Also, they're quick with cooking and the people there are very attentive. I always get the spicy soup, but it's not that spicy. You could add the chili oil to make it more spicy. My husband is obsessed with their chili oil and even asked them if they could sell him a bottle haha I think it's very affordable. I usually pay around $15 for my bowl, but I usually eat only half of it so $15 can make two meals. I take back the soup, add some more veggies and noodles, and enjoy again :) read more

Ive worked as a server at many places, and I was shocked at the service they provided here at Yin Tang. I came with my friends at 9, an hour before closing, and they immediately looked annoyed when we walked in. My friends and I served ourselves so I did not think to tip, but as I was sitting down the waitress comes up to me and says that I needed to tip. I was so shocked that they demanded me to tip, never would I do that as a server. Also they gave us barely any soup, and smaller bowls, and my other friends soup was watered down. I think this is a nice place to go to if you want hot pot but you want everything all at once instead of plate by plate. The person there was so helpful and nice. The moment me and my partner came in around 9:00 we were immediately met with a server. From the beginning she seemed a little annoyed that we came in but after looking at her watch she permitted us to be served. We got our bowl and did the usual not thinking too much of it. The issue began when I paid before us being seated because of the time. After seeing that I did not leave a tip she rudely asked "no tip?" and then I replied with "I chose not to." She proceeded to get more aggressive demanding we leave a tip and saying things such as "this is America" and "you have to take your food to go if you do not tip." After feeling the tension in the air, my partner kindly said that we can go somewhere else and kept apologizing, however it seemed like the server was not letting us go despite the food was just brought in to the kitchen and couldn't have been possibly cooked yet. Soon after what I assume to be the manager comes over and attempts to handle the situation by saying me and my partner have to take our food to go if we are not going to tip them because it is a Sunday and they "have to go to the market."My partner asked if it was possible to get a refund but she was very adamant about us not leaving or giving our money back. Overall this interaction was incredibly rude and I do not recommend going to this location. I would have been more than happy to tip if the server was nicer as I was a server before. I also wanted to add that we would have understood the inconvenience being served at 9 PM but the server allowed us to come in despite knowing they close at 10 PM, a whole hour later. What makes Yin Tang different from other hot pot places are the personalized hot pots and it is served cooked! You get to choose the vegetables, protein, broth, and spice level and pay by the pound. As of January 2024, it is $13.99/lb. I've also been to the Carrollton location and it's $14.99/lb over there. The broth is absolutely flavorful and delicious! I get the medium spicy and it's the perfect level for me, it does numb your mouth a little bit. If you're looking for some extreme heat, than the large or super spicy will work better! The service is amazing and the staff is always coming up to check on me! I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a lowkey hot pot spot and like to eat alone! Inside you can see lots of tables, the small sauce bar and "buffet" of items to put into your soup. It's an establishment that is open to everyone. I went for the first time last night and it was great the food was good, service was great they made us laugh. They helped my friend by giving him helpers for his chopsticks so he could learn to use them, they even gave us some extra broth to take home for our leftovers. The atmosphere was very relaxing. We put a LOT of things in our bowl, it didn't look like much but oh boy it was! Our tab was almost $100!! There were 3 of us. Don't get the fish ball, quail egg or the fried tofu. Something about it doesn't sit right with me, taste like the stuff you get at the store that's been cooked slightly and left there. My friends have talked about this place every time I visit Dallas and I finally got a chance to go. It's kind of like a hotpot place, but you choose your ingredients and they cook it for you. There's an ingredient bar with all sorts of veggies, seafood, meats, and other goodies that you gather into a bowl. The food is weighed on a scale, you choose the spice level you want, and then they cook it for you. After I gathered all my fav things into my bowl, I gave them my bowl and took my number. When the food came out, it was a lot more than I expected haha. Everything was cooked very well and the broth they use is beef based and very rich. I ended up having leftovers that would make for a great second meal or two. All the food comes out piping hot so be careful when you eat. They'll tell you what table to sit at and prep it while you make your bowl. The ingredients are labeled in Chinese as well as English. The cost is by pound, $12.99. We feel like it's very worth it because we always have leftovers. They can give you a container to go if you can't finish during dine in. We have never ordered to go but it looks like it's an option. You pay after you're done eating. They give you a number tag and receipt after weighing bowl. They will also ask you while weighing if you want anything to drink and how spicy would you like broth to be. They also have a clear broth for those who want no spicy at all. I normally get 1 because I can't handle spice and clear broth doesn't taste as great as regular one. We have tried their appetizers too. They are good but very spicy!
