Nachos was 7/10. Service was 2/10, waited over 1 hour for our food, 2 table that got there ahead of us was served before us, and we was there 20 minutes before them. Came here on a Friday night during happy hour and wasn't disappointed. So many food & drink options to choose from! I went for their fish tacos and a michelada. Our waiter was Miriam and she was really nice, supper attentive great service I came with my sister sonwe had the kids We got them their horchata water and it was 10/10 so creamy and delicious! If you haven't been to El Barbas Restaurant & Bar in Vallejo yet, you're seriously missing out! The atmosphere is amazing -- the black walls with gold and red accents create a royal vibe, and the staff is incredibly warm and welcoming. We tried a variety of dishes, including Pozole, Green Chilaquiles con Longaniza, Red Chilaquiles con Carne Asada, Birria Ramen, Sopa de Siete Mares, Tamales de Puerco y Pollo, and the El Jefe Sushi Roll, which had steak, shrimp, and cream cheese. For drinks, we had Horchata Hennessy (they're definitely generous with the Hennessy, so I'll need to come back kid-free) and Hot Chocolate. My favorite was the Longaniza Chilaquiles -- it took me straight back to my childhood, having longaniza tacos at my aunt's house. I also loved the steak chilaquiles; the steak was juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The Birria Ramen was super flavorful as well, but the Siete Mares stole the show. The tamales were spicy -- everything here had a great kick to it, which I loved. And that sushi roll was awesome! I'm definitely coming back for that roll and to try all their other Mexican sushi rolls. Bonus: El Barbas transforms into a lounge with great music and an even better vibe, especially with all the lovely ladies working there. And hella good My sis ordered the Caldo de Camaron, there's another Vallejo spot that has the Caldo on lock, but we always like to try different spots. This one was ok. Large prawns and lots of them, but the consomne was just aight. We got a sushi roll, pretty good. Considering you're in a Mex restaurant I would try this place again, but try in person so I can see what presentation and service is like. read more

Wow! I walked in and the ambiance is amazing! The service was terrific and the food followed. I ordered a flight of drinks, all were so tasty! They have such a fantastic menu with many different options and excellent choices. There was a singer with his guitar and he had a good voice and played very well. My first experience was great. Me and a few girlfriends went and started off with bacon wrapped shrimp with chipotle sauce called Camarones Momias were 10/10. I would go back just to order that. Also, the salsa that came with the chips was very different from your typical Mexican restaurant salsa, and it was also 10/10! I didn't have much of an appetite, so I ordered two shrimp tacos which were delicious and the others ordered the Molcajete "Jefe" which was a hearty meal that was also delicious, and two different sushi rolls (I forgot the names) one cold and one fried, and they both had really good taste, but the hot one was tastier. We all shared a flight of mojitos which were all very generous portions , almost too much for three of us, as there were 5 large glasses full of them. When things got busy it did take a while for us to see our waitress so we could ask for something else, but other than that, it was a great experience and I will be coming back a second time. It also seems they have live music/bands on weekends. Not sure if it's every weekend as I didn't ask more about it. read more

El Barbas has a really unique take on Mexican food. I ordered the Culchi Roll and it was nothing like I ever had before! I definitely will be coming back to try other things. However, keep in mind they're lowkey pricey. I spent $28 and all I got was a horchata and the roll. The service is a little slow and some of the waitresses only speak Spanish. I'm a no sabo kid but thankfully when it comes to food my mama taught me how to atleast order in Spanish lol. I'm trying to weigh my pros and cons with this place: Food- pros it was good. Cons price very overpriced. Nothing priced on the menu so you're left with a surprise when the tab comes. Staff- staff not so nice. We had no idea about there club hours, we showed up only for food and drinks and were told to pay $30 each to come inside. We were not trying attend there dancing club hours. We just wanted to have a drink at the bar and have some food. We came a second time during the day for food to give it a try. I have seen the advertisement online and was looking forward to trying the food. Friday nights, we did not know, it was karaoke. We showed up and everyone was so darn nice. Smiles and waves to our lil family. We got the menu but unfortunately we do not speak Spanish. So we ordered margaritas and a strawberry lemonade for the little. We enjoyed the singing and atmosphere but unfortunately ended up leaving without trying the food. We will be back to try the food, just not on a Friday. This place has very unique but cool decor. The theme is black and gold but it has really cool lights and details. The food was really good. We tried the fish tacos, shrimp tacos, chorizo tacos and ceviche de camaron con mango and habanero. The food was delicious! The chips and salsas were very good. They had a green salsa and a red chili salsa. The food tasted very well seasoned and authentic. We also ordered a flight of Palomas. They were full sized drinks and they were all very delicious. I was confused to see sushi on the menu but given how delicious the mariscos were it makes sense and will have to return to try it. Their menu is cool because it's not very big which tells me their food is fresh which is exactly how it tasted. Apparently they do karaoke here but I went on a Friday and they didn't have any events on that night and they closed at 10pm. Our waitress was super nice and had a really good vibe to her. She was very polite and attentive. The waiters were also very nice and brought the food out very quickly. Another thing I noticed was that they would check in and ask if we needed anything while we were having our dinner but it wasn't invasive and we did not need to call out server over which is important because you want to enjoy your meal. We had a great experience here and hope more people check it out. Oh yes I forgot to mention the outside of the building is black so it looks a little strange but when you walk in it looks cool aside of this giant religious statue that's in the entrance that threw me off at first but the place looked pretty cool and different. I will be returning to try the sushi and oyster shot flight which I haven't seen anywhere else. They had like a Moscow mule flight, michelada flight, and other flights that are full sized drinks that I would love to try.
