This is a critique of the system that is in place of Yards Bruncheon, more of a macro view as opposed to a micro view. Our waitress, despite the system in place, did the best she could. Offering up small talk and checking on us as frequently as she could given the circumstances that the owner/manager of this establishment have put in to place. The scene: Tuesday, late morning (11AM) group of five adults plus one infant. I walk in, and as mentioned numerous times in other posts by dissatisfied costumers, no one to greet you or direct you to sign in. In reading other peoples' posts this has been mentioned as needing to be done and whoever is responsible for responding for this business has said that they will/are going to do this, yet it has not been done. I look around and count how many open tables (not seats, but tables mind you) are open and count 14. There are about 8 people in front of us, group sizes ranging from 2-4 people) and I anticipate about a 15 minute wait. 40 minutes later we are seated... 40 minutes. Appalling. During that time I watched 6 people walk out and leave d/t the wait. I guess about 200-300$ worth of money was lost due to these people leaving. I watched a table left dirty with dishes and everything still on it for the whole 40 minutes. This is after they have sat another group at the same table (it was one of their large 10 person tables that they divided in to two sections). If I had been at that table I would have been disgusted that I was eating next to dirty plates. And while on this subject, it is the waiters and waitresses that are bussing the tables and serving the food... Are they washing hands in between picking up the dirty dishes and serving the clean food? They are also sweeping the floor and using a dust pan...are they washing their hands after doing this before they pick up our food to bring to us? After being seated we immediately placed our order (we had enough time to look at the menu and decide what we wanted while waiting for our seat). It took another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. I enjoy what I had and compliment the chefs, others in my party did not like theirs so much, but I can't speak for them. I checked the table that hadn't been bussed while we were waiting while halfway through my meal and it still had not been cleaned! Original 40 minute wait time, plus 30 minutes for food....over an hour (!) of a dirty table sitting there with people being sat next to it to eat... After finishing our meal we asked for our check so that the pace could be kept going. This was promptly brought to us (our waitress did the best she could!) and we were off. A total of two hours to eat on a Tuesday, late morning. I came from Portland, OR before moving to Spokane. Portland is a city that has nearly 610K residents. I would go out to eat almost every Sunday morning. It is a right of passage to go out to eat on the weekend in PDX. It is also expected to wait for up to an hour to be seated d/t the popularity (and quite frankly, awesome food) of going out for brunch. Only once in my 7 years of living there did my whole dining experience (waiting for seating, waiting for food, waiting for the check) last as long as it lasted at the Yards. And that is in spite of a truly full restaurant with a line snaking around the corner outside. The Yards was nowhere near capacity for their restaurant yet it took this long. I would hate to be there on a day when it actually was running at full capacity. My suggestions for the owner/manager of the Yards: 1) Hire a greeter. Makes for a more welcoming environment and keeps wait times accurate as they have a sense of what is actually going on as opposed to the waitstaff guessing as to where the other waiter is at on their tables. Plus, the waitstaff does not have to focus of the sign-in sheet, pulling them away from their tables, making service faster. Ta-Da! 2) Place coffee, creamer, and mugs outside and use the honor system and let people serve themselves. That way people aren't waiting in line to sign in for their seat amongst people waiting in line at the bar for coffee, etc.. while they wait to be seated. Almost every eatery in Portland does this and maybe they get ripped off by people, but it can't be that bad because they all keep doing it. 3) Hire someone to buss the tables. I can't say this enough. The wait staff should not being doing this. It is unsanitary and a waste of their time directing them away from their customers who actually have food/are waiting for food or drinks. It is an occupied table that leaves tips, not an unoccupied dirty one. If I was waitstaff at the Yards I would not be happy about this because I am sure they are losing money on tips because they cannot be attentive to their tables d/t needing to clean and sweep around other tables. 4) Hire more waitstaff. I have been here three times now and only two dedicated waiters are present. This is not enough! You are losing money because of this! Adapt or be gone. read more

