I've had Yao's on my list to try ever since the big Yelp party earlier this year (they had one of the best bites of the night), and I finally made it in for Magical Dining this past month. I took my friend to dinner for her birthday and it was the perfect chance to try a wide variety of their menu. They have a 4 course menu for Magical Dining, so it's definitely a great value for $40 per person. We both started with the chili wontons (pork) as our starter and we're glad we did because they were amazing and we did not want to share, haha. For the second appetizer, we did share the Shanghai sticky ribs and the tuna crudo. Again, both hits -- especially the ribs! I'm not usually a big rib fan, but these were perfectly cooked, tender, and fell right off the bone. The sweet chili soy sauce they're coated in with fried garlic is so tasty. For our mains, she got the Teres Major Steak (asian chimichurri, umami butter, gai lan, smoked salt) and I got the General Yao's Chicken (tempura battered served with rice). We enjoyed a few bites of each before we were absolutely stuffed. They were both huge, generous portions and we took home enough for leftovers the next day. Of course, we saved just enough stomach space for dessert -- I went with the black sesame soft serve (black tahini, brown sugar crumble) and she got the fried sesame balls. I think we both enjoyed the soft serve the most. I'm a sucker for anything black sesame. Overall, I was really impressed with Yao's and the service was very welcoming and friendly, despite being quite busy during Magical Dining. I'm looking forward to returning with my husband soon because I know he'll love it, too! read more

Since the Magical Dining list came out I saw Yao's was on the list and I knew I had to go. You definitely need to make a reservation if you want a guaranteed seat we saw many people get turned away without one. When you walk in it's nicely decorated and the bar has a lighted bar too which was nice. We were seated at a high top table that we shared with several other people, I would've preferred a table but no big deal. My husband and I ordered off the Magical Dining Menu and for the price you get an abundance of food, it's worth every penny. All of the food was amazing, we loved each dish. Everything tasted fresh, well seasoned, and all the meat was tender. As for desserts you definitely have to order the black sesame soft serve. Ambiance is cool & sexy a great spot for a date and the food is beyond any expectations you may have. read more

Amazing service and DELICIOUS food. First time at Yao's and we got to try the Magical Dining Menu. 4 courses for $40?? Amazing deal. We ordered: MD spicy wontons, crab Rangoons, teres major steak, and black sesame soft serve. Happy hour sticky ribs. Regular entree general Yao's chicken. This is more than enough food for 3 but we were so happy to eat leftovers later in the night. Yao's does get packed after 6pm so the sweet spot to go would be around 5 to enjoy the happy hour, magical dining, and a less busy restaurant. All the food was hot and delicious. Fan favorites were the wontons, general Yao's crab Rangoons, and steak. We're not big dessert people but the soft serve was good too. The smoky salt that came with the steak is AMAZING, we were putting that salt on everything...especially the soft serve. Brought the black sesame flavor to a whole other level. Outstanding ovation for the wontons and crab Rangoons. Wontons were packed with meat and chili oil had the perfect amount of spice. We decided last minute to check this place out for Magical Dining and it ended up being such a great decision and one of our favorite places so far! It's very unassuming as it's located in a strip mall but inside it's cute with a restaurant and large bar area with an open kitchen concept. Instead of real plants they had the Lego botanicals which we loved and all the silverware (including chopsticks) and dishware were very nice. This magical dining menu has a bonus 4th starter option so we had plenty of food, especially since the portions were a decent size. The food was brought out quickly and honestly everything we got was great. Unlike most Chinese restaurants, Yao's isn't afraid to make their dishes a bit spicy. Our server made some great recommendations and we especially loved the truffle noodles, ribs, chimichurri steak, and ice cream. The staff was very attentive, clearing dishes and keeping water refilled. We came late in the evening so at closing time they were cleaning up but steered clear of our booth and didn't make us feel rushed. No notes! Bragging rights, after convincing my Dad he had to try Yaos treated for Magical Dining! I feel like it was a steal. $40 for a 3 course meal and dessert - what a no brainer. Anddd their options are shareable and perfect amount of options. Their fried rice is soooo good! This one was truffle mushroom fried rice and at first I wasn't sure but server told us it's one of her top favs from the menu. I am a mushroom lover and