I'm typically not a pastry girl, but ever since I discovered this place from the office catering at my company, I haven't looked back. My all-time favorite is the ham and cheese croissant. Even though I eat these every week in my office, I never get sick of it and look forward to the days that we get catering from here. I also highly recommend the basque burnt cheesecake. It's so creamy and you can taste the slight tinge of bitterness of the cake which helps to balance out the sweetness on the inside. This cafe is my happy place in the morning. I love the cozy and easygoing vibe. They have the best croissants in the neighborhood hands down and the coffee is always excellent. The owner and baristas are always friendly -- one of them suggested I try simple syrup in my hot coffee and this was a game changer for me! Many, if not all, of the desserts are freshly made, in addition to an excellent menu of salads and bites. As you can see, I recently ordered the fattoush salad and it was excellent! Served as a sizable portion of well-cut veggies (heirloom tomatoes, radishes, baby cukes) and herbs with a light dressing and seasoned croutons. Oh, my, wow... ... is all I can say about the MATCHA LEMON COOKIE!! It's dense, it's salty, it's sweet, it's lemon-y fragrant, and the matcha has a creamy texture in this cookie. I don't typically have a difficult time making a choice between sweet treats but at Yardsdale everything is so good that I often end up eating a few different things. The Basque-style cheesecake it absolutely to die for, super creamy but with a deliciously firm, caramelized outside. The Babkas are equally delicious, either in cinnamon or Nutella (my mom prefers the Nutella for dessert and cinnamon with her morning coffee) The salads and other savory goodies are also delicious and the team that works here leaves you wanting to come back for more and more. Don't love giving out 5s because nothing is perfect but damn the almond milk cortado is top level. This beverage tasted like a marshmallow meeting a pillow meeting a bold espresso and then them all dancing together to make a smooth sweet caramelized yummy drink. The cookies ( this word hardly describes these things...) are incredible- Chocolate Chip, or Green Tea Matcha Lemon, and so much more....And, don't forget- they feature a lovely garden out back, and - as the name implies, they are an active antiques shop! We were passing through the neighborhood when the smell of Yardsale's baked goods lured us in. The bakery's interior was really unique and charming, with all sorts of knick knacks and small porcelain figurines decorating the walls. When we reached the counter, we inquired about the Cinnamon Babka and they told us that they had just finished baking one which was still too warm to slice into. This was actually a huge plus for us though because we especially love fresh baked goods, and we didn't hesitate to buy the entire loaf. As soon as we got home, the entire babka was gone in a matter of minutes. Because it was fresh out of the oven, the interior was still super warm and moist and tasted just so incredibly delicious. Needless to say, this was one of the best babkas I've ever had in my life, beating out even Breads Bakery's babkas with how fresh it was. Highly, highly recommend. read more
