It was certainly welcoming from the second we walked in. It's a cute small restaurant with several tables and a bar option. We got several things to try. Everything was pretty good. I will say the crispy rice felt lacking in spicy tuna and was over sauced in my opinion. There was also cucumber in 3 out of 4 of the rolls and we aren't really cucumber people so we didn't enjoy that. I do wish we had tried dessert. Ordered delivery using Postmates. I ordered the New Horizon, Soicy Tuna Crispy Rice, and In N Out roll. I am allergic to egg. The descriptions for the New Horizon and STCR did not state there was spicy mayo on them -- many other times DID, and I avoided ordered those items -- yet they arrived with spicy mayo on them. So I was only able to eat the In N Out roll, which was pretty standard fare, definitely not worth waiting an hour for and paying all the delivery fees. I'm disappointed to say my first time at Yanagi Sushi was not the greatest. I absolutely loved the decoration & ambience of the interior & the waitresses were so kind! My bestie & I started off with some handrolls that were truly some of the best I've ever had, this made me so excited for the rolls we had ordered as well. However, the rolls did not live up to my expectation. Both rolls tasted off, as if the fish was not fresh, I've never experienced something like this before which is why it was so off putting. We couldn't eat more than one piece of each so we expressed our concerns to the waitress who ended up taking them away & off our bill, they were very apologetic which was appreciated. After hearing so much about Yanagi Sushi, I was so excited to try them out but unfortunately, I was left feeling so disappointed with the quality of the food. I first tried their Spicy Shrimp and Crab hand roll, which was absolutely delicious. After that dish, I was so looking forward to the rolls my party had ordered, but when they arrived to our table and we actually started eating them, they had an extremely fishy taste and smell that pretty much ruined my appetite. The servers were so kind and they graciously removed the rolls from our table and our bill, but I was a bit discouraged as I was so excited to have a nice sushi dinner and was left so unsatisfied. The food was good, the service was decent, and its an overall nice little spot to go to. It was also clean which is always a plus. I wouldn't call it exceptional but I also wouldn't say it was bad. We ordered an appetizer, three different rolls, a baked roll, and sushi/sashimi. The chicken Karaage was amazing! The Canadian roll was good, it had a nice balance of the jalapeño sauce which added some acidity to the food. The Jessica Alba roll was underwhelming, I was not crazy about it, I felt it lacked body. The Shrimp-trio was also good but lacked freshness. The Volcano roll was good, it sort of tasted like a whopper, it probably had to do with the mayo, but the baked salmon was great. Then, the black snapper sashimi was interesting because it comes with truffle and scallions and although good, lacked a certain freshness I am used to with the sushi. I've been coming here since the late 80's and have never had an issue with anyone here, that all changed today. I called to place an order for pickup and was told it would be a minute, no problem. I waited on the phone for over 5 mins and decided to go inside- the women (who I've never seen before, tall thin, maybe 30) and she's standing near the register on her phone with the restaurant phone on the counter. I said I was the one on the phone waiting, she then picked up the restaurant phone and hung it up- gave me an attitude and I told her never mind, I don't want anything and left- I will not come here again if she's here- she shouldn't work with the public nor work in a busy environment as she clearly can't handle that. read more

Not sure if this was the owner or the manager but she made sure to approach every table and ask how everything was going. I thought that was very sweet. Came here for the first time last night and was really excited to try it. The sushi was absolutely delicious, but unfortunately the customer service is the reason I'm giving two stars. My husband and I arrived around 8:30 PM, and the restaurant was pretty packed. The only available options were a table right by the door--the screen door was open and made it very cold--or a table for six in the middle of the restaurant. I let the waitress know we didn't want to sit by the door. When I noticed the open table in the middle and sat down, she abruptly told us it was reserved only for larger groups--even though last call was in about 20 minutes and the restaurant was closing soon. What made it more confusing was that several tables for four only had two people sitting at them, so it felt like there could have been some flexibility. After a few minutes, we were directed to a table in the very back near the bathrooms, which wasn't ideal either. When we expressed that we didn't want to sit there, it felt like there was little effort to accommodate us or improve the situation. Thankfully, a very kind couple nearby offered to switch tables with us and moved to the spot by the door. The food itself was great, but the lack of attentive and thoughtful customer service really took away from the overall experience. read more
