I'm always in the market for a nice Chinese restaurant. So when I was running some errands last week and drove by Golden Place it was like, Hmm I just had to give them a try asap. Upon entering I was immediately impressed with the cleanliness and lovely oriental decor. After perusing their menu, which was loaded with many delicious choices for app and main entrées I decided on some Egg Rolls, and some spicy Kung Pao Shrimp. Egg Rolls were crispy on the outside and warm and tender on the inside and their dipping sauces were delicious. Sweet and oh so spicy (which I love). The Kung Pao shrimp was amazing. Fresh veggies, perfect seasoning and the shrimp were excellent. And I can't remember the last time my food came out this hot. . (as in temperature). Very refreshing. Flavorful tea and the standard fortune cookie made for a very pleasant and tasty experience. read more

For 15 years, I have visited this place. The owners have since retired and the new family are have taken over with still the same flavor, warm smiles and crazy accents. Love this place and is my favorite Chinese restaurant. I often try to compare other places when traveling and yearning for Asian persuasion but always come short of the Golden Dragon in Cumming, Ga. Been in this area since 96, and Golden Palace opened a few years later when the shopping center was created. Been a customer on and off since it opened..gosh must have been 98-ish??. Noticed quality going down in later years and stopped going around '22 after bad eat in experiance. Went back today Dec 2025 for 1st time in a while. Ate in. My usual pork EggFooYoung was very good, wifes shrimp fried rice and all the sides we ordered were also excellent and hot. Service was good and friendly. Last we went in 22, the guy serving almost seemed annoyed we were there..lol. I didn't know they had new owners until I googled while eating. New owners and staff are doing great job. read more

Let me start off by saying I haven't e at Chinese food in some time. We really liked the soup, San Shan was delicious. The rest of the dInner was average, pork ribs and rest of the met was on the chewy side, not great flavors, but not bad overall. We ate in, although it looks like they have a consistent take-away following. The service was attentive and polite. Parking is easy as it's located inside a shopping plaza. Atmosphere has the hint of more upscale experience as you walk in and take in the space, traditional decor, linen napkins etc., but as you are there you start to notice the wear on things,the plates are worn, a little chipped at times, placemats were a piece of paper, white copy paper etc. could use a little updating. All in all. We'll stick with a take-away soup when the hankering hits. read more

Never asked if we wanted anything to drink. Then another family came in and sat beside us. He was just as negative towards them and even took the menu away from the man's son because he was taping on it. The man looked at us and at the same time we all said "rude". The Beef Fried Rice and Vegetable Fried Rice is the best I have ever had. So glad my sister went to a party where they served food from here. She couldn't stop talking and raving about how amazing it was and I have confirmed it is delicious. Will be order more soon. read more

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. They are a sorry excuse for a restaurant. I've given them two opportunities to prove me wrong. Once my wife and I were seated, we were never asked for our drink order. Once we did, they only brought out one tea cup for two people. I had to ask another server for an additional cup. Finally after we ordered and waited, the hostess brought out one entree without bringing our soup first. They took the meal back, and a server was bringing out soup and another server said it was another tables soup for a party that had come in later. It's evident they do not know what they're doing and are not making an attempt to be any better. read more

The food is okay, but they like to update the tip you give them. I gave them a 23% tip and apparently that wasn't good enough for them and they updated the tip and charged my card more then it was supposed to be. read more

