Came here on a rainy Sunday afternoon. My friend and I were the only ones here. Service was a little bit on the slower side but nothing too much to complain about. Food was good enough for South Austin. I liked that they had Japanese and some Korean options since I'm always looking for more Korean food. Overall decent place don't have any complains.

William Cannon Roll, California Roll
Lisa S.

The lineup: Miso Soup, Baked Dynamite Roll, California Roll, William Cannon Roll, Diablo Roll The scoop: Nice decor with plenty of comfortable booths. Friendly service -- looks to be family owned. Korean-influenced menu. Will definitely be returning. Yays: Baked Dynamite Roll -- Sauce was delicious and plenty of tasty crab and scallop. California Roll -- It's a simple roll but they nailed it! Made with real crab. Diablo Roll -- Yummy roll with tempura shrimp and spicy scallop. Meh: William Cannon Roll -- Lovely combination of spicy tuna, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeno, topped with yellowtail and hot sauce but the fish didn't taste very fresh.

Crunchy stuff on all 3 rolls

We did take out and ordered 4 different rolls and an avocado bomb. All 5 dishes had imitation crab in them. The Cali roll should be salmon and avocado on inside. The rainbow roll I can't recall but pretty sure not imitation crab either. Also they put 3 rolls in one take out which is fine, but almost all had the crunchy stuff on them. We only ordered 1 crunchy roll, very sloppy work. Prob won't be coming back. To owner: it was the fact that all 4 rolls had the crab in them (imitation crab). I doubt all 4 rolls come with imitation crab on menu. I've never had a rainbow roll or Cali with imitation crab before. Also I picked them up myself. I didn't flip it over or anything. There was enough crunch in that package for 10 rolls lol

SUSHI SASHIMI BOAT COMBINATION

Still one of my favorites! This is a solid sushi spot in south Austin. Generous portions, fresh sushi, and nice vibes. I still get take out here, probably monthly and have dined in on multiple occasions (by myself, with my family, and with friends). The service is always excellent and the meal always hits the spot. I highly recommend!

EDAMAME
James K.

We came here last night for dinner and very much enjoyed it. We arrived around 635 without a reservation and got seated immediately, which was nice. The food was delicious! Five stars for the edamame as an appetizer, along with the dragon sushi roll. My fiancés bibimbap also was on point. I probably wouldn't get the beef teriyaki again though, as next time around I'd go with the bibimbap instead. Service was also very quick too. Overall, it was a good experience!

Beef Bulgogi Bento Box*

My partner and I arrived at 11:15 AM and we're the 1st group in. They probably do a thorough cleaning in the morning because it definitely smelled like cleaning chemicals. The staff was welcoming and attentive. We ordered a chirashi bowl and beef bento box. The bento box ($15) comes with miso soup, salad, tempura, and 4 pieces of California roll. Definitely bang for your buck! It was so good. The sashimi pieces in the chirashi bowl ($19) was fresh, perfectly cut, and plentiful, There are many lunch combinations offered at a great price. We'll definitely be coming here more often.

Teriyaki steak, miso soup, tempura appetizer, tai sashimi

Great little restaurant with amazing food and service. I was greeted and seated quickly. My waiter was very friendly. I ordered the tempura appetizer and it was delicious. I also had a miso soup that was really good. My entree was the teriyaki steak and rice which was also delicious and lastly I had an order of tai sashimi and to my delight they had gochujang sauce that made it extremely good. This place is very nice with delicious food and great service. 9.5/10 for me

SPIDER ROLL-delicious!

Where have I been? Just now trying this place. Ordered a spider roll to go for lunch and it was outstanding. Fresh ingredients, packed with flavor and packaged well. I'll be back to dine in and order more food. I am happy when I find another sushi place in town to enjoy.

Fantastic lunch specials!

It's fine- not great, not terrible. I did like the calamari a fair bit but the ramen was mediocre.

