Probably the best quality you can get for Chinese food here. It's like novel but higher end but still super affordable. Prices were on the lower end of $20-30 if you get just enough per person + dessert (pineapple bun). I split 8 pork xiaolongbao, 6 shengjianbao/pan fried pork dumplings, 3 beef wasabi pastries, and a seafood sauté which was just the right amount of food for 3 people, and we added pineapple bun on top of that for a total of $78 before tax. I don't think anything was ridiculously good, but everything was very satisfying. service was quick and respectful. I thought it was weird they walked around promoting their pineapple buns to each table but it was worth it. pan fried dumpling: pretty good crunch but no crisp, lots of soup, meat is a bit hard for Chinese standards. came in 5-10 mins first Seafood saute was pretty good but a bit raw for me. I think there was about 10 pcs of shrimp and 10 pcs of scallop, and the overall portion was a bit small. came like 7 mins after the pan fried dumplings w xiaolongbao xiaolongbao: lots of juice, got tired of it fast as it's basic. beef wasabi pastries: 7 mins after the xiaolongbao and sauté, wasabi flavor was not bad at all even though I hate wasabi. Not a lot of beef but the flakiness of the pastry was really fun and it was nice to try it. Slightly sweet glaze on the top was a nice touch Out waiter forgot about our pineapple buns so they came after 20 mins but it's chill, they're small but so good. The custard has actual pineapple and the top crust is actually a little crispy. The bun itself doesn't have that classic pineapple bun flavor but everything else makes up for it especially how soft it is. Super yummy chili oil was very standard and i wouldn't buy a jar of it Ambiance is nice, love the glass showing the kitchen as it reminds me of food joints in China, it's just hella crowded at the entrance but once you sit down it's fine.

Dumplings were all juicy and thin skinned. Food was incredibly well priced for how high quality it all was. There was a wait but it went super fast. Service was friendly and efficient. Will definitely be going back to try some other non dumpling things.

After a long discussion, we decided that this is the best taiwanese dumpling place we've been so far! We ordered WAY too much food but we finished it because it was THAT good. I'm not usually a fan of garlic noodles, but my friends and I killed it! Cucumbers (off menu) were fresh and crunchy, the dumplings were so flavorful, and the pork strips were tender. I don't even remember everything we ate because I couldn't stop eating! I really wish they had hot and sour soup for me to wash it all down with! The service was really good! It's SO busy, so I'm glad our friends made the reservation before we got there. The server was nice and the hostess was very accommodating. It does get a little loud, but overall, I loved the ambiance!

We have tried the Roseville location, and the Davis location is just as good! The menu in Davis is smaller however and does not have some of the same speciality buns as the Roseville location. Despite that, the food is still great. We had the chili oil wontons, pork XLB, and salt & pepper pork. Loved it all. The XLB had so much soup and flavor. The chili oil wontons were my favorite part of the meal. And can't go wrong with salt & pepper pork. Definitely recommend to try

So on the drive home from Cali we had to fuel/charge up ourselves and the car and Fritzie W. and I saw Yang Kee Dumpling. Dumplings? Sold. Pork soup dumpling, shumai and a savoy and dessert filled bao bun. This kept me energized driving two and half hours back into Reno! They were delicious. I don't think but one or two pieces actually made it back home. You've got to love these little holes in the wall per se, these hidden gems, but here in the Davis area they seem to have fans because that place was packed 10 minutes after opening. The ambiance was amazing, thumping during that first half an hour for a Sunday! They were serving up some smell good dishes! Service was good and the hostess polite and courteous, despite our food not being ready at the estimated time but I get it. Busy busy. This is definitely a spot I would go to--to get a quick bite again.

Stumbled and found this place on accident while charging our cars nearby w In Davis. I liked their shumai and salted egg custard the most! Omg I'd come here just for the bao. We also ordered the shrimp soup dumplings . All were so good. 4 stars because it took forever for our order but the wait was worth it. Priced fairly and good portions .

Definitely recommend making reservations and getting on the waitlist because they get busy. The place is casual and cozy, nothing fancy, but clean and welcoming. Once we were seated, the staff took care of us immediately and our food came out very fast even though we did order about 8 dishes. They also came by to check up on us, fill up our waters, and took our empty plates quickly. It's actually pretty affordable considering the portion sizes and everything is shareable!