Wow this place deserves negative stars. The service was horrible! Server told me to go to Kroger to get my own vinegar and told me I was trouble for asking. I told them my scallops were raw (slimy and translucent). They argued that it was cooked and I didn't know what I was talking about. I went to get 3 lunch specials. I was totally disappointed. I got pork with vegetables and they gave me 4 tiny pieces of meat. I got the happy family... the shrimp was like mashed potatoes (rotten), the 1 scallop I got was rotten too. The chicken and beef tasted old and spoilt too. The general Tso's chicken was a bunch of itty bitty pieces of chicken covered in batter. I even had to throw all the fried rice from the 3 meals back in a pan and re-fry it to make it edible. I've been eating here and bringing home food for my family for almost 20 years. People seem upset that the waiter and the lady who take orders aren't more chatty and friendly. They are the owners of the restaurant and speak Chinese. Are you fluent in Mandarin? Feel free to chat them up. This isn't a chain restaurant where your teenage kids work. So if they don't stand around and talk to you it isn't because they are being rude. Another thing about this restaurant is its business is probably 90% take out. You will never find more than 1 or 2 groups of people eating inside. Usually you will find none. But just sit by the front door for 20 minutes and watch the dozens of people come in and out of there picking up food orders. The lady at the front desk (or man if she's off that day) are busy the entire time answering the phone and taking orders. So even if they were fluent in English they wouldn't have time to talk to you more than 30 seconds. There are no waitresses or waiters here. So if you sit down at a table don't expect the "waiter" to pay a lot of attention to you. He or she is busy at the front taking orders. Like I said this is mostly a take out place. If you WANT to eat inside be patient with THEM. If you want a Coke or tea ask for it otherwise they'll assume you just want water. If you're high maintenance and demand lots of attention and special orders and stuff on the side and extra to go cups and happy meals for the kids, sorry, you are at the wrong place. This is not Chucky Cheese. But if you are nice to the owners and have been going there for years they WILL talk to you and will ask about your kids and ask how you are doing, they might even remember your name. Try being nice to them for a change. It makes a huge difference when you are nice to people, especially when they are doing all the work to prepare your meal and serve you. As for the food. It's Chinese-American food. If you want more Americanish Chinese food go to Panda Express, that's the McDonalds of Chinese food. They run you through there like an assembly line. You want Authentic Chinese food, well, go to Chamblee or Doraville. You can get 100% authentic Chinese food there, if you can read Mandarin. But if you just want Chinese-American food then this is the place. There are about a half dozen things I get their all the time. There are a lot of things I've tried that I wasn't impressed with. Everyone's taste is different. If you try something and don't like it, don't order it again. Don't get angry and write a nasty review. Try something else. The Mongolian Beef is good. I don't like onions so I order without. You might find the onions overwhelming, so do like I do and order without onions. The Egg Drop soup is good. The Hong Kong Noodle Soup is good. The Sesame Chicken is good. The General Tso's Chicken is good. There Po Po Platter is a good variety. Their fried rice is good, especially the Shrimp Fried Rice and Chicken Fried Rice. Once you find a handful of favorites you don't need to look at the rest of the menu unless you're bored. Is the quality always 100%? Once in a while the Mongolian Beef might not have quite as strong a flavor. Maybe they used less sauce. Depends on the chef I suppose. But is your steak cooked to perfection every time you go to Outback or is it sometimes a little dry? Of course not. Nobody's perfect. But most of the time their food is perfectly satisfactory and worth getting. Again, just be patient and nice to the owners. Being rude to the owners isn't going to get you anywhere. read more

Will not eat here anymore. My wife and I order at least 2x a week and made a conscious effort to give them more business during this pandemic. No more!! Yesterday we order the same order as we do WEEKLY but got home to find the order was wrong. My wife returns there to get the order corrected and is told we have to pay a minor (and petty ) difference because the RUDE person taking the order was certain he heard the order correct. Well, if I had not have left a generous tip (on a take out order) well exceeding the order I'd understand. I wanted to like it, I truly did. I love Asian dishes and the proximity of this restaurant to the UPS store that I have to go to daily (literally 2 doors down) made me want to love it so that I could get take-out often for lunch. I tried, but no dice, sorry! The chicken was riddled with gristle and fat and that is a no-no for me since your prep crew should be trimming the proteins before they are ever cooked. Portions are great and prices is cheap. Could work on flavoring but the food was more than good to be picky especially when given a lot. Never sat down to eat, only ordered for take out but I love that everything is extremely hot and fresh as soon as I come home.
