lychee martini

Yummy! Was craving ramen on a cold rainy sunday night and had been wanting to try Izumi as we pass by it so often. Staff were super attentive and friendly. We ordered pork belly buns, grilled squid and a sunset roll for appetizers and two char siu ramens. The squid was delicious as was the ramen but honestly the pork belly buns and sunset roll didn't stand out, not necessarily a bad thing but i truthfully just don't remember them. the lychee martini was delicious though!

One of my favorites, if you haven't tried you must. Still haven't swayed from my favorites. The food is aways top notch. The service always nice and friendly. The place has a great vibe, from the art to the decor.

I was feeing under the weather and wanted some ramen so we ordered takeout from Izumi. This was our first time ordering food from here, so in addition to the ramen we also ordered Izumi Rangoon, shrimp yakiudon, general gao chicken, and nime chow. The food was really good but on the more expensive side. The takeout order was packaged well and ready in about 15 minutes from when we placed our order online. We received email communication from the restaurant confirming the order and again when the order was ready to pick up.

Best quality sushi in the area! The fish tastes fresh and great. The yellow fish was my favorite roll. Finished with pistachio and strawberry mochi ice cream. Surprised by how delicious and creamy they were. The other dishes they serve are amazing as well. Lastly, the display of each dish is very neat. Always pleased when I eat here!

Miso soup

Ambiance laid back most was clean except under the tables!

The biggest drink ever!

Delicious food, awesome company, and a wonderful dinner. We had apps and sushi and drinks and they did not disappoint. We had wonderful service. The servers were attentive and kind. It was the perfect ambiance for dinner. Decent seating space for groups or couples. Had the tuna app and plenty of sushi. We had the biggest drink I have ever seen! Definitely fun to share with friends. I would definitely recommend this place.

The last time we were here was in end of Aug . Came here at 4:30-5pm not in rush hour or weekend either. We waited for 10 mins at least to get our waitstaff attention. We got seated and were left alone for a while. The restaurant only had a few tables so it wasn't even busy. The price of nigiri and maki also have gone up. The quality though, they weren't the same as before. Will not go out of my way to have sushi here anymore.

General gao bento box: general gao chicken, shrimp tempura, California roll, rice, fried gyoza

We came here before going to the theaters up the street. The service was fast and efficient which helped us get there right on time. Parking was so easy as it is in a plaza with lots of spaces. There's also tons of stores around the area so you can conveniently dine and shop in the same trip. The inside is nice with a variety of seating options: high booths, booths, high bar chairs, regular tables. Our table was perfect: it was in the corner so it felt private and next to a window to watch the sun go down. I ordered the general gao bento box and was able to get three sides on top of a salad, soup, and rice. For $21 I thought that was a great deal especially since it was a pretty good serving size. The chicken gao was white meat, tasted fresh, and the sauce was mainly sweet. Most of the pieces were still crispy. The California roll was good and so was the rice. The shrimp tempura was my favorite, it was light, very crispy, and extremely tasty. The gyozas were small but mighty in flavor. I've been here twice now and have not been disappointed. I would recommend.

Nime Chow

We ordered takeout and got Nime Chow, Crab Rangoons, a hibachi dinner, chicken yakisoba noodles, and crab salad. Everything was great! This might be our new go-to.

Sirloin Steak Hibachi

The best lunch hibachi. Everything is 10/10. It's usually pretty quiet for lunch, and service is great.

I really like this restaurant, from the modern vibe to the great sushi and excellent service. We were quickly seated at a high top table next to the window, water arrived promptly and a few minutes later we ordered: + Shumai - Steamed shrimp dumpling. $9.60 + Gyoza 6 pieces. Pan fried Japanese dumplings. $9.60 + Miso Soup - Tofu, seaweed, scallion in soybean based broth. $6.00 + Garden Salad - Green salad with mixed vegetables. $8.40 + Chicken Fried Rice - Stir fried rice with chicken. $18.00 + Salmon Lover Sushi & Sashimi - 3 pieces of salmon sushi, 6 pieces salmon sashimi and salmon roll. $25.00 The Shumai was tasty, but the Gyoza was fantastic, light, crispy, hot and delicious. The soup and salad were good, standard fare, and the Salmon Lover Sushi & Sashimi was excellent! Two diners ordered the salmon which arrvies artfully presented, with a substantial amount of salmon. I'd definitely order this dish again! The fried rice was nicely cooked, not too heavy and the chicken was moist and tender. The only thing I didn't like about this restaurant was the traffic, it's located on busy and light laden Route 1, but I think our dining party all agreed it was worth the trip.

Shumai
Rebecca B.

I visited Izumi recently because I was craving sushi. The restaurant offers is Japanese and Thai fusion, so they offer hibachi, sushi, and Thai dishes. There is something for everyone. I started off with the steamed Shumai, which was pretty solid. For drinks, I shared the Tsunami bowl for two, Tokyo Sunset, and the Sake Lemonade. All of the drinks were really good! My boyfriend and I also shared the Sushi for Two - which featured an assortment of nigiri and chef's choice of two specialty rolls. Everything was fresh and beautifully served. My only critique is that the fusion rolls were basically a raw combination of the other fish we had, whereas I wish there had been two cooked rolls instead. We also ordered a Spicy Scallop roll on the side which was also good. I think the prices are fair and our service was really nice. Good spot for a little date night. Would return.