this just made me jelly I dont know how to make it at home. We also got picked the bang bang shrimp (huge) and sticky pork ribs, equally finger licking good. They come with the sauce. Off the Servers recc, for dessert, we chose the black seseme ice cream. I was skeptical at first but decided to go for it and after the 2 first bites I found myself hooked. I came here for the Bite30 menu. Strip mall type location thus parking is easy. Inside, it's a great layout. Feels very clean and modern. Attentive service. For the food I started with the Yao's Baos - steamed bun, char siu pork, cucumber. They were okay, the pork was a bit too chewy to be completely enjoyable. The Three Pigs Fried Rice - char siu pork, chinese sausage, bacon, egg, local corn, scallions was great. Filling to the point where I took about a quarter of it home. To finish the meal I tried the Black Sesame Soft Serve - toasted black sesame, brown sugar crumble. Yeah, I had no clue what that was going to be like and I would not have tried it without the Bite30 menu. Turns out, I'm a fan. It was a great way to finish my first time being here. read more

Magical Dining season 2026 has started & our first stop was YAO. YAO was already on my want to try list & I'm glad I was able to move them to my TRIED & LOVED list. The MD menu was a 4 course meal which included a starter, appetizer, entree, & Dessert. All items were a shareable size & we had allot of food so we def ended up with to go trays. We started with drinks I got the Crouching tiger, hidden dragon which was a gin based drink. It was semi sweet but, good . My husband got the Iron Monkey which was also a gin based drink semi sweet but also good. We moved into ordering our food , for our starters we ordered the firecracker shrimp & chili wontons. The shrimp were huge and the wontons were spicy both were delicious and flavorful. For our appetizers we ordered the Crab Rangoon & Shanghai sticky ribs. For entrees we got General Yao's chicken which came with white rice & the Teres Major Steak which came with asparagus and white rice. The steak took a little longer to come out than the chicken. My Chicken came out a minute or two after my appetizer. Everything again was a sharable size and we were stuffed with plenty left over . The food was delicious. For dessert we ordered the Black Sesame soft serve & the Matcha Panna Cotta. Both I will say were very unique in taste but also, very good. The customer service was spectacular! The ambiance was very busy but they did a great job of checking on customers , keeping our water refilled and making sure we were good. I will definitely be back. This location is very clean and the staff was very nice and helpful as well. I was immediately sat and all the staff worked together to make sure everyone's dining experience is great. I went for bite30 and got the Shanghai sticky ribs, general yao's chicken and black sesame soft serve. My favorite dish was the black sesame soft serve. It was my first time trying this flavor and the crunch of the black sesame and sugar crumble on top was a good contrast to the smoothness of the soft serve. The sticky ribs seemed more of a breaded consistency and it was not my favorite combination with the general yaos chicken, since they had a similar flavor profile. I've visited Yao twice now, and it has easily become one of my favorite spots for Asian cuisine in the Orlando area. It's a smaller, more intimate restaurant, and the service has been excellent both times. The Three Pigs Fried Rice is probably some of the best fried rice I've had. It's packed with char siu pork, Chinese sausage, and bacon, so they definitely do not skimp on the meat or flavor. The fried chicken wings with the char siu glaze are another favorite, and I also really enjoyed the dumplings. Honestly, I haven't tried anything here that I didn't like. The magical dining seas was good we had noodles, ribs and wontons for appetizers, then steak and honey chicken for supper with an add on of three pig fried rice. Glad I finally visited here for lunch. It exceeded my expectations. I mentioned I couldn't eat msg & the server took excellent care of me, guiding me. I ordered a jasmine tea pot with honey. A firecracker shrimp lunch box, but had vegetable lo mein (instead of the egg fried rice). It had fresh crisp green pea pods, & sautéed leeks. Good sauce with ginger. Went for magical dining and it was a disappointment from start to finish. Some of our food came before our drinks. Then they forgot one of our appetizers. Our entrees came over an hour after seated. I had to request they remake my entree because it looked like it had been sitting a while and it was drowning in sauce. Server was visibly upset by my request. By the time they brought it back I just asked for a box and we still had to wait for our dessert. All in all there just over 90 min. Food was fine, neither bad nor worth recommending. Tried this for Bite 30, and I have to say it wasn't the most impressive example of great food to