Good pieces of fish! I also enjoyed the topping on each of them adding a nice twist to every bite. While it's not the most unique or blow your socks off quality, it is a good nigiri mix. The roll was also nice with a nice garlic crunch element layered in with the salmon and sushi rice. I like that the sushi rice is subtly sweet and tangy! The sunomono salad was pretty nice, but the sauce it came with was wonderful, especially paired with the nigiri and sushi roll. Since the sushi roll is basic, the sauce adds a nice sweet soy flavor. They also provided ponzu sauce which was more on the salty side. Overall, I enjoyed the takeout omakase box, but I don't think it's something I'd come back for until I have tried the other sushi spots in Austin.

The name actually means "red crown," referencing the distinctive red marking on the crane's head. This symbolism is widely associated in Japan with harmony, care, and precision. Tancho's branding and design materials explain that the name reflects their philosophy of balance and thoughtful craftsmanship. Their visual identity includes two "tancho" fish swimming in harmony, representing the relationship between chef and guest. Tancho has a minimalist, sleek persona with soothing colors. Sat at the sushi bar and for a Thursday night was pretty quiet. There were four chefs and sitting at the sushi bar you got to see the goodies as they were made. Austyn was the person who took care of me and they were wonderful. Very polite and provided great recommendations for the night. Got the sake flight and all three I'd get again. Started with the Barbacoa dumplings....ummmm amazing, soooo flavorful. Next up was the Brussels sprouts and y'all those left with the bowl empty. The only rec I gave Austyn was to tell peeps to stir them to get all the sauce goodness mixed in. Didn't realize there was a sauce until the end soooo that would have probably made me lick the bowl! Also got the Toro fig and I'm not gonna lie I was shocked. Never thought pairing fig with tuna would be good, again rec I gave was to give a spoon so you could sip all that sauce goodness!!! Last on my dining journey was the Prime Market Nigiri Moriawase. This was the chefs choice of five nigiri pieces and they again were delicious. The downside was the omakase was for 2 people, portion size sooo I need to find a plus one, any takers?! I'd go back to try other items and get a few of the same.

The Robot Ramen was light, yet rich, the meat was succulent (and not too thin, at the risk of being dry) and the noodles were al dente--both were cooked nicely. Lastly, the Pork Chashu Fried Rice was a burst of umami flavor, from the shoyu glazed pork rib to the shiitake mushroom lying underneath. Solid dish--no notes! Service: No complaints! We had a reservation and were seated immediately upon walking in. Our waiter was attentive. Ambiance: Casual, modern. A vibrant experience, to say the least, from the flora draping from the ceiling, to the warm colors permeating throughout. Parking: Street parking available. Pay note of parking signs!

The ambience is not super polished by that is not must for me with sushi. The soup and salad was brought out first at the same time. The soup was really tasted and had a lot going in on it compared to most miso soups you get. The salad was all the sad white parts of an iceberg lettuce head with a dressing that was more creamy than the soy/ginger orange one most sushi places have. The chirashi came out with the fish place directly on the rice rather than separately in a stacked serving box with the rice below and the sushi on a plate above that. Their yelp pics showed it presented like this in the past. Guess they ran out or loss those? The fish was really good with the tuna and salmon being the highlight. Nice thick cuts with really good tenderness and freshness. I will be going back again for the chirashi and super friendly service.

I ordered takeout and picked it up, but the inside is cute and I would definitely dine in. This is exactly the type of sushi place I have been looking for! Great takeout sushi - not expensive, not fancy date night sushi, but just good sushi with good prices! They have a dinner deal that I think was $18??! It included THREE rolls with soup and salad! That's what I'm talking about! I got the spicy tuna (least favorite), salmon avocado (top fav), and yellowtail rolls (2nd fav). I will order this again. I loved the creamy ginger dressing on the salad too even though it is just iceberg lettuce. Miso soup was great too. My fiance enjoyed the chicken yakisuba noodles. Prices are right and portions are big! Definitely my new takeout sushi spot. Can't wait to try some of their specialty rolls next time or the bento box!
