I don't know if it's the best sushi spot around, or if I just haven't had sushi in awhile, but I thoroughly enjoyed the food from here. Honestly I haven't ordered sushi in a long time, but had a craving. Usually have pretty low expectations for any Vallejo establishment, but happy to say I'm a happy customer. Convenient location off Glen Cove with plenty of parking. I got there pretty early (4pm) but it was still fairly crowded. Like most sushi restaurants, the menu was huge, but they're smart enough to have photos of everything. Service was very friendly, patient and helpful from a young kid. I give him a lot of props for answering all my questions, eventhough they were busy. I got a bunch of rolls, some sashimi, fried seafood combo and tonkatsu. Everything was really good. Tonkatsu was little thin and dry, but not to the point where you couldn't enjoy it still. Will definitely return to this local spot to try more items. read more

This use to be my Go To sushi spot in Vallejo & was super excited when they expanded from their original location in Fairfield several years ago. But I noticed there's been a big change...not a good change. Has there been an onwership change?? My last few visits in the past 6 months, i've noticed prices continue to go up but quality has gone down. 1. Gyoza are supposed to be deep fried but comes out semi fried...like it's been pre cooked and reheated 2. Teriyaki chicken is horrible!!! Grilled chicken thighs cut in big chunks and drizzled teriyaki sauce on top. You can tell the chicken had no seasoning . This is the same for the beef teriyaki. 3. This was my first time coming here! If you want something quick but not super fancy or expensive for sushi, this is somewhere to consider going to. We came around 6:30 on Tuesday and it was quiet and wasn't crowded at all! Service was quick and friendly. You order at the cash register, and the staff bring it out to you. The food was good and super filling! My favorites of the night were the crab mania roll and the angry lion king roll. What really caught my eye on the menu was the monkey banana, which had crab meat, tuna, mayo, and fried banana. An interesting combo but somehow still good! Yo Sushi is my go-to for DoorDashing sushi in Vallejo. They're pretty reliable. I think they stay open latest out of all the sushi restaurants in town. Easy parking since it's in the same shopping center as Safeway. DoorDash orders can be okay or good. One time, maybe it was near closing, the rolls we got were fat! It's never been a complete miss for me. Very large selection of sushi rolls. There is something for everyone. Recently I came here for a dine-in experience. I wasn't aware it's self-service. Order and pay at the counter, they'll call your name to pick up your food, and bus your own table when you're done. The rolls were good. The line to order moves fast. I think they largely do take out orders. The boba drinks were unexpected. They were a lot more like a slushee or a freeze. The flavor of the Thai tea was good. I just didn't expect a semi-frozen drink. Will likely continue ordering through DoorDash, but will check out other places if I'm looking for a more traditional sit down experience. read more

I promised last time that I would have pictures, and this time I write this review to deliver on that promise! I've been craving some sushi during these pandemic times. I almost forgot about this place. To me, it's almost what you would think of if you wanted some fast food sushi. Not to try and take away from the charm of this place because the food is pretty solid, but that is my image of Yo Sushi. It's like going to McDonald's and getting a Big Mac or Fries. Sure you can get a fancy burger or fancy fries somewhere else but there is something special about McDonalds. The same can be said for Yo Sushi. I ordered the Philly, Caterpillar, Airforce, Hot Mama and Island Rolls. All were pretty tasty. The Philly was creamy. The Caterpillar's roll had fresh avocado. The Airforce had a lot of flavor. The Hot Mama had the perfect amount of spice to it and I appreciate the green onions as well. Finally the Island Roll was had a really nice flavor with the lemon on top. I'm so happy to have a sushi place that delivers via Door Dash. I'm not sure if anyone is reading this lives in Benicia, but if so they might know that the list for Doordash in Benicia wasn't the best of list over the last year or two. A staple sushi spot in Vallejo, Yo Sushi has been my go to place for some quick, good sushi. Plenty of rolls and more on their menu with a vast selection for multiple palettes. Service is always friendly and efficient. You can't go wrong if you're in the mood for some solid sushi. Yo Sushi in Vallejo is located in Glen Cove in the Safeway shopping center, adjacent to the Chase bank. Being in a busy shopping center, there is a large shared, free parking lot. Orders can be placed in person, by phone, or online. The ordering process for all three options is easy and straightforward. Staff is always patient and helpful despite how busy I've seen them get. I've been a long time patron since they opened and have tried many things over the years. Some staple favorites are the Monkey Banana (the sweetness with the fried banana brings the dish to a new level) and the Angry Lion King (love the regular Lion King with the baked salmon, but the extra crab meat on the top elevates the roll just a bit). If you're a fan of the Lion King (or any of its variations), be sure to plan ahead because it will take about 15-20 minutes to prepare since it needs to be baked. It will be worth the wait though! Rolls in general can sometimes be packed with more rice than desired, but taste and quality are good enough to keep me coming back! If you or any others you'll be dining with aren't into sushi, they do have several kitchen items catering to many preferences. There is a complete lack of quality sushi in Vallejo. I have tried SO MANY places. All the places. What we have is pretty much all fast food sushi places no better than getting it at Safeway. Yo Sushi is just another fast food sushi place. Not terrible, but not what I'd call good. This is probably the second or third time I've ordered. I keep forgetting it's not that good. One of the rolls I ordered was fish and then wrapped in cucumber with no rice, and some watery mayo based sauce that drained out of the slices. The thing pretty much fell apart. How can you serve sushi in this form? The tempura shrimp was definitely from the freezer and doughy. Also, this place is far from cheap. Instead of another Thai place, Chinese fast food, soul fusion, or fast food sushi place, can someone please open a sushi restaurant in Vallejo with HIGH QUALITY fish? People would pay for it. So upset, they forgot about my food. Took them 48 minutes for one dish! and I asked 3 times we sat and waited up front for over 20 minutes. The girl in the back is horrible she looked like she is arguing with the front staff when they said where is the food. They had to tell her 3 times to get the food. My sushi I got looked was very low quality and avocado looked like it was getting old. The manager just looked at me and said sorry I'll talk to her. I grew up in Vallejo so Yo Sushi has been in my artillery of restaurants since the beginning. Every time I come here, the food comes fast, and the sushi is great. I always recommend this place to friends and family who travel to Vallejo. I'd honestly give them 5-stars but I had a sub-par experience with them on my last visit. So I come in about 30 minutes before they close and its pretty packed. The cashiers look a little overwhelmed; in which I understand, I too worked in the restaurant industry in college. What makes me mad was the cashier's inability to focus on me as a customer when other things are going on. As I give her my order, shes "directing traffic" behind her, and asks me to repeat my order. I repeat my order again and then she tries to be cute to a nearby table by jokingly telling some kids to eat their vegetables. She doesn't hear my order. I tell her once more, and this time she's not even looking in the direction of me and the register. When I get my food, the food isn't packed to go. If she was listening, this mistake wouldn't have been made. Now here I am waiting another 5 minutes to get my food boxed up, and other staff does it for her. What is she doing? Counting money. Pretty unprofessional to count cash on a stand. You're not closed yet, and you're not switching shifts. That can wait. Anyway, the food was great as usual. The sashimi appetizer is always fresh, and the rolls are made with craft and precision.
