A crowd pleaser for sure. Not amazing to rave about or to cross town for. But I nonetheless am glad to have Yang's Kitchen in the neighborhood and will be splitting my Chinese fix between Yang's and Shanghai Cafe. Definitely worth a try. I agree with the other reviews that the dishes are not particularly spicy, but you can add some on there from the table condiments. As for the comparison with Yea's Wok, I will never go back to Yea's because I find that place to be barely edible, borderline garbage - but that's a rant for a different post. read more

Update: They have a new menu with more pictures! Came back and asked for 5 star spice level and we are satisfied. They have a dish called Tofu Fish with Gravy. The portion is huge with fish and tofu. It's different than the traditional "boiled fish" but we like it better because there is less oil. read more

You know, it takes guts to open a Chinese restaurant near one of the best around... We wanted to get some food from the OTHER Chinese restaurant nearby, but, the wait was 30 minutes. We didn't want to wait, so, I suggested to my husband that we should try out the NEW Chinese place. Well, much to his reluctance, we decided to give Yang's a try - So glad that we did! All we ordered was the Spicy Garlic Chicken. It was SO good! The sauce was definitely spicy, but, so tasty! I was eating spoonfuls of the sauce once the chicken was all gone. Ha, ha. The only thing I would have a (minor) complaint is that there was not much chicken, so, one dish was really not enough to feed both my husband & me. (There were plenty of veggies in it though - some I did not know what they were though!) So, in summary, even after his hesitance to try somewhere new, my husband really enjoyed Yang's as well! We are excited to try more dishes from them in the future. And, we also hope business picks up for them because they are so darn good! read more

I went to this place on a random weekday, because my husband and I were hungry and wanted to try this place. It was pretty dead - only two other parties were eating dinner at around 6:30-7pm. The service was quick, and the food came out quite fast. Unfortunately, the food didn't have much flavor. We've had similar dishes at other restaurants, but this place was a disappointment. UPDATE - got takeout today. Egg Flour Soup is incredible! It's very creamy and has corn in it for a wonderful flavor!! The cup size is generous and easily enough for two people. Highly recommend!! I've been getting food to go from here since the week they opened. Everything is delicious. I just ordered the orange chicken which is on special this week for $9.99 and I have to say it is outstanding. The best orange chicken I've ever had. I stopped going to Yea's wok across the street to give these guys business. At this point I'm supporting the under dog restaurants only and Yang's kitchen is my calling. We order take out at least once a week from Yang's. I listened to Derek's review and tried Szechuan beef brisket. OMG, it was divine. It reminds me of the Vietnamese dish called "Bo Kho" but without carrots and more spicy. My second favorite is Fish with Tofu in Szechuan sauce. Kung pao chicken is ok. I'd give 7.5/10 for this dish. My family loves their shrimp fried rice. Tonight I'll try the hot boiled fish and will report back at a later time. But it seems like the majority of the reviewers likes this dish. Me and my husband had the pleasure of trying this business tonight. We had the Green Onion Pancakes which were very tasty and served with a good savory sauce. Then I got my Honey Walnut Prawns which were the best I've had in a very long time-they were very fresh and coated with a fluffy fried batter even the walnuts were scrumptious!! I ordered Mongolian beef lunch combo. They gave me a choice of soup (you have to bring own container) and rice , a spring roll, and Mongolian beef. Unfortunately, the beef was too chewy and no taste. I tried many different Chinese restaurants but the beef is not tenderized or cheap one they are using or beef was in the freezer for long time to dehydrated. Don't be deterred by the decor (or lack of) at first! I can imagine some good old fashioned Chinese chef opening a small simple eatery trying to survive the very competitive restaurant business in Bellevue area! If you order Chili Pepper Intestines (尖椒肥腸), you'll see what I mean. The intestines got the exact perfect textures - crunchy outside, not dry, and tender inside, not gooey. It's flavorful and spicy with the right accents of green peppers and celeries. It's a difficult dish to prepare which really showcases the chef's ability and experiences. Must order if you dare! Very first time trying this restaurant. Never even got to the actual food. Placed an online order. Husband went to pick up and they hand him the wrong order without verifying his name, address, phone or order. Called to ask for a refund. They laughed and said "oh yeah the other people want to know where their order is". He then stated we could drive back and return the food. What are they going to do with returned food? Resell it? This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in my neighborhood. Very friendly service! The fried rice is not oily and I love that they have 1-5 spicy levels! Level 3 is perfect for me! I love their shaved noodles too especially in their soups. The vegetable soup was delicious. I wish they would add more vegetables in addition to cabbage, onion and broccoli. I have here many times and over all the food is really good. I have gotten both from a takeout standpoint and also ordered in house. Every experience has been good. The only comment I would say is that the potstickers are not the best and don't seem to be made in house. We were pleasantly surprised by the quick service and food quality at this new neighborhood restaurant. Our server was also really helpful and recommended us to increase the heat level for the dishes after knowing that we like spicy food. Being right across from Yea's Wok, who has been well established and loved in the neighborhood, Yang's has to do much more to impress me. I made it in right before they close the lunch special and ordered the Mongolian Beef. For $8.95, it came with a cup of hot and sour soup, a scoop of steamed rice and the beef. The food served very very very quickly, within few minutes after ordered, but came out steaming hot, so I know it was made fresh. It even came before the soup, :-). The taste was okay, a little on the sweet side but none of the spiciness like this dish should have. A little disappointed but to be fair, it was ok, not bad, just too many onions and not enough of beef. For the same price, Yea's served with 2 fried wontons, bigger portion of beef on a bed of fried vermicelli, more flavorful and 2 scoops of rice plus a cup of soup. I'm hesitated to return for their lunch special with their competitor right across but I might try their dinner menu someday. Their dinning room looks clean and the servers were friendly. read more

On January 31, 2019 I went to Yang's Kitchen again this time with more friends for dinner. You can order the mouth watering chicken which is off the menu if you order it a day ahead. We had: mouth watering chicken, beef brisket, fried intestines, Sliced Fish in Hot & Spicy Gravy, Dry Cooked String Bean w/ Garlic. The verdict: -mouth watering chicken 3/5 (Not your typical mouth watering chicken dish. The texture was good but the spice was just spicy oil. I would not recommend ordering this again) -Sichuan beef brisket in hot pot(small one). 4/5. Beef was tender. -Fried intestines (I don't eat intestines so my friends ate it all up. They liked it enough. Based on what they said I would give 3/5. They said they prefer the non fried intestines dish. The Asian American guy who was with us loves spicy food and he said it wasn't spicy enough for him and the waitress said next time they can make it spicier. For me I found the spice level was good enough). -Sliced Fish in Hot & Spicy Gravy 3.5/5 (I like the Fish and Tofu In Hot and Spicy Gravy better) -Dry Cooked String Bean w/ Garlic. 4.5/5 (I wish the portion was just a tad bit bigger) I'm not a big fan of their hot and sour soup. Worst Chinese food I've ever eaten. Service was friendly and restaurant seemed clean but does not make up for the bad food. The chicken in the fried rice was bizarrely soft to where we didn't think it was chicken at all. The hot sour soup was overly gelatinous. Even the water tasted bad. The spring rolls tasted as one would expect but it was served on a bed of cabbage that was already browning. I don't think this place will be able to stay in business. read more
