More specifically their employees Marisa and Jesse were incredibly helpful with picking the perfect dish, providing friendly service, and bumping the best tunes! My daughter and I ate here today (11/7/17) for lunch and we were both very disappointed by our experience! We arrived shortly after they opened and the restaurant was completely empty, should have been our first sign since everything in this area gets slammed for lunch. We ordered the chicken with broccoli and egg drop soup as well as the pad Thai, which I requested to be made extra spicy (it's already listed as a spicy item on the menu). Our soups arrived and we enjoyed the hot and sour soup and the egg drop soup but that's where our enjoyment ended. I got up to ask the waitress/hostess for spicy mustard and she pointed at a refrigerated drink case indicating I could get it myself. Both the duck sauce and the spicy mustard were old and crusty looking (see pic). The food arrived and we were both throughly disappointed with our meals. My pad Thai was not only lacking ANY heat but also lacking ANY flavor. The fried rice was dry and flavorless. My daughters dish was one note and bland. The chicken was of good quality but it didn't help that the egg rolls were filled with only course chopped cabbage and nothing else. This was the most disappointing Chinese food I've had in awhile and I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Hands down Yan's Cafe is the best Chinese restaurant in the area if not the city. I've eaten amazing Chinese food in some of the biggest cities in the country from coast to coast and places in between. It's so good its worth the trip up 400 to try it. We ordered Yans because they deliver and were totally unimpressed. I got my standard Mongolian beef and was disappointed. There was not much flavor and there was no sauce in the dish! Normally I would spoon over the white rice for flavor, but nope. It was so bland. I'm giving them a star because it was fresh. We will be going back to our old favorite. read more

What do you do on a rainy night? Order Chinese of course. I am a very picky Chinese person so I love my food fresh, hot, and not taste frozen out of the freezer (if that makes sense). I ordered my meal from Grubhub and it was nothing less of amazing. Everything was piping hot as if it came straight off the grill. I was very amazed at the perfect amount of seasoning and flavors that had a party in my mouth. I will definitely order again. I had the generals chicken with lo-mein. New try for us and will be our go to for delivered Chinese! We order a lot of pick up food, particularly from mid priced chain steak houses, that typically has to be reheated and loses much quality in the process. We realize not to expect exact quality of any restaurant when not eaten on site, but Yan's was as close as it gets....excellent delivered food...packaged extremely well...amazingly hot upon arrival. I would really like to see this place succeed. Eaten there several times as well as dined inside - and have brought along friends. The food is very good and fresh, They have struggled with special orders. The servers are friendly, but need more experience. I also don't like to hear them being reprimanded from inside the kitchen. The kitchen staff should remain inside unless they want customers seeing food stained t-shirts (which is understandable when one is preparing food). We will give them another try. I think if they had an experienced adult managing the eat-in area, the experience would be much better. For take-out, no problem. read more

This might be the best Chinese I've had down here in Georgia. I ordered a lunch special for $6.95; it came with hunan beef, a choice of white or fried rice and an egg roll. You could even add a soup for $1. Everything on my plate tasted excellent, the portions were nice, and that price is a steal! I also ordered Chinese donuts which were quite tasty and you get a lot! We found Yan's Cafe from looking at online reviews of Chinese restaurants in the Alpharetta area and had 4.5 stars. We give it 5 stars! The sizzling rice soup was awesome and full of flavor. My husband had General Tso's Chicken and said it was excellent. I had the House Singapore Rice Noodle dish, and it was so good. We had this for lunch, and it was so good, we ordered two dishes to go and had it for dinner and then leftovers for lunch the next day. The service we great as well. Our server was very nice.