Come early and come often. This place stay slammed at all hours. Their baked bao always sell out, so get here early to get a great bite. The wait is a little long but you can check in on Yelp. Everything on this menu is absolutely delicious. Freshly made. You can see them making the dumplings. Will always recommend this place for family members when they visit Davis. Friends staff that are fast!

Tried this place out on a whim and I'm so glad that I did! The food was delicious and flavorful. It didn't disappoint. Service was fast and they went around with free samples! The highlight for me though was the red bean buns, they were so cute, I almost didn't want to eat them! Soft, slightly sweet, and just as delicious as they were adorable. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.

Overall, food was very good. In order, I would rank our items: Pork xiao long bao 4/5 Shrimp xlb 3/5 a little dry Pan fry pork dumplings 4/5 Sauteed broccoli 4/5 Har gow 4/5 Siu mai 4/5 Minced pork steamed bao 3/5 BBQ pork steamed bao 3/5 Wontons in chili sauce 3/5 We were seated by the door, so we had a draft the entire meal, so 2/5 on atmosphere. Service was spotty. Our server was pleasant, but didn't really want us to add more items to our order. After we did, he didn't check to see if we wanted more after that and just dropped off the check. This feels like they're used to people being there under 45 minutes and I felt pressured to turn the table even though they had cleared the wait list. 2/5 on service. Overall, I would have rated a 4/5 if I didn't feel pressured to leave.

Oh Yes! Yang Kee Dumplings is like heaven on earth. The food is great. We ordered a mess of dumplings, bao, and noodles and ate family style. Our waiter was very helpful explaining the different dishes. The big favorites were dishes we got for dessert, the Fried Mantou and the Pineapple Bao. Can't wait for a return visit.

Ordered their fried rice to-go! On a weekend holiday evening, the restaurant was completely full, with some parties waiting in line during peak hour. The ambiance seemed nice, although I enjoyed my meal at home. I tried their special Yang Chow Fried Rice. For the price, the portion size was generous! After eating as much as I could, there were still leftovers for a few meals. The fried rice was seasoned well, but it left a slightly dry taste afterwards. There was a good portion of eggs, peas, carrots, and meat.

It has been a year since I've been here and the quality has increased, if that's even possible because it was fantastic when I went the last time. We ordered the pork and chive potstickers, shumai, spareribs, chow fun, and salted egg bao. Also, a wonderful surprise was the New Year trio potstickers. All the flavors were balanced and there wasn't a repeat of spices. It was a new palate pleaser every time. I also ordered chrysanthemum tea. The total price was $70 ish dollars. It was an enjoyable meal. The place was full but it wasn't noisy. It was an odd combination. Everyone was enjoying their food and their company, yet the volume wasn't loud and I could be attentive to my husband. The only thing that would distract me was watching the magic makers through the window. They were making potstickers, shumais, and the New Year special. Every execution was quick, yet precise. The area was clean and every drop of starch or flour had a purpose. They cleaned up impeccably. I enjoyed eating at this fine establishment. Quality food for reasonable prices. The people who worked at the front of the house worked In sync. No one was without water or beverage. No one was waiting too long for their meals or their checks or even any questions to be answered. A very well ran restaurant. You could even see the owners helping and filling in where they needed. Might I also add... Din Tai Fung has nothing on Yankee Dumplings. Let me reiterate that NONE of the flavors were repetitive. Even though the proteins were the same, the flavors were unique in their own way.