A SPECIAL PLACE TO TASTE CULTURES AND FOOD. Even when you…read moreare outside of Boston you might be in the mood for a meal that is different than what you expected. Maybe you want a bit of Italian food. Or maybe it is Latin food but not fully Mexican. You can not tell, but you know you want something different. It that is the case then you need to take a back road and look for something different. When doing this with friends we found a small place that looked like a hole int he wall. No cars outside. No one inside it seemed. But when the clock hit 6pm the people started to arrive. And in large numbers. We were lucky to have a reservation and get a table when we stepped inside. Inside it was different. Papagallo is a truly family restaurant. Even the younger of the family managed the front counter to check-in. We then went to the table with our menus. This is where we started. And it is some menu to consider. There is everything. You can find Italian, South American with specialties from Columbia. There is fish, meats, and even vegan if desired. It is all there. It can be a way to combine meals from all regions that you can try. Nothing will stop you. It also helps that the waiter will tell you of the specialties of the day and answer any questions you might have. And he will go into detail on this. And he can take your order without writing it down. Of course, the first thing to do is order a drink if you wish. They do have a bartender how can make anything. Naturally a good way to start is with a dry martini. That was filled to the top of the glass. It was ideal. We also had some special Spritz cocktails that were good and strong, but sweet enough to start the meal. Starting with appetizers we did have calamari which was not traditional Italian style. It was more Colombian in nature. It is lightly breaded, fried and tossed with garlic wine butter, sliced cherry peppers and tomatoes. Finished with a dash of parmesan cheese. But, it does have a spicy twist to it. And they were perfect. We also had an order of zucchini flowers that were covered and fried. These are rare to come by. Many restaurants do not even offer these or know how to make them. This was special as no one makes this except at home if you grow the zucchini. This was great. For the main entrees we went all over the place. A bit of everything that we could share and enjoy together. It was that good to share and experience. The special course was the Mofongo Relleno. It is a Puerto Rican favorite consisting of fried, mashed green plantains with garlic, olive oil and Chicharrónes. It is then sautéed with peppers and onions stuffed with chicken. It is a simple dish but nothing you can ever have outside of a Puerto Rican restaurant. And here it is alongside Italian dishes and New England seafood. Next up was Haddock Florentine. This was different. It is baked haddock topped with spinach, grape tomatoes, and crispy bacon in a lemon wine butter sauce. Served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The sauce is a mixture with Pinot Grigio. It is tasty and light with just enough flavoring. From this we went to Salmon Oscar. It is grilled Atlantic Salmon served over Lobster ravioli with mushrooms, grape tomatoes, and asparagus in a sherry cream sauce. It was truly fresh with fresh caught salmon. It was a good taste with a good portion to go with. The meals were truly enjoyable and had a special taste. Cooked fresh you could have more since the portions were ideal. Naturally, after the meal there is time for dessert. Starting with an express, what more could you want. There was Italian desserts and South American desserts. But this being a special time we went for the Tres Leches. A tres leches cake is a sponge cake originating in North, Central, and South America soaked in milk. It is a very light cake with many air bubbles. This distinct texture is why it does not have a soggy consistency despite being soaked in a mixture of three types of milk. We also had the Pistachio Cake. This is a special cake that is truly light to the touch. Moist, fluffy pistachio cake made with a yogurt batter base and topped with a pistachio butter glaze is an elegant, but easy dessert. Toasting and grinding the pistachios yourself adds a little work, but results in a deep, rich, roasted pistachio flavor. In the end, this was a special meal to have on a special gathering with friends. It was a place hidden down a street not far from where we were but never knew of. The family is wonderful. They run this shop from the front door and into the kitchen. It is their way of presenting a taste and style many of us will never even know of. The meals are good. The portions are excellent. The pricing is perfect for what you will receive. Our compliments to the Chef and the team for offering a special meal. Papagallo. It is a mixture of cultures and tastes for everyone.

Our server was lovely and made some recommendations. We tried the spicy and sweet calamari app and shrimp fajitas and I tried their famous mofongo with shrimp. I was so glad to try this - the outer crunchy plaintains were perfectly seasoned and the jumbo shrimp were cooked just right. The sauce made me want to lick my plate. The cocktails were generous and beautiful. So luck to have such a great place to eat nearby with a huge assortment of offerings. The food came out quickly and we were done in less than an hour. I highly recommend it!

Our server had a very thick Chinese accent and he was very rushed and curt....but he came when needed and he was quick. I got the L8 Lunch special with brown rice (even though it is not spelled out on the menu, they do offer that as a side option) and my husband got th L34 Lunch special. The boneless ribs on both of our meals were fresh and delicious. My chicken chop suey was light (I ordered with low sauce/low sodium) and it was perfect for me. We went here for lunch today and the server was extremely overbearing. It seemed like he was looking for money. He greeted us with "Is it only two of you?" and when we said yes, he started trying to push mai tais on us. I ordered a drink (not a mai tai) and my husband ordered tea, and the server said to him "You're not going to order an alcohol drink?" My husband only wanted tea because he doesn't drink, plus we both find it inappropriate for a server to push alcohol. When I ordered food for us to share, the server said to my husband "What are you having?" When my husband said I had ordered the food for both of us, the server tried to push more food on us. My husband told him we only wanted what we had ordered. When we were finally done and had paid and my husband signed the card slip, the server came back and told my husband he couldn't read the numbers in the total (implying my husband had tipped incorrectly). There was no problem with the food or drinks but the server was a jerk and he made our experience extremely unpleasant.
