I was really pleasantly surprised at how good the food was at Dragon Villa. I've passed it for years, but after a wake nearby, my brother and I grabbed some dinner there. The waitstaff was attention and sat us soon after entering. It was pretty busy. I ended up getting the combination plate, since I'm vegetarian- I got the vegetable lo mein and asked for meatless fried rice instead of the pork one that normally comes on the combination plate. I also was able to substitute a spring roll in place of the egg roll. I'm so glad I got the combination plate because WoW the fried rice was awesome. I'd definitely go back just to get the rice. The chicago chow mein and the pork strips were good. However the chicken wings, the shrimp and the lo mein were really dry . Big disappointment. Although this restaurant has been around awhile, my wife and I have never been there and decided to try it out on the advice of a friend. Glad we listened! I had what I consider to be the best general tso chicken I've ever had. My wife had the Chicago chow mein combo plate and thought it was average but flavor seemed authentic. Won ton soup was excellent and full of pork. Cabbage , and won tons. 1 complaint,: extra charge for crispy noodles. Not a big deal as it wasn't an unreasonable price. I guess I was just surprised. Food is a 5 out of 10, but it is Chinese-so it's always a subjective opinion. Now is the place a bit on the ghetto fabulous side absolutely. The bar area is trip. Loud, karaoke, vulgarity, and definitely interesting. This place is made for the locals crowd that it draws. I can't recommend it, because I think some people would be intimidated. I've only gotten take out food from the Dragon Villa, but it has always been great. The dining area looks a little plain inside, but the service inside (getting orders to go) seems decent in my opinion. I've gotten food from here quite often and the quality, portion size and value is very good. I've only had a couple of issues when some food items were not in the order, but we called and they made good for it. The parking lot is a little tight and hard to get out of if you park close to the building. I recommend parking a little farther from the building, or at least on the outer side of the parking spaces. This is one of the few decent Chinese restaurants in the area, so I would recommend it. read more

Went last night to dine in with my boyfriend. Met him in the bar and based off the music... We felt like we were in 1992. But don't blame it on the rain, blame it on the other patrons who were in there choosing the tunes! Great for people watching for sure! We moved into the restaurant area. He said the wings were small and needed just a little bit of seasoning but fried just right! We also got down with the 'funk.' A drink identified on the menu as a few delicious liquors ladies love combined. It was strong! And in a tiki cup- bonus points there. But there was a garnishment of fruit on a long toothpick across the top of the cup. Here's where things get blurry and not from the drink... There was a slice of lemon or orange that was really dry and the peel had blueish green ground into it. I say lemon or orange because we are just unsure! I never thought it could be over 30 dollars because as of 4 years ago, the PuPu for 2 was around 16 dollars. I walk in and it's just drab. No life no hope. So I find the door to the seating area and I'm met with this really irritated looking woman behind the counter. She asks my name and grabs my food and says 42 dollars and blah. I'm like what? No way, and she's explaining to me how the establishment and the owners don't claim anything online and if people get prices wrong it's not their fault etc... I'm saying well the owner should at least check yelp or update some of the things online so that customers can make informed decisions. She was talking over me at this point and saying the owner wants nothing to do with any of the internet. Avoid here. They're rude and don't care. The bit of overcharging in previous reviews ARE TRUE. I didn't even get an itemized receipt so trust me they're tipping themselves which is gross. Also, the food was put in the bag like this. Food was hot but their oil is old. I was perusing the internet for a Chinese restaurant in Rhode Island, and stumbled upon Dragon Villa in Lincoln, RI. It's a stand alone restaurant in a strip mall, (not a strip mall Chinese restaurant) and this place is about as real deal as you can get. I base worthiness of a visit to a Chinese restaurant on whether or not they have flat noodle Lo Mein, or buffet style round noodle Lo Mein. I find the restaurants that offer flat noodle Lo Mein are of higher quality than those of round noodle Lo Mein. I looked at photos of Dragon Villa's food and found them to have the flat noodle Lo Mein. Dragon Villa serves rolls and tea when you sit down. The wife and I ordered a scorpion bowl for two, it came out in a heavily used bowl that showed decades of use, and it packed a punch. We ordered scallion pancakes, and they came out blazing hot and perfectly cooked. This is also a test to see how hot they keep the fryolators, because some places cut back on the heat to save money on energy at the cost of poorly cooked food, and if they're cutting back on the fry temps, they're cutting back on the heat of the woks. I ordered a small order of vegetable Lo Mein, and it was very good with plenty of garlic, and a rich sauce that coated the flat noodles, and the Lo Mein was loaded with crisp fresh veggies. It's a 'must get'. Dragon Villa offers lunch and dinner combos, so I got the shrimp egg foo dinner, and subbed with shrimp fried rice, and a spring roll. The spring roll was cooked just as good as the scallion pancakes, and the rice was plentiful, piping hot, and had that old school million dollar flame kissed taste. The egg foo was perfectly done. The egg foo are large, but thinner than others, and were loaded with all the goodies. The egg foo gravy there is the perfect flour based gravy, and it smothered the egg foo in perfect gravy goodness. My wife got general's chicken, which she said was "absolutely the best!" It was "tender, unsus chicken", that appeared to me to have a perfect coating, and a delightfully rich sauce. Dragon Villa knocked it out of the park. The only issues we had was that the restrooms are not very accessible, and they served hot mustard in a vinegar base, instead of a simple water base, so it don't have that sinus clearing zippiness I've come to love. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly. The dining room was neat and tidy. The owner took the time to chat with us a bit, and we took home the extras. Great place! read more

First off let me say that I've been ordering food from here for years now....it always good....well I don't know who you guys had in the kitchen tonight, but the food was terrible....worst I've ever had it....and I order from here often....had to be the worst General Tso chicken I've ever had....and the house fried rice, that I ALWAYS get.....was awful, never tasted it so bad since I've been getting it there....extremely bland, even put soy sauce on it and it didn't make it better... It looked like you guys had a party going on in the back....but if you can't do party's and keep up with the level quality in your food, then maybe you shouldn't do party's on a Saturday night considering it's one of the busier nights of the week......I don't think I'll be returning for a while after tonight....big disappointment read more
