Family owned, this small shop does a fantastic job of putting out fast, fresh and fantastic Americanized Chinese food. This place is not fancy. Definitely not for a date or even business lunch. Beer and wine are not available, just cans of soda at the counter. Choosing to dine in will not really bring you joy, but if you are content to grab the food to go, you will be quite happy with what comes inside the traditional folded white takeout boxes. Priced moderately, most entrees are around $8-$10. A couple bucks higher than what you might get at similar style restaurants in Atlanta, but here in Cumming they can get away with it. Got the worst case of food poisoning from here. The food isn't bad but it's not worth getting sick over.

If you need some quick Chinese food, this is a good option! My favorite part about their food is that it comes out piping hot! We watched the waiter deliver food to all of the customers and you can see the steam coming off of everything. :) Would I say that this is my favorite Chinese restaurant, no but occasionally when we need our Chinese fix, we go here. Prices are very reasonable, service is very quick. You don't come here for fine dining, no fancy decor here. I love the chicken wings - crunchy and hot (temperature hot, not spicy hot). Hubby had beef and broccoli. He liked it, a little sweet for me but tasty. They have a busy to go business I think. Lots of folks taking food to go. We will be back. read more

Horrible cold greasy food. The floor and counters looked like they were not cleaned in a couple of days. The employees let small children take food and make a mess unsupervised. Most parents were not even paying attention to their children. The servers had a complete lack of interest. The cashier didn't even look up when announcing the total bill. It's not very often that I write a review on Yelp. However, I have been sick for the last week with a cold and really wanted some hot/sour soup. Our favorite Chinese Restaurant (Dragon Buffet) was closed on Monday evening. So, I decided to try the Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant hot/sour soup. I ordered take out and when I arrived home and opened the container, it was all water with too much rice wine and no tofu. It tasted so disgusting I had to throw it out. I certainly don't know about the rest of their menu, but if this is any indication, I would stay away from Hong Kong Restaurant forever. read more

I love this place. Incredibly low lunch prices, kind owners, dining-in/take-out is very quick and every lunch special comes with a crispy chicken wing and an egg roll. We were out looking to try a new local restaurant, tired of all the chains in the area. We hit the jackpot. From the outside it looks like it is primarily a take out business but there are several tables available inside for dining. We opted to dine in. We ordered crab ragoons (which were perfect!) the dough was sweet, perfectly cooked and the cream cheese filling is made fresh in house. We also ordered spring rolls and the House Fried Rice. The rice had chicken, shrimp, pork & crab meats. It was all cooked fresh in viewing distance. The staff/family here are so nice, friendly and informative . First time ordering from Hong Kong, moved here from California and this is the best and very close to the chinese food we had in California. Tried other Chinese restaurants here and none came close to Hong Kong. We had egg drop soup, orange chicken, generals chicken, Szechwan chicken and crab rangoon. 9/11/18 Ordered take out tonight. Chicken Chop Suey was a gloppy gluey mess completely INEDIBLE! One bite and spit it out. House Lo Mein , the only flavor was a heavy smoke flavor COMPLETELY INEDIBLE! and a Qt of Egg Drop Soup which was a Orange OILY and a sickening taste, that I immediately spit out before I VOMITED. The crispy noodles were STALE and COMPLETELY TASTELESS. Cost $25.63 for this crap ( I can not with a good conscience call this food! This all went went straight into the garbage along with my money. I've been eating here for years, love the food and the service. They always remember me when I come in and greet me with a smile.