We were both pretty hungry afterwards and weren't sure what places were open, or what we wanted to eat. We decided to drive around downtown Davis just to get a sense of what was open, and saw that Tasty Kitchen was bustling. We had never eaten there before, but as it was pretty much our only option besides fast food (which I did not want), we decided to try them out and have a good Thanksgiving dinner. I took a quick browse at their Yelp reviews before heading in, and the food looked pretty good, so I figured why not. Since we had come pretty much on a whim (I usually heavily research restaurants before trying new places), we weren't quite sure what to order, but I knew I wanted some carbs. We wanted to share a fried rice, so we chose the dried scallop and egg white fried rice. My husband was eyeing the beef stew lo mein, and I was eager to try the beef chow fun with black bean sauce. We were seated quickly and given hot tea to enjoy. It had been a cold day, so the tea was very welcome. We placed our order and then sat back to people watch while we waited. There were a few large groups dining in, but while watching the staff, they all worked efficiently, and food was constantly coming out of the kitchen. Delivery drivers and those who called in for takeout were also coming and going. We waited a while for our food, but it was also because everyone seemed to have ordered at the same time for the dinner rush (and we had come around 17:45 too). I guess everyone was feeling like an early Thanksgiving dinner. We were honestly amazed by the huge portion sizes when our dishes arrived to our table. Everything was reasonably priced as well, and we knew we would have plenty of leftovers. The beef chow fun with black bean sauce was delightfully saucy, and the noodles still had a nice wok hay. The beef was extremely velvety and tender. My husband enjoyed his beef stew lo mein. The egg noodles were perfectly bouncy, and the braised beef was tender. The dried scallop egg white fried rice was pretty good as well. I had hoped for a bit more wok hay and scallop flavor, but it was a little under seasoned. I would say it was a nice palette cleanser if you will, and at least the rice was nice and fluffy. I would have to say that the food here is comforting and hearty, but it didn't have as much depth of flavor as I would have liked. However, you really get your money's worth when you come here. It was $49 for everything before tip, and we had so many leftovers to take home. Our waiter even took our plates and packaged them to go for us, so that was a nice touch. I'm used to packaging my own leftovers these days. There's something for everyone at this restaurant, and I would like to be back to try some of their other dishes. Another table across from us ordered the Mongolian beef, which came on a sizzling platter, and that smelled so good. That will definitely be a contender next time we visit. I'm definitely thankful that Tasty Kitchen was open on Thanksgiving, and will keep this restaurant in our rotation for a holiday meal.

My husband and I came here after lunch and ordered two sauce, fried rice, a spicy, braised beef dish, and gai lan (Chinese broccoli). I was so excited to eat the fried rice and it tasted exactly like what I imagined it to taste like. I don't typically like really starchy, thick sauces, but that was exactly what I was looking for. I don't know, it's not like it's anything super special or a crazy amazing delicious dish, it's just a nostalgic taste that I really missed and used to only be able to get at the old tea house in Davis over a decade ago. The spicy braised beef, unfortunately was the kind of spicy. I didn't want it to be, so if you don't like tongue, numbing spicy, this is not the dish for you. That being said, the rest of the dish was good, I found the meat to be quite tender And well seasoned, when I could taste beyond numbness, lol. Vegetables are vegetables, really not more to say about that. I'll definitely come back for the fried rice and to try other clay pot dishes, which they have a lot of variety of. Also, it seems like a lot of people really enjoy their duck, so I'll be make sure to order that next time. In terms of ambience or service, it is a Chinese restaurant. You get what you get, and that is a person who brings your food out. Just kidding (kind of) I'm not expecting five star restaurant levels of service at this price point. Plates and cups were clean, the server came when I raised my hand, idk I don't really need more than that! Also, as a Vietnamese person who always has cash on her, I love when I get a discount (5%) for using cash.

My kid mentioned they usually are very pack and people would dine outdoor, but I guess we arrived early so there wasn't any wait time. Ordered few items, food came out very fast and the tastes are not bad at all. Beef Fried Rice Noodles: How do you differentiate if this dish is good or not, it is about how much excessive oil that's left on the plate. The stir fried was good, not too greasy, and they marinate the meat well. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, this place's meat was good. Only they could stir fried with even higher eat to create more "wok air" Sticky Rice Stick with Brown Sugar: First time trying this dish, so not sure what to expect. But it does seem to be a dessert to me, my comment would be higher if the rice stick is more chewy. Hot & Sour Shredded Potato: This is common dish from northern part of China. The way they prepared was awesome. The potato was not starchy and the seasoning is just right. A bit greasy but this is actually my favorite dish! Shrimp and Pork with Chives Dumplings: Meat is fresh and dumpling wrap is great too. Each dumpling size is not too big and wasn't torn. Taste is okay but maybe try another filling if I visit again. I would come again to try out other things on the menu if I'm visiting my kid again.