garner repeat customers. We had the edamame and the scallion noodles for apps. The edamame was very good, but despite what others wrote about the noodles, they were kind of boring. The entrees of Yao's chicken and the honey orange chicken tasted identical! Couldn't tell the difference at all! They were ok. The dessert of black sesame soft serve was probably the highlight. Service was good until the end when our server went awol. Another Bite30 in the books! Popped into Yao's for Bite30, and it was a good experience. Upon arrival, the restaurant staff greeted me and quickly seated me for my dinner reservation. They were kind and very attentive throughout my dinner, which is always a great thing. The restaurant itself had a modern feel to it with some traditional Chinese elements. There was ample seating at the bar as well as in the overall main dining area. All that noted, I sat at one of their high-top table options near the window. Now, I can dive into the food. The food was good - at least I enjoyed what I ordered. As mentioned, I came for Bite30, so from that menu, I ordered the Truffle Scallion Noodles for my first course. For my second course, I ordered the Chicken Lo Mein, and for my dessert, I ordered their matcha dessert. Of everything I ordered, I would say the Truffle Scallion Noodles were probably my favorite dish. I really haven't met anything with Truffle in it that I didn't enjoy. The Chicken Lo Mein was average - nothing to truly brag home about. However, I did enjoy it. The matcha dessert was interesting. The citrus shaved ice topping on the dessert was AMAZING, though. I could have eaten a whole cup of that shaved ice. All in all, for a fixed price dining experience, as well as my first dining experience at Yao's, I enjoyed it. What a wonderful find in Oviedo! Located a little further away from the usual Asian restaurant locations, I was quite surprised at how solid the food at Yao's is. The service was friendly and fast and I love the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. I was probably the most surprised by the portion sizes. I am overdue for writing a review for Yaos! This has become our go to Chinese restaurant for an upscale meal in the Oviedo area. They are on point with their food, drinks, and service. They have a lovely atmosphere inside with seating for small or large groups. The bar is a nice option too for a date night or grabbing a quick drink before meeting friends. Their food is absolutely wonderful. I have tried most of the things on their menu and they have all been delicious. One of my favorite dishes is the braised pork clay pot. It has some of the best braised pork I've ever had and it comes with white rice. I also really like the sticky ribs. They're huge and very tender. As an appetizer, I love the chili wontons and wok fire green beans. I wish the pieces of chicken in the orange chicken were a bit smaller (personal preference) but the meat is tender and flavorful. They have some great noodle and rice dishes as well, especially the pig fried rice. They have a happy hour on weekday with a small variety of wine, beer, and cocktails. They have a Malbec that is only $5 for happy hour and still reasonable at normal price. Service has been great on our visits. My family loves coming here. No kids menu that I know of but there is a changing table in the restroom and high chairs! My son is at an age where he tries almost any new food and likes quite a few things on the menu! This place is located next to Arcade Monsters and from what the server said, has been open about a year and half. It is very quiet during lunch time so it was actually the perfect place to catch up with a colleague. I like their lunch menu where you can build a bowl. They also have lunch boxes. The portions are decent! I ate my stir fry chicken and vegetables with a lo mein base for like three days and it was really tasty! I also ordered the fried green beans and they were okay, but the aioli sauce that comes with it is amazing. The pork was quite tasty as well. I think I'd like to try and come here for dinner. From what I understand the ambiance is nice and I like all the small plate options, as I like to share food. I tried this place for the first time during bite30. Yao's is located in an unassuming shopping plaza but is absolutely stunning on the inside! Once we were sat the server greeted us and took our drink orders right away. I started off with an iron monkey (blueberry gimlet) and my second drink was the enter the dragon (dragonfruit cocktail). Both were super delicious but I think the iron monkey slightly won out as my favorite! For my bite30 options I went with the Yao's Baos as my starter, the Truffle Mushroom Rice for my main, and the Matcha Panna Cotta for my dessert. The pork in the Baos was so tender and the sauce it was tossed in was phenomenal! The rice was a HUGE portion so I ended up taking a lot of it home but the truffle wasn't overpowering which was great for me reheating it at work . I'm not really