh! The prices are reasonable.