This cute little Brunch spot is located in a developing neighborhood near downtown Spokane. It's on a street that many running event occur on. That's how I stumbled upon this place the first time, I had a post-run meal here and I remember it being delicious. I was about to write a review when I thought, shoot, what if it's because I was starving after my run and that's why I thought it was sooo good? Well this is my second visit and it's still as amazing as I remember. The food tastes fresh and everything is we seasoned. Today I had the corned beef hash and a half baby kale salad. Big we're awesome! I highly recommend the baby kale salad! They have lunch options too, but I haven't had lunch here so I can't really give you much for that. Thy also have drinks and alcoholic breakfast and just-because-you-can beverages. Not only is the food amazing, but the staff is friendly and welcoming. Definitely will come back here again, and I'll bring friends next time! read more

Found The Yards Bruncheon on www.spokaneeats.com. Walked over from downtown Spokane around 9:00 am on Saturday morning. We were able to get a table without any wait. I appreciate that this brunch place serves a full menu all day, since I really prefer lunch food to breakfast food. I ordered the Cobb wedge with chicken ($14.98 ... not particularly cheap) and the husband ordered the Roasted pepper salad ($10.99) and the Toasted banana bread with pecan butter ($2.99 ... a good deal). Cobb salad is my go-to salad. Yards' version did not disappoint. The cooked tomatoes were a nice touch, and the chicken had good grill flavor and was still juicy. The husband really enjoyed the crispy asparagus in his salad. While he said the banana bread was almost as good as mine (that's high praise, just so you know), he said it was too much food. The banana bread comes with 2 very generous slices - one definitely would have been enough. Looking around at the dishes other diners were served, nobody leaves Yards Bruncheon hungry ... really generous servings enough to satisfy a small horse. I would definitely return for another brunch or lunch next time I'm in Spokane. read more

I would usually rate this place a 5 out of 5. But today, my mom and I ordered takeout and it was not worth the money at all. The potatoes were undercooked and my moms omelette seemed like a microwaved piece of crap from a Denny's or something. The quality was not the same as I'm used to, and maybe it's covid-19's fault. Or at least I'm hoping so. If it stays this bad we will not continue to eat there! read more

My mom and I came here for brunch and absolutely LOVED it! The staff was warm and welcoming when we arrived, we waited less than 5 minutes before they offered to let us sit at their little bar area instead of waiting for a table.. Which we gladly accepted. Our waitress was attentive and quick! The atmosphere was busy but inviting.. Very nicely decorated but not overwhelming in any way. Food: we ordered the apple donuts.. Very tasty, but extremely sweet! They came with 7, and there was no way the 2 of us could eat all of them! I had the huckleberry pancakes, also sweet.. But totally worth every calorie they had to have! My mom had the biscuits and gravy with eggs and homestyle potatoes.. Which she wouldn't stop ooo-ing and ahh-ing over. Overall, we were extremely pleased with everything this place had to offer and we'll definitely be back! read more

Our family visited on my birthday and the food was absolutely delicious! We had a Full Breakfast (bacon, eggs, toast, sausage, and potatoes), Ham and Cheese Omelette, Breakfast Burrito, Mini Tacos, and to top it all off Bruleed Banana Pecan Pancakes - OMG! It was 4 of us and we could not finish the dinner plate size stack of 3 pancakes. They were to die for! Makes me wanna get a torch and brulee some at home this weekend. The only negative for me was the decor - it didn't make sense. It was very 50's diner with an open kitchen yet their logo is a turkey-duck-chicken morph - a Turducken I think the waiter said. A more rustic farm look would fit better. But that's just me! I won't hold that agains them - the food was incredible and THAT's what I went for, not design ideas! read more