a big matcha girlie but the Panna cotta was creamy, light, and refreshing so I was super pleased with it! Pros: They participated in Bite 30 this past summer. I love that, because it supports our city. Ambiance was very nice. It felt like a fancy grand hall. Tall ceilings and cozy booths. Food was delicious. Definitely better than typical Chinese takeout, and I would say even better than like a PF Chang's. Very good. Cons: Service was sooo slow. It wasn't even that busy, but the servers seemed to be an owner or manager or something, so maybe they're just understaffed. Tips: Get the sticky ribs, for the love the God. Yao's was so needed in Oviedo! The menu is full of unique options, and the interior is beautiful. The staff is so kind, and I appreciated it so much that they were able to change the sauce on the fried tofu so it would be vegetarian for me. We ordered the Shanghai Salad, Fried Green Beans, Fried Tofu (with Sweet & Sour Sauce instead of General Yao's), Chinese Eggplant Claypot, and Honey Orange Chicken. We loved everything, but I especially loved the Chinese Eggplant Claypot. My husband raved about the Honey Orange Chicken. I need to come back to try some of their cocktails! Came to Yao's for the Bite 30 event they were participating in. I love restaurants that participate in Orlando events, and I will support them the best I can. I had pretty low expectations of this place, because Oviedo is a magnet for subpar chains, but no, I was thoroughly, pleasantly surprised. Ambiance inside is absolutely beautiful. A nice bar, a peek into the kitchen, and just a really elegant dining room. The booths were very cozy. I was very comfy in my visit. Service was pretty good. Our server was nice enough. Kind of absent at key moments where we needed refill. And the food really took forever. But hey, it can't be easy to run a restaurant efficiently. It didn't affect my visit. As for the food, there were the three courses, of course. Apps Shanghai Sticky Ribs (St. Louis pork ribs, sweet chili soy, fried garlic, fried shallots). Insanely good. Not to spoil things, but these were the best bite of the night for me. So sticky, and with the fried garlic and shallots on top adding a crunch and a garlicky, oniony smack of flavor, dear Lord. I could live off these. D's Dumplings (seasonal filling). These were also great. One side of the dumpling was soft like it was steamed, and the other side was pan fried to perfection. So many good textures. I'm not sure what the filling was, but the dipping sauce was good. I love a good, sharable app like this. Mains Three Pigs Fried Rice (char siu pork, chinese sausage, bacon, egg, local corn, scallions). Very good. Usually, it's hard to differentiate the different porks in dishes like this, but no, everything was there and obvious. A huge portion. These mains are very sharable, family style. All the pork fats made this very unctuous. Lovely. General Yao's Chicken (tempura). This chicken was tempura fried, leaving a lovely, delicate, ultra crunchy coating. And the General Yao sauce, whatever that is, was really delicious. Just a hint of a kick to it. Delicious. And served with white rice, like all dishes in the world should be. Desserts Black Sesame Soft Serve (toasted black sesame, brown sugar crumble). Very unique! I love the little earthy tone that sesame adds to desserts. Makes it very cravable, not too sweet. The sweetness from the crumble on top makes it a great dessert. Matcha Panna Cotta (orange granita, lime, mints). This was a like palate cleanser type thing. Muted matcha panna cotta, a lovely flavor, with a bright zing from the orange granita, a hint of lime zest. A refreshing way to end a heavy meal. Above all the staff went above and beyond service by providing a friendly environment for us. We were a group of individuals and I would say that the service was impeccable. The ambience is quiet and relaxing, and there was plenty of parking out front. The servers even came back with a plate that they felt needed to be replaced because the quality wasn't up to their standards. We thought it was fine. Honestly already dreaming of returning back to Yao's. I went in a bigger party so we basically ordered everything off the menu it seemed like. Overall the lighting in the restaurant provided an intimate experience for all the guests and the servers were very kind and friendly. The Tuna crudo was one of my favorite small plates because the cilantro sauce it was paired with was such a nice touch. Their fried rice and noodles were cooked to perfection and very flavorful as well. You can never go wrong with a crab Rangoon anywhere and they did it very nicely here where there wasn't an overload of filling in the crust. I love how many different options that their menu offers because it makes it very hard to get bored with the choices and gives you a reason to return to try items you didn't get to the last time. They brought good ol' lo mein anded a personal touch making it super delicious and better quality!
