Here's a photo of our ice ramp to the room.

We stayed in a fire-spa suite room recently. Let me preface what I'm going to say by saying that the Yankee Inn is an affordable and clean place to stay in the area. I have stayed there before and was happy with my experience. Well this time I have some legitimate complaints. This hotel is on very busy Rt. 7. I don't know what possessed them to put their most expensive room class at the very far end of the secondary building, basically butt-up to the highway; but that's the room we got. Not only did we listen to the highway all day and night, but there were people cutting through the grassy area outside the room on foot because there are no sidewalks on that part of Rt. 7. There was no heat in the room. I guess we were supposed to compensate by using the fireplace? It cost us over $100 at the Stop & Shop up the street for enough wood to keep the room warm enough. In addition to having no heat, there is a hole in the wall of the room to accommodate the air conditioner. It's basically like having the window open a crack through the entire winter, because you can see right outside through the edges of the air conditioner. So in addition to the fact that we had no heat, we also had the equivalent of a window cracked. They gave us $70 off our room total to compensate for the heat, but if they want to re-brand as a Bed and Breakfast, they need to ensure that the most expensive rooms on the property are not just a dumpy motel room by the side of the road with no heat. As if that wasn't enough, they did not clean the walkway to our room during a snow/ice storm at all - it became an ice ramp. Not only do they not clean it off or put any salt down, they also didn't leave any salt for us to put down. We shouldn't have to ask for a room away from the busy highway, with heat, or beg them to keep our walkway safe so we can enter and exit our room without breaking our necks. For $200 a night, every guest expects heat in the room, for the maintenance people on the property to clean the walks, and to not have to listen to the highway 10 feet from their head. I checked the rates for the Hilton Garden Inn down the street, and you can definitely get a king room for $150 a night. That hotel has the advantage of not being directly on the side of the road. The Hampton Inn is slightly cheaper than the Hilton. If you're expecting more than a side of the highway motel, I suggest you book your stay at either of these places. Because the room was located in a different building than the main building, if we wanted to use the pool or go to breakfast we had to walk across the parking lot in the cold. I looked forward to using the pool at this facility but in winter it's not practical to walk or even drive across the parking lot to the main building in your swimming clothes. This is a good option if you're looking for a slight upgrade from the quintessential motel-by-the-road; but if you want more, stay at the Hilton or Hampton Inn. The bed and room had the potential to be nice; but only if there's working heat. Also the jacuzzi tub jets were brown from lack of cleaning. One night they spit out someone else's hair into our bath. I recommend the hotel invest in a product called "Oh Yuck" to clean out the inside of the jacuzzi jets, and a good scrub brush to clean the outside of the jets. I know it's hard to get into a tub and scrub the Jets with a scrub brush, but it is truly necessary in room 102. They should be white, not brown. I usually stay at the Hampton Inn because they meet my standards, I made an exception for this trip.

It's a solid three stars, but not quite a four. It's a standard motel, think Days Inn, Best Western, etc. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We were probably there for no more than 14 hours. It was a decent place to spend a single night when most places in the area required a two night minimum. The continental breakfast was better than expected, with Belgian waffles, hard boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, juices, cereals, fruits...you get the idea. My only complaint is that I had asked for a king-sized room with a view. We did get the king-sized bed, but no view. I will post a few pics that I took. They probably didn't want to waste the room with a view on someone only staying one night. I would stay here again if in the area.

(+) Clean, friendly, comfortable bed w extra pillows, free first set of logs for fireplace, DVD player, with walking distance to a great Chinese place (Panda House) and PriceChopper/RedBox and short drive to Lee Outlets. We didn't have time to check out pool and breakfast but loved the hot tub w jets. (-) Smelled a bit musty but we brought candles! The hot tub made an annoying noise but wasn't too too bad. Bathroom needs an upgrade (70's pink tile). Make sure to get your room AWAY from the road - it got noisy at times (We stayed in room 102). Ice machine is a walk as it's in the main building. All in all, a relaxing enjoyable stay! :)

Very nice hotel w/ free breakfast located a five minute drive from center of Lenox. Staff were terrific and rooms are reasonably priced.

Pretty horrible experience. The air conditioner in the room was unbearable. Very uncomfortable bed and sheets.

Very friendly at check-in and answered all my questions during my stay, always with a smile on her face. My room was beautiful. I chose room 25 (Vivian) on the 2nd floor of the main house. While it's a small room, it was cozy and quite lovely. I spent some quiet time writing at the desk, and later enjoyed the fireplace with a Duraflame log provided by the inn. They also provide a free bottle of wine, which was waiting for me in my room. The next morning, hot breakfast was waiting in the dining area downstairs. There were several options, which I appreciate having a choice. The pumpkin French toast casserole, seasoned potatoes, and bacon were superb. A great way to start the day! I loved my stay so much that I'm returning in January for another night!

