So I don't really understand the others rating of this place...we went for Easter breakfast and was not even close to being disappointed...How many places do you go to the owner actually come to your table and greets you...the breakfast at this place is top notch real ingredients not greasy and actually has taste...and the coffee isn't bad either....we will be going back for a visit.

    Country fried steak and eggs!

Yankee Kitchen has some good breakfast! 7:30 a. m. on a Springy Spring morning, two eggs, country fried steak, rye toast, and a big serving of Yankee Kitchen home fries! Which, you can get green peppers added for an extra .40 cents. Wife had a grilled cheese on Texas Toast. And she asked for and got it nice and brown-ily toast-woasty. Yippee, I mean, grilled cheese for breakfast? Commie! I on the other hand got a big delicious country fried steak with snausage gravy and rye toast and homey fries. And two eggs over medium. The eggs were perfect-o! Little brown on the outside. Oh, and the whole thing was on warm plates! Restaurants that don't have plate warmers are depraved loons. And I mean that. Cold plates for food that is supposed to be served hot, well, only commie places do that. Anyways, what was I talking about? Oh yeah, delicious hot breakfasts served on warmed plates that makes me happy! And Yankee Kitchen hits it solid. The country fried steak was perfectly cooked. And I mean PERFECTLY! Crispy, perfect amount of sausage gravy. Buttered rye toast. Wifey said best coffee she can remember eating out. Which I am sure is not a literal statement. But was for sure double def great. I give a hearty, happy, GREAT JOB! To Yankee Kitchen for breakfast.

The food was really good and really cheap. (Only $1 for a coffee with your breakfast) The omelets aren't huge but they are flavorful. Would have given it a five but our waitress didn't seem interested in our table at all. She grunted every time we asked for something.

Bacon deep fried to a crisp.

Not the best place for breakfast, and certainly not the worst. For those people who rate them lowly and bitch about their cash only policy, here's some news for you. They make these things called "automated teller machines", or "ATM" for short. They dispense this stuff called "money", or as it's also known as "cash". Credit card transactions cost the business owner 2-3% for each transaction, so because of your laziness and inability to carry cash, we're all paying higher prices for our food. You should always have some cash on hand anyways in case the card readers don't work, or for a place that takes only cash. Service was attentive without being annoying. Our server kept the drinks filled and brought ketchup and hot sauce for our breakfast unprompted. Two things that prevented me from rating them higher. One, for a place that's known in this area for allegedly having the best home fries in the area, I believe they're severely lacking. The best home fries are cooked on a grill with a mixture of crispy and well done pieces. The potatoes here are done to a consistency of boiled potatoes, as if you were getting ready to make mashed potatoes. They're kind of soft and soggy, so if you're looking for crispy home fries, look elsewhere. Secondly, the bacon appears to be deep fried, see the picture I attached. While bacon isn't exactly a health food, deep frying it doesn't help. It ends up so crispy that it disintegrates into a bunch of pieces, as if you took a hammer to peanut brittle. Bacon should be crispy, but grilled, not deep fried. Hell, you can get decent consistency on bacon in a microwave oven. That's all, folks. Give it a shot and see what you think.

It was 3pm when I walked in, and 30 minutes later after two beers walked out with a full rack, extra sauce. Best thing about the ribs? They have that light char taste that goes right through the meat down to the bone. The girl tending bar was great, took good care of my order, and that order was ready just as the beer went empty, so great service. The Oaks has been right here for many many years, pretty eclectic crowd, but mainly just a joint to enjoy the food, have a drink or a beer, and talk to folks. The inside is a nice mish mash of old photos, art that is more thoughtful than you'd expect, and a long wall length bar, that hits the far wall and becomes a row of booths coming back up the other wall. Plenty of good parking, and through the warm months they got outdoor bands, so, something for everyone. Oh, and it's a good place to just be. If you're alone, or killing time, perfect spot. Seriously. The pic is what I do once I get the ribs all the way back to New Castle, toss in a casserole put in the oven wrapped in foil at @240 degrees for 30-40 minutes, gets them right at perfect.

Not 5 minutes after we place an order the table behind us gets a full menu, with burgers and sandwiches on it. Am I a bit PO'd.... YEP Also the waitress doesn't smile. She looks miserable, geez, at least make an effort! So I ordered chicken and waffles and my husband ordered a few wings. As for the food..... The chicken tenders are AAMazing! Waffle is good and the hubs like the ginger lime wings although a small side of sauce and a few celery and carrots would make a better presentation. But for the diamond in the rough. I can only assume it was the manager/owner that delivered our food. I asked why we had a limited menu as I read here on Yelp I should have the prime grilled cheese. This man offed it to me on the house now that is some great customer service. I had to decline bc we have such a long drive ahead of us but he hands down was so kind. So I'm going with 4 stars. To sum this up I would happily come back just bc of his kind service! As we were finishing up Doug the owner came by again and he is a great reason to visit this place. He definitely has a heart for customer service!! Thanks Doug

What looks like a nondescript bar with a modern twist is actually a goldmine of appetizers. My family of five descended upon the place today and we ordered a slew of appetizers. Let me tell you, it was a feast for the ages. The place was immaculate, the staff was warm and welcoming, and the service was impeccable. I had a hard time choosing a favorite, but if I had to pick, it would be the Brussels sprouts and crab Rangoon dip, closely followed by the lime wings. We're all from different parts of town, but we'll definitely be back. It's a hidden gem worth discovering.
