I stopped here for lunch to check it out...I had never eaten here before and I was intrigued. I had heard and read mixed reviews of the place. The menu is really extensive with pages and pages of choices...at the very end, I found the Lunch Specials and I chose the Boneless Rib and Beef Teriyaki combo. It came with pork fried rice (white rice is also an option) and a spring roll (I could had also chosen egg roll or crab rangoon). The pork fried rice was good, not oily, good and light...a good companion to the meats in my plate. The beef teriyaki was a bit chewy, a bit tough, but it had a nice marinade. The boneless ribs were not bad, but they were definitely not fresh they had been refrigerated and reheated for my order. My spring roll was piping hot and crispy on the outside...not bad.... Overall the food was OK, but nothing extraordinary. My server was typical Asian lady a bit rushed, a bit stern...no complaints on her service though.

Food was great and arrived in time . The freshness of the egg roll and food was excellent even though they closed in an hour my food was still hot when I received it

Yama Fuji is your one stop shop for sushi, Hibachi, Japanese, and Chinese food. I came here with a Groupon for $30 towards Hibachi Dinner for two or more. The Groupon required us to make a reservation and I was able to make reservations the same day for dinner. There were a few tables occupied, but not too many. The restaurant is huge. There are regular tables, a bar area, and hibachi tables. We had a whole hibachi table to just us 2. We ordered the Steak and Scallop Hibachi Combo and Steak and Salmon Hibachi Combo. The hibachi chef was engaging and did the usual sake skirt, volcanic onion, and throwing vegetables to our mouths. The hibachi combo came with mushroom soup, salad, hibachi fried rice, 2 pcs shrimp appetizer & vegetable. The food was very flavorful and we had to pack some of it to go. The chef did ask us how we wanted the steak and we both said medium, but it came out well done. The scallop, salmon, shrimp, fried rice, and vegetables were cooked really well. The salad was covered with dressing. We also ordered the peking duck to try since I've been missing it. They gave us a good portion of peking duck with the skin. There were 4 pieces of tortilla and not buns that traditionally comes with it so a little spin there. It was tasty though. We had originally ordered the drinks, but we never received them. I guess the waitress forgot and we didn't get charged for them. My husband saw the waitress roll her eyes a few times, but the hibachi chef and other staff were friendly. There is a parking lot on the side of the restaurant and also street parking. I would come back here to try other dishes.

Just got paid, Friday night... I haven't been to this place in 5 years. One night decided to get sushi so we figured we would try this place again. It was very good. Also got egg rolls and they were so yummy! Cooked perfectly. Fast forward 1 week...we decide to get Chinese from there and of course sushi! My husband got a pupu platter for 2 and I got general Tso's chicken with beef fried rice. My husband got shrimp fried rice but I forgot to take a picture. My general Tso was SO spicy and I like spicy but this was a little much. So I don't think I will be getting it anytime soon. However it was good so if you like spicy I suggest you get it. The sushi was the 7 princess roll! So yummy but sad because I forgot to ask for spicy Mayo on the side.

    Sushi. Really good!

Mix feelings here. I feel that I wasted my money. The food is not cheap, so I assumed something more fresh. The salad looks old and it's not the first occurrence I received brown salad. The sushi is good though hence the three stars. The customer service is off and on depending on the day and who you get.

It was my first visiting Yama Fuji, I ordered my favorite traditional Sichuan food, which is the fish fillet with spicy sauce, Chongqing Chicken and two salmon rolls. Salmon rolls - I would be honest the salmon in the roll is very minimum. I wasn't very satisfied with how much fish in the role. Chongqing Chicken - I really liked the Chongqing Chicken! It's well fried, very crispy and a tad sweet. It tastes like popcorn chicken. Fish fillet - I would give it 8 out of 10. It tastes pretty good but not the best I had. The fish itself is very fresh and soft, and it's not too spicy. Servers are very nice!

If only if only the lady who greeted. Us actually greeted us and didn't seem so impatient on a Wednesday afternoon with an empty restaurant. Other than that, everything else was fine. We've been here for other food choices and dined in but tonight we got sushi. Accurate order, fast and tasty. Price was a bit up there but typically that's sushi right ? There's parking, casual/cute attire, full beverage bar and sushi bar. The place was also very clean.

Parking is tough but you should be able to find street parking without a long walk. I knew the restaurant was small and was worried we'd have trouble finding a seat because of that. However, we were the only customers in there for a solid 10 minutes when we first arrived. The restaurant itself was adorable! Small but nicely decorated and furnished. I appreciated the stars on the ceiling. The staff were friendly and gave us as much time as we needed with the menu before we ordered at the counter. I had the chicken empanadas and the shrimp poboy. The food came out quickly and was piping hot and fresh. The empanadas were excellent. Great flavor and tasted high quality. I found them to be a little oily but that wasn't anything a napkin couldn't fix. The shrimp was cooked well and I liked the sauce it came with. Their bread was also super soft and tasted freshly baked. Definitely something I'd consider ordering again! Overall, I'd definitely come back to the White Owl and would love to check out more things on the menu.

I got the fisherman platter which included fish and chips, perfectly cooked fried nice and crispy fries, with fried clams and fried scallops. Fries were perfect and came with a nice little coleslaw cup too. Couldn't finish it! My buddy got a baked stuff lobster and that took a few minutes. It was stuffed with scallops! First of all, the restaurant itself is small but very cute, cozy, and full of lovely New England-y Sea-Themed decor. We were promptly seated and had our order taken for our drinks & food - I had heard good things about this place, so I got a decent amount of food items, including: Lobster Roll - Arguably the best lobster roll I've ever had so far in my life. The brioche bun for it was soooo fluffy, soft, and a perfect complement to the big, juicy chunks of lobster that were seasoned and buttered JUST right. Also came with hefty and well-seasoned fries. New England Clam Chowder - Came with salted pork and potatoes in addition to the quahog clams. It was deliciously creamy and soothing to slurp on and the chunks within were all so tender and a great contrast. Clam Cakes - Added them to the Clam Chowder order for an extra $8. Big, hefty, doughy balls that were perfectly fried outside and ooey gooey within. Fish & Chips - Big, hefty fish that was juicy & delicious with a great crunch on the outside! Similarly came with the 'chips', or the hefty, well-seasoned fries that the lobster roll also came with. Oh yeah, pardon me, forgetting to mention the drinks! We ordered the Briny Martini and the Harbor House Punch! The Martini was great for a stronger drink and the Punch was a nice cocktail for anyone preferring something sweeter and fruitier. When it came to the food, service, and dining experience...it couldn't have been better! Everything was incredibly delicious and definitely worth ordering. This memorable experience then reached exceptional circumstances, however, as while we were in the middle of dining here and enjoying our delicious food, there was a shooting occurring just up the street at Brown University. I wish to commend the staff at Dune Brothers, who looked out for mine and their other patrons' safety and sheltering us in their restaurant as we all nervously waited for more information on what exactly was going on that evening. Exceptional circumstances aside, this restaurant is also exceptional when it comes to the quality of their food and service. I highly recommend coming here if you're in Providence!