We were a bit apprehensive when we heard about the new ownership, but thankfully, much of the charm remains intact. The bar now uses a Bartesian machine, which makes good cocktails, though I can see it becoming cumbersome if multiple guests arrive at once. Breakfast is always wonderful with a variety of entrées and sides. My only wish? That they bring back the specialty coffee machine--I miss those cappuccinos! Fortunately, their excellent selection of Harney & Sons teas helps make up for it. Already looking forward to our next visit!

As a…read moreformer Diamond and now a Gold member of the Hilton Honors program, I have a certain amount of loyalty to the ever-expanding Hilton brands and have probably stayed in around 100 Hampton Inns over the years. This one is a mediocre example of these trusty motels. It's neither terrible or great. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable and everything works. But the room decor and design is dated and seems to have been been designed and decorated by someone without much architectural or interior design training. Frankly, the room was sort of ugly and a little depressing. The staff was okay, not particularly good or bad. The breakfast ladies were nice, though. However, the complimentary breakfast was somewhat below average for a Hampton, especially since the waffle makers were out of order and the selection of hot food (sausages, bacon, eggs, etc.) and other items was limited. Also, the location of this Hampton was a little odd, up a short drive from the main road and not visible from the highway. Due to all this, I would definitely take a look at the Courtyard by Marriott that is a couple of miles away. The prices (around $200 including taxes) are about the same, and while I didn't actually go into the Courtyard property, it sure looked more appealing than this older Hampton.

As a Hilton Gold member, I wanted to stay within the family and this was about the only option with another Hilton property nearby under significant offseason reservations. Using the Hilton App, I avoided the front desk experience with my room ready when requested for 3PM check in. However, when told the room number via the app notification prior to arrival, it changed at check in which could have been embarrassing if not noticed at the time of using the keyless entry via the app. The room was clean, but the view of the AC units on the roof of the first floor was hardly the view of the Berkshire woods I would have preferred. Lesson learned, next time I will choose my own room via the app. Sheets were clean, but the top sheet seemed ill fitting and came off two corners during the night exposing the mattress which nobody wants to experience. Towels were surprisingly soft showing that they were relatively new and clean. Unfortunately, I needed to leave early in the morning before the complimentary breakfast was ready for service, but trust it would be of the expected quality. I was able to grab a hot beverage for the road.

The staff proved to be uniformly pleasant people, always helpful. The public spaces -- the dining areas and especially the recently refurbished parlor rooms which are stocked with drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the late afternoon -- are a genuine delight. So much is good here. But we have given the inn four stars not five because of the disappointing breakfasts. We were served very overcooked casseroles, overcooked scrambled eggs, grossly undercooked bacon and rather sad bits of yogurt. They really need some improvements here. That said -- and we know it requires us to be honest -- we would definitely look forward to returning with fingers crossed for some improvements in the breakfasts. And yes, 33 Main is on the pricey side, but it's high season for Tanglewood -- a very short drive away -- and given the quality here we think it's well worth considering a splurge.

Friendly, professional, smart and charismatic, we are taking about a top talent in a tough industry. The Inm is beautiful, well appointed and located in a prime location. Park your car and walk everywhere, including Tanglewood if you are so inclined (30 minutes each way). The standard rooms are TINY, but the grounds, lobby, fire pit and front porch give you no reason to be in iyour room other than sleep or shower. Speaking of which, you will laugh out loud when you see how small the bathrooms are in the regular rooms. The bathroom photos on their website are not the bathroom you will get in a standard king. You will get a phone booth with water. CONS Breakfast is a moon launch, get this poor girl some help. Put out a self serve pot of coffee with to go cups for early risers and leave it out all morning. She will love this idea, trust me. Eggs and toast were ice cold when they finally arrived, so we skipped breakfast the next morning as she was buried yet again. The bar was completely overwhelmed both nights with a large wedding and made it near impossible for anyone else to get a drink. We are talking 20 minutes due to the complexity of their cocktail program. Like everyone else, he was very hospitable, but cannot handle the bar stools, plus all of the dining room and outside cocktails on his own. Get him some help. The Inn would also benefit from an ice water station, especially on these scorching hot days. Your bartender and servers will also thank you. Lastly and the real reason for dropping a star is that we were checked into a dirty room at 3:30pm. At 600.00 per night, this is a fatal flaw and should have never happened. Never.