Wifes chicken and wafflez were soggy and her chicken was cut up into strips after it was fried so it lost its crunch too. My breakfast burger was a good concept but it full short because of the soggyness of the french toast bun, maybe serve the syrup on the side. Love this place. Great service by friendly employees and great food. I have been here twice. The first time I ordered the huevos rancheros And it was wonderful. Great balance of flavors. The second time I had runny eggs and my husband had the poutine. The egg breakfast was what you would want and at a good price point. The poutine was a lot of food and good but a bit heavy and missed the point of poutine. Fresh fries, fresh cheese curds, and brown gravy makes the best poutine. This poutine was good but soooo heavy and too much. That being said I will be going back with family from out of town and I'm sure you can't go wrong with the menu. No one in Spokane seems to be able to do poutine anyways so seriously you can't go wrong in this place. read more

Came in on a October Sunday morning around 10:00am and were expecting a wait. It looked very crowded outside when we drove by and we turned around ready to leave dissapointed and the crowd had shrank so we parked and waited only about 20 minutes. I was excited about the Chicken and Waffles and it was so worth the wait for. Hubby got the breakfast fajitas and they also were very good. The service was quick and the a Bloody Mary's were very very good. We both enjoyed ourselves and will eat here again soon. read more

I was alone looking for a last minute brunch before heading off to the airport, and the very sweet hostess found a way to fit me in without sitting through the hour wait. This was my go-to spot while in town and was always on point. Very laid back and great customer service. Great food, loved the huevos Rancheros and biscuits and gravy! The coffee was just right as well as those donut holes to top it all off. Only thing I recommend is tinting the windows at the top but that's a personal preference and not an issue at all. This is our first trip to The Yards. I really enjoyed the variety and creativity of the menu (although a bit hard to read). My wife ordered Breakfast Poutine. Wow. We were both blown away by the size, presentation, and overall awesomeness of the dish. I ordered the Beet Burger to try something new. It was also fantastic. You can see they are working on their service process and routines, as drink service was a little slow. We will definitely be back to the Yards for the Poutine and to try something else new! First time to Bruncheon we were there for lunch. It wasn't too crowded and we sat ourselves..we did have to finally flag down a server after being ignored for several minutes but once we did get someone's attention she was great and attentive. Surprisingly big menu and drink menu too! Lots of tasty sounding options. Had a Bloody Mary (quite good) and the pastrami sandwich. The sandwich was big and flavorful, not a deli type pastrami but still yummy. Definitely coming back. My mother and I had breakfast yesterday - each ordering the petite breakfast. Good portions, hot food and eggs cooked the way we ordered. And this was a very reasonable price. However my mother did not order the coffee since it was $3 - since I do not drink coffee I had not noticed that. The atmosphere is nice and the service was great - not intrusive but she took care of our needs. I will definitely be back and try other items such as lunch. Even with the high ceilings it was easy to carry on a conversation. The noise level was better than Central Foods - and I love CF. Food was ok, even though it was served to us luke-warm. The service is the reason for the low review. When we came in, we had to sign in for a table, we were not greeted by anyone! There was a small 2 person table open, a big 10 person table and a counter with 3 seats all open....and 8 people just sitting and waiting. 15 available seats and 8 people sitting and waiting for seats?? The entire hour and 10 minutes we were there, there were available seats and people waiting long waits. I'm talking 15-20 minutes! And when they finally seated you, the waitress would point to the table and just say "go ahead". No walking you to the table and asking how your morning is. Just "go sit". Then we waited for at least 30 minutes for our luke-warm food. At least it tasted ok. The waitress had a very uninviting, authoritative, unfriendly tone. None of the staff ever smiled. I've truly never seen such a seemingly miserable staff. We are parents to small children and we had a kid free morning and we were excited to support a local business and try a new place. Left there feeling annoyed and completely cheated of a lovely, peaceful breakfast with my husband. read more

This is one of the best breakfast places in Spokane! It's crowded over the weekend, so I would try to go during the week. But either way I think it's worth the wait!