So the food is good. Get it as take away and go home to eat it in front of the TV. Eating in the restaurant is awkward at best. It's small and noisy inside this restaurant. It's almost overwhelmingly noisy. They leave tables dirty for a while because they get so busy. You can't be guaranteed that you will find a clean place to sit. Things are cramped in the restaurant. Not too terrible when it's slow but when it's busy and people are standing around waiting on food things get weirdly uncomfortable to me. Their Happy Family entree is really quite good as it contains shrimp but it's only offered as a combo at lunch. Most of the dinner combos are super high sugar choices which I try to avoid. So at dinner I have to order entree and fried rice separately. Other places will let me order something not listed as a combo If there is something listed as a combo. I guess I just wish there was more savory items on the dinner combo. Soda selection is quite limited and served in cans as normal for a location like this one. I end up ordering ice water due to this issue and it's not. Problem. Like I said before the food is quite good. Everything I have ordered has been wonderful. I really recommend that happy family entree. Most of my favorites have been really well done. The prices are quite decent. I just recommend this place for take away more than dine in due to the constraints of the location. That and the lack of savory dinner combo options are the main reason for the three stars. read more

Worst Chinese Food Experience in Cumming. I really wanted to like this place but it doesn't hold a candle to Happy Family. Unfortunately HF was closed on Monday so we went to a Hong Kong instead. Our Mongolian Chicken was surprisingly mostly all Onions with hardly any actual meat! Worst part is that it was swimming in sauce like a Soup . Where as the actual soup we ordered- the korean soup was bland and slightly fishy. Our first and last time eating from there for sure. The low mien was decent. Got all three things for about $29. I tried this for the first time because my usual place was closed. Though i wasn't impressed by the way they make Crab Rangoon, I was pleasantly surprised with the Shrimp Egg Foo Young! They make their egg foo young sooooo much better than my usual place, they put the patties underneath tons of this fantastic flavorful thin gravy (more like a sauce) with lots of veggies on on top! I had hoped to find a jewel in the rough when I came upon this unassuming restaurant off Atlanta Rd. I left sorely disappointed and a bit angry at what I was served. As somewhat of a connoisseur of Asian appetizers, I did my due diligence by researching restaurants in the area and purposely chose this one because of the good reviews. My husband and I ordered two egg rolls and an order of fried pork wontons. What we got were two spring rolls and what I can only describe as a mangled mess of tough, double-fried wontons filled with an unidentifiable dried substance. It was very obvious to me that these so-called wontons had been cooked previously and refried later. I seriously thought I might break a tooth because they were so hard to bite into. I ordered General Tso Chicken for lunch and was hoping this place was good since their lunch special is only $5 and includes an egg roll and a chicken wing haha. But unfortunately the General Tso's was horrible. There was WAY TOO MUCH BATTER. I've eaten at a lot of Chinese places before and this was the first time I couldn't tell it was chicken by looking at it. Plus the sauce was pretty tame and unflavorful. This restaurant is a little hole in the wall place but it's our go to for Chinese food in Cumming. We've eaten at a lot of the other Chinese restaurants in the area and we think this one has the best food. We've only done take away. The portions are plentiful and the ingredients are well proportioned. Like there's enough meat in the dishes to be satisfying and there's a nice variety of vegetables. The sauces are very tasty. On the down side, the peas in the Shrimp with Lobster Sauce are hard and dry. Also, the won ton soup is not very good. The wontons are always either undercooked or overcooked. We ordered tonight after not coming here for a few years (it use to be our favorite place) - 15 minute wait and almost everything was fresh and SO good. This is a whole in the wall find. They have the best fried rice anywhere....hands down. Many New Yorkers and San Francisco natives have agreed with me. The Lo Mein is also awesome! Other items are good...and I would say better than most Chinese places, but the Lo Mein and the Fried Rice ROCK! If you order House Special...make sure you order without crab...they use imitation crab and it totally ruins the whole dish...the chiciken, beef, pork and shrimp are all good though! Best restaurants are whole in the wall places...none of them have grat atmosphere, but it's clean and consistently good. Family run...always the same people working there. read more

Okay, I ate there last night, and learned that Hong Kong, our go-to place apparently has NEW OWNERS. So you won't see Tom on the wok any more. Ugh....no longer good since new owners took over unfortunately. First time I went I figured it was a fluke so I gave it another chance. The peas in the fried rice were rock hard. The lo-mein was sticky and clumped together in one huge ball and tasted doughy. The Mongolian beef was rubbery and the soup was luke warm. It was so bad we took it all back and they gave us a refund.