I went from a thin top to a medium weight sweater. We arrived in Davis I grabbed my jacket to pair with my sweater. Today was a day spent exploring Davis to see the California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts (CCACA). What a great Conference. We come each year for this Conference and explore Davis every time we are here. After exploring the first building of the show it was coming on time to eat. We looked around the current shopping center and my husband didn't see anything he was craving. He said we'll go more into town and look for a noodle place. He said he remembered one from our last visit, down one of the alleys. Walking up the street we saw a couple of advertisements. A sandwich board was on the sidewalk for Davis Noodle CIty, the exact place we were looking for. The little Noodle Shop in the alley. We weaved through the other businesses, past the dumpling restaurant, past the outdoor seating and to the front door of the Davis Noodle City Restaurant. The out door seating looked really welcoming, but it was chilly out so we opted for eating inside with the other table that was occupied. There were 3 parties eating outside when we arrived. When we walked inside we were greeted and told to take any table. We choose a table in the corner. The menus were under the glass table top, keeping it clean and easy to read. Each place setting had its own copy of the menu. After looking at the menu, remembering what was offered on the sandwich board in front, and cross referencing it with Yelp Reviews we started ordering. We opted for the Five Spice Beef Noodles, and I asked if that was a good option and she said it was their top seller. The Yelp Reviews were only ok for that dish, but I took our chances. The second dish we ordered was the Dan Dan Noodles She tried to upscale us to the one with vegetables, but that dish was a cold dish so we when for the standard Dan Dan Noodles. Both dishes came out quickly. The Dan Dan noodles were not spicy as I anticipated, which was good, I wasn't really looking for spicy. I liked the flavor and realized that if you mixed it up there is a sauce on the bottom that is really tasty. Dan Dan Noodles ($8.25 a steal) is a solid dish and I highly reccomend it. It's a great bowlful of noodles. If you are hopping for other ingredients you are out of luck, it's 100% noodles with a sprinkling of peanuts on top and a sauce on the bottom. The Five Spice Beef Noodle Soup ($12.75)was as described in the reviews. It comes with American Broccoli and carrots. The beef is so good it melts in your mouth. The broth is minimal and lacked flavor. I'd think that it's advertised as Five Spice that it would have more flavor. I don't reccomend it if you are looking for a strong flavor. If you are looking for great meat, that melts in your mouth, but is also a little fatty then you have the perfect dish. Both dishes came with fresh noodles, none of those dried and rehydrated noodles that some places serve. The noodles on both dishes were different and pleasant. I highly reccomend their fresh noodles. Customer service was good. She came to check up on us and was pleasant. Parking is street parking. And they have a bathroom on site that is clean and well stocked.

Unfortunately, this place has both bad service and food is not great. 2 stars for the price. Food (3/10) - I don't know how to describe it outside of the fact that it's just bland. I got the "Marco Polo noodles" which is just Chinese jia jiang mien. Let's start with the positives. I liked the noodle texture; it had a nice spring and were thick for a decent chew. Now, onto the bad. You could just tell that the noodles would be bland just by a look and smell. The smell of the bowl wasn't one of fragrant stir-fried pork but it actually smelled like starchy water. The sauce was super watery and had no flavor and I don't think there was even ground pork in the noodles. From what I could tell, it was some diced up mushroom and then black bean paste, without black bean flavor might I add. I had to add a GENEROUS amount of soy sauce and chili oil to make it taste decent. Honestly, I'd say it's pretty hard to mess up this dish as a whole and there's a lot of leeway on flavor but I have not tasted something that bland in a while. On the opposite end of the spectrum, we have the thai tea. This thing was so sweet that it was borderline undrinkable. I had to wait for the ice to melt in the drink before it was bearable and even then, it still left this residual sticky taste in my mouth. Also it's 4 dollars for canned thai tea; she grabbed it out the fridge. The only sort of saving grace of this restaurant is that it's relatively cheap. $12.50 for a good portion of noodles might convince me to go back(?) VERY BIG maybe though. I might want to try their soup noodles. Service (5/10) - It didn't really seem like she wanted me to be there. She kind of just sat behind the counter on her phone with an Airpod in the whole time. She was just on her phone the whole time and overall inattentive. When she was, she was just asking if I was ready to order (twice in the span of under 3-ish minutes). Ambiance (6/10) - Eh. It was just kinda weird. The lighting was dingy. Also didn't like how they left dirty tables around (clearly looked like they had been there for a while). Overall, probably wouldn't visit again. Might give it a second chance but food for price was pretty good. Unfortunately, bad food for good price is a no-go for me.

Recently came to celebrate Lunar New Year and everything we got was absolutely delicious and we all had left overs to enjoy the next day. We ordered the west lake beef soup, ribs garlic sauce, duck chow mein, beef string bean, and fried sesame seed balls. The soup was light and flavorful, the ribs were juicy and had perfectly crispy skin, the string beans were fresh, the chow mein was not overly greasy, and the sesame balls we're super hot and tasty. The staff were also super nice and helpful. Will definitely come back.
